  1. Looks like a transitional season then if we are not going to address the holes in our squad. It’s a shame but I understand it and we have rarely bought well in Jan. We are much more likely to add to our problems than solve them in the Jan market. Just look at last year. I’ll expect big things in summer!

Well, he’s an option once everyone get’s frustrated with Watkins and Bailey upfront… that’s probably 30 minutes into the Leicester game! 😂

He’s more frustrating than Watkins and Bailey combined so this won’t end well!

  3. Would be nice to pick up another winger / wide forward even if it’s just a loan, ideally with an option. Surprised we sent Archer out on loan as he would surely be getting the Ings minutes off the bench over second half of season. It’s not a big deal I suppose since we are safe from relegation but a bad injury really could derail the season still.

  4. Was just thinking what terrible mismanagement of Archers career this year from Villa. Held him back from loan first half of the season and then stuck him behind Watkins and Ings in the pecking order so he got no minutes, and now sent off on loan even though we only have one senior forward and we recruited a youth prospect ahead of him to boot. Feel sorry for the guy…

You're right about it probably being nothing. I found it and, although not Guendouzi, interestingly it came from the Stoke's Bet365 stadium.

Welcome to villa Harry Souttar! He’s too tall for a taxi so he takes a helicopter everywhere.

  6. Hope we keep Ings till summer personally. He is a known quantity and can score steady number of goals in this league, which is far from a certainty for any potential replacements (Samatta says hi). But Easy for me to say that when it isn’t my money being spent on his big wages and the loss in transfer fee of we keep hold of him. Ultimately I trust Emery to make the right decision.

  7. Awful first half but strangely I wasn’t too concerned as I guessed that Emery would change it up at half time in reaction and so it proved. Second half still not great tbf but much better and we deserved our point in the end. Wolves we’re nothing special but we were even worse for much the game so it feels a bit of a missed opportunity.

Bailey, Digne and Buendía extremely poor all game, Cash a disaster in midfield but much better at full back. Luiz and Watkins very average too. On the flip side All the subs were great. Overall we seemed very half-speed and tired - our press was extremely half-arsed. Poor decision making all over the park all game and the quality of passing shocking as well. Basically we seemed mentally and physically tired and I guess that was a reaction to many games in rapid succession. The subs looked way fresher and improved us immensely. Need to give several players a rest I think against Stevenage to freshen up for the next league game.

  8. I’m gutted but I can’t blame Emery too much for putting his faith in the second string in a league cup game at this stage of his tenure. He’s only been here 5 minutes and he needs to see these players in action to learn about the squad and improve us. I’m sure he was surprised as the rest of us that our club captain and reserve goalie appear to be utterly hopeless.

  9. Quite painful to watch the second string try to play Emery ball. It’s clear that Emery requires technically able players who like the ball at there feet. Ohlsen, McGinn and Chambers in particular like fish out of water. With a few players uncomfortable with the ball added to the line up it was clear how the whole system broke down regularly. I’m sure Emery will have learnt a lot about who in second string can play his style today. Shame not to see Sansón get some minutes as I’m sure he can adapt well to Emery’s style, unlike McGinn. Hopefully back to the strongest 11 on Sunday.

  10. Seems like marketing guff to me. There is a thin thread of logic to it that makes you think the designers aren’t completely taking the piss with the millions they have been paid to flip the lion around, but I wasn’t exactly worried that the lion was facing ‘backwards’ these last 50 years.

lion looking right  = looking forward       lion looking left = looking backwards

This seems like prime marketing speak bollocks to me. Neither left or right is really facing ‘forward’ is it? Forward would be a lion facing head on not in side profile. If I had to guess the true reasons for flipping the lion are: change for change sake to justify a redesign, and in order to make the round badge look less like the Chelsea badge, which has pretty much the same shape and features but has lion facing left.

  12. I prefer the lion on option one. If you look closely it has more detail. I would have preferred a gold lion on either badge. Very happy with the gold lion on existing badge, it is the best part our existing badge by miles.

  13. Option 1 looks like a MLS / pro-evo ‘new club’ badge. Claret badge on claret shirt will look bad.

Option 2 looks like a city group identi-kit badge and is very similar to the 5-6 clubs in league with round badges, especially Chelsea (which also has a lion)

Both are too simple. I would prefer more complexity.

    Voted round.
