There is IMHO NO imminent buyer in the frame!!!! According to those that I think have a sense of the situation

"There is NO imminent buyer in the frame!!!!"

It may be "fun" to speculate and spout crap about this or that billionaire or another self proclaimed ITK or even whether the latest executive fancy boll o x jet to land at BHX is carrying our salvation, but for many it ****** isn't "fun".

I have read comments over the last few weeks from individuals who seem more interested in claiming the "scoop" rather than admitting they know SFA. FFS give it a rest!

Our club is in the shit and it's predicament has been turned into just another ****** online game.

Its just a distraction for a lot of very 'worried' supporters, though, Mike. Nobody is under any illusion as to the clubs predicament, but if we all sink into the same suicidal gloom we might as well log out and phone the Samaritans. I'm not taking any of the ITK stuff all that seriously, but at some point one of them are going to hit the nail right on the head, however fortuitously, so I'll just go along with it.

I was on the phone to the Samaritans last night. When I mentioned that I was going to throw myself under a bus because no one on VT had any positive news on the Villa takeover the girl on the phone ( also a Villa fan) offered to come & join me & told me a number 7 bus was due in 5 minutes. ;)

Good job the National Express buses never run on time around here isn't it? :P

    Or is it? :(   :P

  2. Guys Mendi's story totally checks out.

When Ellison was first mentioned, people said he was a tough businessman who would have the vast majority of his wealth tied up in Oracle stock.

It makes sense that he can't easily pay what Lerner is asking (and have enough to Man City us) so he's playing hardball with Lerner

    #StandByMendi

    #Pray4Mendi

    #MendiIsEllison

I can't believe how many VT members have been suckered in by Mendi.

Keith Harris is the guy trying to broker a deal which means that Mendi is probably Orville.

If it looks like bullshit. Smells like bullshit. Tastes like bullshit then it must surely be

  3. OK, based on the advice I got from TrentVilla, I drove all night on the assumption I could park, despite that numpty on TBAR not getting the code.  I’m here hiding in the shrubbery in front of the restaurant.  I’m dressed as an attacking midfielder making a delayed run into the box, that way nobody associated with Villa will see me.

Oh, Wait.  Here comes a car.  It’s Randy, he walks into the restaurant smiling and looking very confident.  I guess that’s a good sign.  Here comes another car.  Oh, they can’t get past the parking gate.  So, it looks like they’re getting out of the car at the street and walking.  It’s Paul Faulkner and his idiot TBAR assistant who didn’t ask for the gate code.  But, this is interesting.  Paul Faulkner is wearing a climbing harness and helmet.  Maybe he’s expecting to do an abseil in this meeting.  Or wait, the harness might be a parachute, can’t really tell from here.

Here comes another car.  Paul Lambert gets out.  Damn, he looks pissed.  He didn’t look this pissed during any humiliating drubbing we took this year.  Stay out of his way, he looks determined to ruin this day.

Well, guess this is the meeting then. WAIT !  Here comes another car.  It’s a stretch Limo.  On my, there are three Sheiks getting out.  It’s windy here.  So, to repeat, there are 3 Sheiks in the wind.  One of them tips the driver with a bar of gold bullion and they walk into the restaurant smiling and joking.

Here comes another car.  It’s also a Limo.  Three guys dressed in black wearing Russian machine guns around their necks.  They’re looking around the area.  One of them just nodded all clear and the door opens.  OMG it’s Putin.  No! It just looks like Putin.  But he is carrying a bottle of Vodka with him.

And ANOTHER car pulls in.  It’s a Gold colored Cadillac with steer horns on the front.  The guy getting out is wearing a Stetson and gold tipped boots.  And there’s a kid with him.  Looks to be about 7 years old.    He’s carrying a size 4 ball and wearing an MLS t-shirt.

Well, I guess that’s it then, we’re about to have a bidding war.  WAIT!!!  One more car:  Damn this car moves slowly, it’s just creeping through the parking lot, like it’s running on a hairdryer motor.  Ok.  It finally stopped and somebody’s getting out.  WTF?!?!?  It’s Mendi !!!!!

Any chance you can get me Mendi's autograph before you bump start his car?

  4. My personal NITK view is that we will have to be patient for the next month or so maybe a bit longer.

Remember Lerner brought us for £62 million and is now looking for a reported £200 million because of his investment in the club. If I was a potential buyer looking at that scenario I would be thinking why the big increase? In 2006 the club was in decline and in need of serious investment, same as now.

In 2006 we had an unsettled fan base disillusioned with the board and manager, same as now. What Lerner has done is invest some money in the training ground, in the corporate facilities at VP, in the Holte Pub and some cosmetic changes round the ground. Now the rest of his investment has come in the squad and that has been in the main disastrous which a lot of money being pissed up the wall.

Our main saleable asset, Benteke, is out with a long term injury and the rest of the squad is middling in quality to be kind. TV revenues are increased but there are new rules coming into play that affect the way money is spent. So are we really worth £200m of someone's hard earned?

I don't think so. I would value us at £100m to £150m depending on Lerner desperation to sell, which I think now is pretty high. Plus there are issues at the club which as a new owner I wouldn't want to have to pay for such as the current managerial team pay off and I would want the 'bomb squad' off my books and out the door. This would cost £15m minimum. Then there is the investment in the squad required and the appointment of a new managerial team this is at least £60m this summer to keep us out of another relegation dogfight.

I think that is what's happening at the moment. Negotiations over the true value of the club and it assets, Lerner has brought players and sold players and we are in a very poor position at present. I think Lerner is going to get a wake up call on how much money he has actually wasted on this little project.

Once the real value id agreed I think the deal will go through because I think Lerner has got to the get rid at all costs stage.

What is the real value of Aston Villa FC though?

Many City analysts are claiming that £200 M is a fair price based purely on the fact that Ellis sold his shareholding for £65M & Randy paid £110M all in to buy out all the other shareholders. In other words Villa was sold off too cheaply first time around.

More importantly. What price on the potential of Aston Villa?

eg  say the Quatar group who were allegedly interested in buying Man Utd for £2B suddenly became interested in buying us instead. They could easlly purchase us for £250M without batting an eye lid & that would save them £1.75 B on the purchase cost of a Premier league club which they could then potentially invest into building us into a major force once more.

If Randy plays his cards right £200 M should be easily attainable & that's not taking into account that there are many Billionaire's out there with massive ego's just waiting to be massaged.

  5. I think RL is keeping his cards very close to his chest.  I imagine only he and his advisors and any potential buyer or buyers actually know what is going on.

    I believe this too.

Since it is reported that there is currently a 6 week time scale with Merrill Lynch to find a buyer that will take us up to Monday 23rd June 2014 at the latest.

If we are still in limbo by that date with nothing concrete in the pipeline, then I really will start to become worried for the future of our beloved club.

  6.

...Kozak has been average while Okore seems to have been judged as a good player without anyone really seeing him playing enough. Probably by the same posters who give off stink to other posters who in their opinion criticise new players prematurely...

Question - how many times would you need to see (say)  Paul Mcgrath play, before you noticed "actually he's bloody brilliant". I'm not saying Okore is in the same class, very very few were or are, but sometimes you can just tell, surely?

it's harder withduff signings, as some come good after a time to settle - Bouma, for example.

For me Okore looked classy, Kozak terrible, if I'm honest.

Now I don't ever "give off stink" to people who hold a different view, and most people don't. So what I'm saying is if you take people at face value, and their views the same, there's less need to seemingly put other motives onot people who hold different views.

Agree with some of that, as certain players are obviously very easy to brand exceptional talents in 20 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo comes to mind when he debuted against Bolton all those years ago, Eden Hazard after a few games, Wayne Rooney, Ross Barkley at the start of this season when I started paying attention to him and so on. It's also easy to see who is never going to make it, like Brett Holman and his 9th division rapist touch. However, putting Okore in the former category is futile. He has played in the Danish division where he has never been matched with top players, he played for Nordsjælland in the Champions League where they let in 22 goals in six games and he played a few minutes for us before he got injured. He looked ok, it looked like he could manage the level - but it's not like he shut the shop and performed wonderfully in those games. Does he have the ability to become better than Baker and Clark? Certainly. But to mention anything else right now is pointless, nobody here knows how good he is and the most important thing is to get over this injury. MANY players struggle to become half the player they could have been after such an injury, especially when it happens at the stage in your career where you are still developing.

I do have high hopes for him though, I sincerely wish he will rehabilitate and become a solid defender in the Premier League.

One of Okore's biggest assets is his ability to play out from the back. When you have a player like Nathan Baker filling in what option do you have other than telling him to hoof it? How many times has he been guilty of misplaced passes & conceding possession through poor concentration & judgement last season?

The evolution of Lambert's passing game has suffered largely because of Okore's absence. Okore has a wonderful passing range & is totally comfortable on the ball.

This is why I wished other Villa fans here on VT would go a little bit easier in apportioning blame on Paul Lambert not just in his results but in what I believe to be a necessary playing style due to circumstance. Paradoxically I believe they should be praising Lambo for his adaptability.

This thread will go down in the hall of fame of threads.

Can I just ask why Lerner possibly or possibly not closing a restaurant to have a meeting is news.  We know Lambert and Faulkner have flown out to see him.  Why is the location so important?

They are assuming that potential new owners will be at the restaurant.

Imagine the disappointment if the potential new owners are in fact at the restaurant because it is the actual restaurant it self that they are buying & nothing else. :(

  8.

If he was to simply say goodbye to Faulkner and Lamber, that means there is a 100% buyer.

If the club is just 'for sale' then I dont see how we could not be fully preparaing for the next season.

If its 'just for sale', then lerner could be here for the next few years.

I think the expected issue is that Lamberts preparation for a new season - will conflict with Lerners cost cutting - so a parting of the waves is highly likley based on that.

Surely that means Moses will be there too then?

Apparently not. Something to do with him being a bit of a basket case I think.

  9.

We must assume that people aren't that stupid, no matter how their actions look:

    • Lambert will only walk if he has another job lined up (Celtic rumours abound) or he see's total decimation next season and isn't prepared to let his reputation suffer further. Wrapped up in this is the Karsa/culvershouse issue perhaps?
    • Randy wants out, but for a fee. He must know that entering the season without a manager and a weak team will only drive the price down. Conversely, a quick sale could result in a higher price as the new owner can start afresh in time for the new season.
    • Telling the world you want to sell something is a calculated action - it could lead to an auction, driving the price up; or it could be a sign of desparation, driving the price down.

Yes - but weve been starring down the relegation Barrell in a couple of Jan windows - and Lerners has provided nothing to protect his investment.

What I really fear and I sense we are moving towards is that Lerner has to appoint another manager whilst we are still up for sale. Or he could promote Sid and Shay. - We really aren't in a good place.

All possibilities being covered then Lambert's short term demise would surely result in just that, immediate internal promotion of Cowans & Given. In a worst case scenario of no take over & limited funds being made available then I would have every sympathy for whom ever was in the managerial hot seat but I truly hope Lambert remains in such circumstances because he has brought Vlaar, Benteke, Okore & Kozak into the Club & he is currently the best person to assess our needs going forward.

I just hope this situation doesn't drag on unresolved for weeks/months on end as it will totally destabilise the whole club.

  10. I bet it will be like a scene out of reservoir dog's at the restaurant with clandestine names like Mr Pink & Mr Orange squabbling over the virtues of tipping the waitress. If Mr Orange confirms that he never tips ever then I can reveal Mr Orange to be Doug Ellis. Who is Mr Pink though? Surely that is the most intriquing?

& what about Mr White & Mr Blue?

  11. Love the way Mat Kendrick waits till Lambo is out of the country before knifing him in the back.

Hopefully the scheduled meeting of the Villa triumverate (Lambert, Lerner, Faulkner) is completely comprehensive & covers all bases & all possibilities.

The situation needs to be resolved as quickly as possible as Villa being in limbo for just one second is one second too long as far as I am concerned.

  12.

I have no real problem with Lambert getting us to finish 15. I don't think, especially with our injury list we should expect more of him under these constraints, but the way he attempts to play the game is not for me. We are a long ball team under him I'm fed up of this type of football we've been playing it for over 8 years other than a few months under Houllier.

I think the with the size and quality of the Villa park pitch...to be successful there we need to play football on it.

Exactly... long ball fatigue has well and truly set in.

Sitting on the pot fatique has set in. :P

  14.

Massive respect for Lambert personally, this club has been ruined by the people above the manager and it aint gonna be fixed in 2 years by some miracle worker working under seriously bad constraints.  It's been ugly this season but at the end of the day we are safe and still in a good position to push on next year whatever happens.  Put 3 or 4 quality players into that team and the difference would be night and day.

I want Lambert to stay and have the chance to give it a proper go here. Then I'm sure we'll see some great attacking football like Lambert played at Norwich when he was backed and had a proper squad to work with.  He has been restricted here and has suffered for it but I'm sure he has learned a lot and he will be a better manager for it, I just hope he is with us next season!

No shit Sherlock. We'd have 3 - 4 players capable of passing the ball to each other while the others watch in amazement.

On a positive note, if Lambert does get another season then his bluff has been called. He has to drastically improve and despite some of the bleating on here there is no evidence of this happening - not even green shoots.

I don't care about his restraints I want to see a clear footballing philosophy on the pitch. Not this antiquated crap he's served up so far.

Time to shit or get off the pot.

That pot's sure gonna stink next season. ;)

  15.

Jareth - How's your new job going with the Bournemoth Tourist board? ;)

Just awful, I say, well, laugh, and they don't laugh with me. Let alone the time I gave the receptionist a peach. She fell into the bog of stench and now works at Lidls.

I don't think they laugh with you but most probably at you. You should have given the receptionist your cherry seeing as it was in Bournemouth. I never knew your mom worked in Lidls?

I'm going to get banned for this aren't I.

    Over to you limpid.

Nothing wrong with not watching Labyrinth, but you should be shot if you have not seen Fraggle Rock.

Omariqy - fair enough, I don't know Howard, he is a little bit competive in forums and very keen to educate the world on his business dealings, and perceives the average villa fan as pond scum that needs telling about the real world, and basically never approaches a fellow man as an equal, but all that aside, yes, it probably is his parents fault, and they are repeating their mistakes with him but couldn't care less because they haven't the ability to care about their fellow man. NOT THEIR FAULT.

So how much do you owe him on his business dealings? Did he leave you to pick up the tab at that Curry House? Is that what this is all about? Do you need to wear a bullet proof jacket if you've not seen Fraggle Rock? I think you need to spend a little more time on the bench presses. :P;)

  16. Well I am from Balsall Heath originally and I don't give a flying hoot about Bournemouth.  What the hell happened to this thread?  I know HH well and yes he has done well for himself and so has his dad through the funeral business.  I've personally never met him.  However, HH is a good guy and loves Villa.  I have been standing next to him when he has talked to PF about going ons at Villa and PF has opened about stuff.  Stuff that I have never posted on here and never will.  So, yes I can believe he did at one point get good information.  HH also is good friends with quite a few ex players because of his work with Villa.  My personality, upbringing etc is all the opposite of HH but even I can look past that to know he is a good guy and loves the Villa.  Not sure how you can sit behind a keyboard and talk about a man you have never met and call him a tosser, all based on his apparent self promoting twitter posts.

Anyway all of this is off topic.

I can see it being a long summer of rumour and takeover talks with nothing happening till late in the year.

Which justs underlines that anybody who has ever met HH knows he is a genuine Villa fan. He also has a great sense of humour too.

Not sure about Omariqy though? :P
