Was there much information about the obligation to buy clause? I think I remember it was something like 25 games we had to buy him or pay a "get out" fee to cancel the obligation if triggered. Anyone got the details?

I don’t think there is a confirmation of how many games, it’s more of speculations.

The Everton saga is important - together with issues involving Chelsea and Man City. But providing our finances are sound this could be a good time to close the gap on clubs above us. Providing being the operative word because we must not fall into the obvious trap …….. which brings us nicely back to ‘click or not to click’ that is the question.

I don’t think we’ve done good in that aspect at the beginning, but being conservative and progressing is the good part lately. Some went angry on selling our young players yet that gave me an idea about how our board are acting and knowing how to sell and when.
I think we’re progressing financially (which a lot of teams are getting into bigger mess with regressing as a team). So I agree with you on the timing, but again we can’t gamble. We just have to continue our clever progress.

Well ofcourse if January came and we’re first with a chance of winning the league, I won’t mind getting two upgrades that would help us, but with a view of benefiting out of them in the future. Otherwise clever loans can help us.

I've never seen a statement about a footballer that I disagree more with. He is quite possibly the best crosser in our squad, one of the best in the Premier League!

I’m not talking about set pieces or so, I mean, well not crossing high balls in particular but sending dangerous one. With Moreno you could see the difference. I’m not sure what it’s called but similar to Bailey’s assist to Watkins the other day. Most of Dinge and even Cash aren’t good ones. Some are actually bad. Wether it’s ability or decision making or both I’m not sure.

My only concern right now is that we've only had three clean sheets all season (not including the Hibs tie) and the last of which in the PL was against 10 man Chelsea 2 months ago.

It’s a concern yet could be in our favor that we still have a room for improvement.
I think Tielimans gives us more balance than Zaniolo or Bailey (Especially going to the next tough games). That should help us defensively and offensively.
Last season we were conceding much until our 10 games run only conceded 2 or something like that.
Now we’re more adventurous but we still not have last season organize because of players adapting to the system (Moreno was perfect offensively while Young had more awareness than Cash). With Ramsey as well we were balanced. All of that with being more cautious.

I was thinking the same Digne has played really well so far, but it seems like having Moreno on the bench is having a negative effect on him ?

Dinge is good but he lacks something attacking wise. His shots are ok but most of his crosses aren’t good. Moreno adds a different dimension to our game. But at certain games Dinge would still be very important. Good to have both.

Newcastle will finish 3rd beating AC Milan I think so that's better for us if they have to play europa league from Feb onwards.

I think Newcastle and Man Utd going to Europa could be in our favor, no one goes out because of the PL ranking, and them having something to play for in Europe so they don’t only focus on the league. Then we depend in ourselves to win the conference, City and Arsenal to go far, then 5 teams in Europa going far with hopefully a Liverpool win for that cup. That would probably make 5th goes to CL while all Europe teams keep playing and not only focused on the league.

  7. I think we have a good chance to improve even without spending big in January. We’d know more where are we by then, with hopefully Ramsey and Moreno being back to action.
We could improve in different areas, but what could be our priorities?
A right back could be a good idea, then not sure what? Possibly a potentially good talented winger, who might be as Duran getting some minutes.
If we made it in the FA cup and won our first game, and hopefully won the group, we’d still need more rotations.

Another composed, grafting performance tonight. The kind of consistency we need when we aren't at our best.

As much as he put good work, but attacking wise we’re missing a lot. He gets the ball in dangerous areas but most of the time doesn’t have a clue what to do. It’s a real shame as he’s a very good play.

I think we’re really missing Moreno and Ramsey (Dinge will start and play some game’s especially when we’re expected to defend). But games when we play the whole game in opposition area we definitely need Moreno. Hopefully he’s back soon. As much as I thought we needed him to feature before our draw, as much as I thought it would be a needless risk, as we have a break which could help him more.

  9. Great result that Chelsea lost, yesterday Palace could’ve got a draw but if we won tomorrow things stay as it is. Hopefully Arsenal and Newcastle fail to win as well, that would make this game week a lot better even before us playing.
Some people say we won’t be above Arsenal or Liverpool, we can’t say who we are above or not from now, so as long as they will play irrelevant team we have to wish them not winning. Even Man City, them losing and us keeping pace would help us on the longer run.

If we got to first in the next couple of weeks, we can’t just say we’re not good enough to win the league. Just keep going and see where it takes you. That push can secure CL place (even if we fail early on league wise).
Each win for us and each loss of the other 8 teams is a benefit for us short term or long term. A little threat could come from West Ham or Brentford but that would require a drop in our form.

  10. Take it game at a time, so only think of Luton game, They’ve improved lately. Could be another Mostar especially if they scored early.
Anyway hoping for Spurs not to win tonight, that would be a good result to begin the game week with.
Basically we have to look at: Spurs, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, Brighton and Utd each week and hoping they don’t win.

  11. West Ham game was great to give him some game time (after the 4th goal). Hopefully we can give him a chance in the PL soon he deserves it and it would give him more confidence to improve.

Best performance for us. He was outstanding  and my motm. Thats how you show you want to keep your place in the side.

Id start him vs kuton and rest luiz or mcginn have either on bench

Luiz is due a card for a suspension. Hopefully he doesn’t get one as we’ll need him in our run, which will get tougher. We also need points these games. Tough decision to be honest. Especially when Luiz is scoring every game at home.

  13. We need him in the next two months to be honest. I’m not sure how long Ramsey needs to be back, but even then he adds a new dimension. Hopefully what’s happening with him doesn’t affect.

Well from what I've seen, he's decent at passing through the lines. Would be ideal to play over Dendoncker in some of these European group games we're expected to dominate, while still offering defensive qualities.

Is he registered with us in Europe?

The other issue is if one of the Europa teams (say Brighton) win it and qualify for the Champions League. They finish 6th or lower in the Premier League.

England get 5 spots in the CL due to coefficients, but Brighton now also get a CL spot.   I'm sure i read somewhere that England would NOT be given 6 spots, therefore the lowest league spot (5th place) would be given to Brighton.

So we want the Europa teams to do well for now, but not so well they go and win it.  Not such a issue with Liverpool as they'll probably finish top4/5 in the PL anyway.

They don’t get 6 teams if it was like before. But qualifying through Europe doesn’t get considered as a team coming from the same league.
I think 6 would be the most teams that could play in one season. So basically if Brighton and Utd won both competitions and not get top 5, only top 4 will go to CL.

But the other question is, which positions takes you to Europa and conference? Only one team in Europa and another in the Conference?

Having to root for rival English clubs so Villa has access to the 5th UCL spot is painful.

To be honest we need to root for all 3 Europa teams so they don’t get to our competition. I’m worried about Brighton coming. So hopefully the all qualify. Then regarding CL I don’t think any of them can win it realistically apart from City. Again I guess all of the qualifying would make them focusing on both which can affect their league performances (such as us). Newcastle going to Europa isn’t ideal as they’ll have a big chance winning it.
I guess supporting those English clubs would benefit us even if there was no 5th CL spot.
Yesterday I watched Brighton and kept cheering for them.

  17. When do we expect him to get back from injury? I think we really need him soon, hopefully he can play with us here and there until January then we see wether to loan or keep him.

Need to find out ASAP as want him in my FPL lineup and will be a huge miss against wolves, our playing style will be much worse without him!

But we don’t want rushing him before the break (well he have to go to France during that time). Atleast having him on bench will give us more confidence that if needed he can play and that he’s getting better and no need to worry.

Been named in the England U19 squad for Euro qualifiers next week against Montenegro, Wales, and Austria, which means he will miss our U21 game against Charlton on Tuesday. England's first game is on Wednesday, I suppose in theory he could play for us on the Tuesday and then link up with England for their next two games.

With our injuries I think he’ll feature against Wolves. We don’t have cup games until January so I expect him to have some minutes.

  20. I wasn’t impressed by his signing, but I understand it. You can’t spend much on a player that you know will be a squad player. I don’t think Emery preferred him but he was free, with big experience and we need more reliable squad players.
I don’t think he’s as bad as we think, but he’s definitely not Luiz quality so people don’t have to compare them.
I hope he improves soon as we need everyone, all games are important that we can’t rest our starters which we have to.
