  1. If that was our back 4 i wouldnt be too worried as be quite solid defensively but not much going forward

We wouldn't have the over laps from the full backs but we could do well with that back four. We'd have Downing and Albrighton bombing down the wings as well. With McLeish bringing some sort of organisation to the defense we could be alright.

  2. I think Clark will improve under McLeish.. I'm not sure whether he will be used as much as he has done this season though.

If it was up to me he'd play every game.

I can see a back four of...

    Clarke Dunne Collins Cuellar

You know Big Eck would have a hard on over that shit

  3. Saul Alvarez gave Ryan Rhodes a bit of a kicking last night then.

Its amazing to think he is only 20 and has had 38 professional fights! I think he is a good fighter but still think when he fights someone like Martinez, they would kick the shit outta him!

  4. McLeish won't stand for any of Ireland's crap, if he doesn't sort himself out he'll be out the door in no time

Maybe... I hope Ireland sees this as a fresh start and hits the ground running and gives it a good go during McLeishs reign and the preseason. If he can get the best out of him it will be like a new signing, otherwise he needs to be sold and moved on and the money reinvested!

  5. What I find most saddening about this is that Randy and the General have completely obliterated their excellent relationship with the fans in just a few days.

    Totally agree, it's very sad.

I agree also. Always been proud of the way we were run and how the board actually gave a shit about the fans... Now its like we have Mike Ashley running the club!

  6. He is talented but God knows what happens in that head of his. If he was on form, behind Bent with Downing and Albrighton on the wings I'd be excited but can't see it happening!

  7. this is a joke man. it feels like a dream like this can't be happening to us. feel disillusioned. its upsetting really. i really hope the board have got it right and he becomes the next big manager. it wont happen but i hope it does!

  8. Like most of you, I am reeling from this. I had a really sad moment last night with my 8 year old boy. I told him he couldn't have a new Villa shirt as I am not putting a penny into our club after this.

It's obvious now what our priorities are - Lerner is looking to recoup his cash before selling up. McLeish will be ordered to reduce the wage bill and try and keep the club as stable as possible.

A frightening but logical conclusion - I can't help but agree.

It is hard to argue against it but its not McLeish has a good record with working within a budget and a reduced wage bill... Took SHA down twice.

Also when the Generals comments were leaked he was saying imagine what he can do with the backing from the board and etc... So we can only hope that if it is him he does get some backing financially.

  9. McLeish is a massively unpopular appointment. I cant believe anybody is arguing that.

Agreed! Very few people want him here and some are saying they will back him because they love the club. I can't see many jumping for joy that we are appointing McLeish!

  10. If and its a big if the board go against the wishes of the majority of Villa fans I sincerely hope it turns out to be a success..............purely on the basis that I would hate to see the calibre of Randys Third Manager.

    Houllier

    McCleish

    .............

I didn't think of that! Lets hope it does work out because I can't imagine how low we would go for our next manager? Dowie? Phil Brown? I shudder at the thought.

  11. So if the club do decide that its best NOT to appoint McLeish...Does it not worry you who else in on this shortlist?

Are we looking at lower level managers with Premierleague Experiance, Southgate and Curbishley maybe?

Can somebody find this guy advising the board that the manager needs to be Pre Experianced and shoot him.

The search needs to be broadened to a wider area than just Premiership managers surely?

No idea. I don't think he'd be offered the job at all because it makes no sense whatsoever. Even if he is, I don't think he'd accept it because that'd be managerial suicide.

Maybe they're just waiting for an answer from some of their original targets and are continuing the interviews in case it falls apart.

The statement on the OS yesterday said "Premiership Experianced"...This basically dosnt give us many options if managers like Ancelotti, Moyes, Benitez have all turned us down.. Its easy to see why we are interviewing McLeish..

The board need to change the search criteria to give us more options on the table.

How important is it to have Premiership Experianced do you think? Do you as a fan agree that it should play as an important part of our manager search?

Maybe the 'Premier League Experience' is a smoke screen lol we can only hope... One big smoke screen. GK and his diversion tactics and all that!

Its going to be McLeish! I just hope with the backing he can actually play two strikers up front.

  12. Anyone take Shearer over McLeish? Shearer and Houghton as a two...

And why the **** would they do any better??

Who took Newcastle down the other year??? oh yeah...

Lol I know. I'm taking the piss. Everything is just a joke now. Fed up!

  13. I have been angry, upset and been in denial and now I'm just expecting it. I just keep hoping with better resources that we can provide and with some freedom he may be able to perform and we can do well. You never know... I'm just hoping he can be the next big thing in football after a few seasons... You can see I'm trying to convince myself :(
