  1. Hi Gen,

You may remember me posting a couple of weeks back and saying we need to stay behind Houllier. I still am fully behind him and so should every other villa fan be. I am afraid a huge amount of our fans are fickle.

I will try not to sound contradictory in this post to my above statement.

The results recently have been terrible, nobody in their right mind can disagree; the million dollar question is who's fault is it?

The fans will blame Houllier, and maybe the experienced players. That same back four were keeping clean sheets, defending brilliantly for a different manager. However, we have now become a shambles and I speak on behalf of many villa fans it is depressing to see.

Houllier has had to deal with more injuries than O'neill ever had to! Our team tonight could have beaten Liverpool. There was no passion and the experienced players are not leading by example.

I earn probably 1/3 a year to what the players earn a week, and I would put more passion and comittment into playing for villa if I was doing it for free. I am saying it how it is all the fans want the club to do well.

A blunt question, do you trust Houllier in the transfer market, if so he needs 40 million. We need quality players. If you don't trust him, get someone who you will it has proved with key players out we cannot cope.

Please pass on my thanks to the young lads who are playing out their skins in my opinion they deserve a lot of praise and I hope they become established players in the future.

A word of warning General, from attending nearly every villa game. If we do not pick up 3 points at home against West Brom, regardless of how well they are playing there will be large % calling for Houllier's head. He is a good manager clearly, he has pedigree and therefore he has enough firepower even with the injuries to be doing a dam-sight better than results we are getting.

The fans will turn on the board and I dont want to see it happen. Calm before the storm.

HOWEVER. We all need to stick together, ride the rough with the smooth but it is unforgiveable to see players earning so much money not give a care in the world and this was highlighted tonight and nobody can disagree.

    Cheers

  2. Hi General,

First post to you, has been brilliant reading what you have had to say.

I think there is a cloud of negativity above villa park at the moment, I think a lot of fans are being short-sighted and are missing glaringly obvious things that are harming our club.

I was very upset when Martin O'Neill left, he really did well with our club but in fairness had a lot of money to spend, some of which was wasted in a lot of fans opinion. I was excited with Gerard Houllier when he was appointed and to be fair to him, he has had it very hard. We all need to back him. The injuries have just been so unlucky, we have basically had 4 years worth of injuries recently; so at the moment he has a tough job on his hands.

One thing that he needs is the money in January. Our team needs more quality, and a striker. Please can we back him in January to sign some players.

I think all villa fans need to reserve judgement until after the window is closed in January and get off the player and Houlliers back, we are going through a tough period but there is light at the end of the tunnel with the squad we have.

P.S A win on Wednesday would lighten the mood a lot!

    Thanks.

  3. Does anyone think the club are "using" Kevin Macdonald as a distraction to the media. Him throwing his hat in, a lot of reports saying he'll get it, bookies favourite, whilst villa quietly go about getting their man.. are they being clever?

Interesting theory Kev Mac being used as Lerners bitch.

I wish it were true but I think Kev Mac has thrown his hat in the ring as he knows he is in with a great chance.

Hmm.. from his interviews I sense something is going on. I for one would be surprised to see K Mac get the job. I think Randy has someone up his sleeve and is playing his cards very close to his chest to get his man.

  4. Oh I don't doubt he's connected. Does he have a record of being right when he hears anything? The Barnetta thing doesn't really help, and having had a quick mooch on his twitter he doesn't seem to rumour monger much. When he does, is he right?

I just doubt his use here. Whats 'a fairly decent job'? Is Stoke a fairly decent job? Forest? Is Everton a fairly decent job, or a pretty good job? Is Small Heath a fairly decent job, or a **** steaming pile of horse manure job?

Is a serious stir a good thing? A serious stir in the football generally? Or a serious stir, for all the wrong reasons, in the Villa fan base?

    And so on.

He's really not said much for us all to get excited over. I suppose anything is better than nothing, but I'm not holding my breath.

As for the money people chucked at Moyes signing, it'd be better used elsewhere, that ain't happening.

Good post, however you, me or any other fan does not really KNOW who is going to be the next manager. So people who have put money on Moyes may be right may be wrong, time will tell but I think Lerner will surprise us.

  5. Your silly then.

Randy wants a manager with Prem experience, this is all taken a long time to sort out, maybe because the man he wants is tied up and a compensation deal is being negotiated.

If it was Sven or Jurgen it could be done in a day.

    Or am i adding 2 + 2 and coming out with 8.

I think you raise a valid point :thumb:

  6. I think its getting ridiculous. We are in a bad situation which was masked by the west Ham victory. The board beat around the bush far too much and it is unfair for us supporters.

I have a horrible sinking feeling that Randy will appoint the wrong man. This is not to be negative - A lot of villa fans want Jol, I dont think we'll play his compensation and also why would he come to villa with no funds to spend

As soon as Bradley's name was mentioned the day after O'Neills departure I thought it was going to happen, and still do. In my opinion it will be the wrong move for the club and we need to aim higher to keep our reputation. It does not take a genius to work out Macdonald does not want the job, he doesnt want the pressure.

I think we'll get Bradley or someone out the blue..

  7. Hi General,

I have to be honest, that was the worst performance I have seen in my 17 years of supporting villa, in stark contrast to one of the best attacking I saw last week against West Ham. There is clearly uncertainty all about the club, the players the fans. We as fans pay our money week in week out, is it now fair you tell us excatly what is going in? When will the new manager be appointed? You keep saying you will not rush but time is not on our side; we will quickly lose what MON has built up unless you make the correct appointment and quick. Martin Jol, 99% of fans want please look at this option!

And please consider this carefully . We NEED a new striker, please sign a striker before the end of the window we simply do not have the goal scoring ability with our current strikers. I am afraid, as harsh as it sounds and I am a devoted villa fan, without this managerial appointment and new striker the club is destined for doom and gloom.

Us supporters are been kept in the dark, please shed some light on the progress?
