Croatia have just reached their first ever world cup final... incredible considering they're a nation of only 4 million people. They'll be overjoyed whatever happens now.

Southgate pretty much did the best he possibly could with the tools at his disposal, in my opinion.

Still, they blew an incredible opportunity to reach the final. It's going to be a very long time indeed before I regain interest in international football after this, personally.

Brazil sucked, Argentina sucked, Germany went out in the group stages, Spain shot themselves in the foot the day before the tournament started, Holland and Italy didn't even qualify, and we ended up on a side of the bracket with very few good teams, and not a single great team.

I agree. England had a golden opportunity here, and it's unlikely they'll ever get it again (at least in my lifetime).

England will never get a better chance at winning the world cup than this. They seriously blew it.

I didn't say they're a shoe in for the semis. I'm well aware England are over hyped and overrated but their squad is still stronger than Colombia, Sweden and Switzerland's. To not beat them would be a failure in my eyes (especially when you take into account all the players Southgate rested for the Belgium game).

Anything less than England reaching the semi-finals would be a failure now.
