  1. Reason ancelotti could not come - Here

Thank you for posting the article. It actually makes sense based on what the supposed ITK from the other board had written. He said that it was Ancelotti, then said there was a glitch but one that was thought to be workable, then Ancelotti mentions the leave of abscence in the press. Bet Carlo was receptive, Villa and Carlo lawyers reviewed if they could just pay back the 6 million and buy him out. Sort of like buying out his buy out.

Damn. Hate missing that Anceloti boat. Ship will have sailed by next year. This was the year to get that caliber coach coming directly from a PL team that compteted for trophies in the here and now time. Shit.

    SMH

  2. No chance of someone being appointed today more like next week!

True, but... If they do have their man, who ever in the hell that may be, it would serve the media right to call a press conference on the weekend like say Saturday night with Randy present to take questions which would mean all those fat ass no nothings would have to make a little visit.

  3. Reports suggest Lerner has left for the US.

a couple of days ago as far as I can see

Hopefully going to the beach lol!

Wish there was a State-side version of thetrees who could spot if RL was meeting up with Klinsmann out here in California ... (now lets wait to see if bookies run around changing odds for Jurgen. Gotta keep those bastards on their toes!) Seriously, folks are tweeting about tomorrow being a big day or posible announcement and it may very well be that Randy is not in country? If there's an unveiling then he's one slick dude that Mr. Lerner.

  4. I'm starting to lean towards it being more likely to be a non-PL candidate, e.g. Rijkaard, Flores. As we've seen with Wigan, if you contact PL clubs, it most likely gets leaked. We may well have made early stage enquiries for Moyes or Coyle, but I don't see either of them happening. I think it'd be in public sphere by now if we'd been allowed to talk to one of them, as you'd assume we contacted them same time as Wigan for Martinez. That would leave either a free agent (i.e. McClaren, Hughes) or someone from further afield.

I think it slipped under radar, but seemingly someone linked to the board was posting on Heroes&Villains earlier. He wasn't saying much but someone asked if Premier League experience was an absolute requirement in manager search and the answer was "Not this time around, as far as I know". Reliability of source? Seemed like he was known on that message board and had posted there before.

His answer wasn't definitive but it did suggest the possibility we are searching wider this time. This would also tally with media knowing nothing about who we after & just jumping on whatever half-rumour they can find.

All very tenuous stuff, I know!

I posted pages back that the same guy the General's son, said Low, Van Gaal and Ancelotti were not interested.

Read that post again. He makes clear the names listed are purely hypothetical: "a Low" or "an Ancelotti".

"Interestingly, it takes two to tango, so what if certain individuals are identified but do not wish to come. Is that a lack of ambition on Villa's part? Let's say, hypothetically (seriously), a Low or an Ancelotti or a van Gaal is approached and he says, "No thanks." Does that mean that Randy is not ambitious or does it mean that a manager has his own agenda or reasons for not accepting the offer?"

yes, you're right. I read the phrase "hypothetically (seriously)" not as "seriously this is hypothetical" but rather "hypothetically well actually seriously"! Hahahah two very differnt meanings that!

  6. Everybody seems to forget how Bolton completly bombed down the table and got spanked in the semi final

This.. they looked out of depth, he looked out of depth.. he looked clueless when they got spanked in semi final... no plan B.. nothing, no thanks to Coyle.

Interesting that Bolton really started smelling up their season when Stu Holden was put to pasture by Man U, Ashley's new pals.

  7. Wenger would be crazy. Is he getting sick of Arsenal? Does he want the chance to build another dynasty at Villa carrying on where Houllier left over? All I hear out of Arsenal these days is moaning and groaning. Am I delusional for even thinking this?

It would. Not sure but they do seem sick of him. Unsure but I'd imagine that Wenger wanting Houllier's sloppy seconds suits his personality. True, That moaning and groaning is how often they get so close but yet don't come good at the end and are then the worst kind of ****. Yes.

  8. The media guessing at targets and writing articles and tweeting about who's been offered jobs and turned us down and blew us off is a way of painting the club and the Villa board as idiots. But **** all of them, seriously.

There were three PL jobs open last week. Jol had a previous relationship with Fulham dating back to last season! He was previously interviewed and was being pursuaded about the London job last year while putting the screws to Ajax. So yes he joined Fulham quickly this time around because the sales pitch was made last year.

Chelsea has no manager as of yet but things are flying back and forth in the papers about Hiddink who is a quality "name" so Chelsea are getting a free "pass" at their sitting around and waiting for an appt.

Villa won't say who they are targeting but others IE club owners and agents are suggesting that their clients and employees have been appraoched making it seem as they they have gotten offers and rejected them. But I can bull shit! Maybe those big names have not returned the club's interest but the media makes it out as though they have rejected a club job offer. Who knows if money was ever even discussed with Ancelotti et al. It probably never even got that far but that's a guess just like the media can guess. They just have the advantage because they put they guesses in HEADLINES trying to make us out to be fools.

  9. Well off to bed now. Can't wait to wake up and read 42,0357 pages of gobsmacked outpouring of claret and blue approval of our new manager! Our dear Carletto will be moved to tears when he reads the loving birthday well wishes and welcome posts from the board. :)

  10. if its houllier ill slit my wrists

I like Houllier! I can picture he and Martinez working together as manager and General Manager (GM) we call them here. DOF as they are known in England. Houllier working transfers and aquiring talent and Martinez getting the players ready to play the beautiful game :) I can see it! But what I WANT is Carlo.

  11. .H

I think everyone has missed Coop post this.

    .H

I'm off to work, I'll leave you's to work it out.

.H as in Hughes? If so he would be o. k. but a gobsmacked choice? Naw. Support him? Absolutely. If it is Hughes at least my family jewels are safe. My heart...well that would be a differnt matter.

    UTV no matter!

  12. well for all those just waking up the cat is now out the bag! Seems a few including Shaun Teal, God (yes macca), Kendrick and coop have heard who it is and were teasing us all night, they are excited but in Shauns words "If it is i'm gobsmacked"

They started giving us clues but as I haven't had the shag in a couple of months and this is the only way I am going to get to tease I am going to let you trawl back through the pages, get caught out by their red herring the **** sneaked in and let you make your mind up but I think its Ancilotti

If it is then that sound you hear at the announcement is my left nut busting. If it's not then the sound you hear is my heart breaking. They sort of sound alike but it's important to know the difference.

  13. Maybe Hou rented his spot out to Randy for the face to face meeting with Carlo. This way Hou makes a little on his beach rental property Randy gets to conduct business privately and out of the eye of the press and Carlo can sign on the dotted line without the Roma and juventus fans trying to chase him down and kill him for lying and being anti serie A. Yep it's all crystal clear now!

  14. I don't think we've offered the job to anyone so how can Martinez done it down!

Logged in to say just that!!! The press really has a way with words. Maybe none of these "candidates" were actually offered the damn job! Can't turn down what ain't been offered. Geez

  15. Quique Sanchez Flores was born in Madrid and recently left Atletico. Must be him...

Would be a brilliant appointment but can he speak English?

King Carlos can translate! Hmmmm very interesting in deed. If RL was inclined to take a punt on a Spainaird that's the punt that would make me smile. But then again no PL expereience. He has a strong personality though and suffers no fools. Can see him and Dunne in a fist fight  the first day he reorts to trainings camp

  16. Remember my bloods claret and my veins are blue and i'm from Birmingham born and bred and still live here, a TRUE Villa fan..........

Congrats! This calls for a party!

Seriously, whether you live in Birmingham England or Birmingham Alabama has no bearing on whether or not one believes that Villa is purposely throwing out crap ass info to feed the press or if employees can't keep their pie holes shut, or if agents of candidates or other team owners are leaking info from their end. Villa has not officially stated who their candidates are. There are no quotes from anyone at Villa with the authority to give a statement on behalf of the club. Sometimes a little info is dangerous info and fuels the speculation.

I'm glad everything is so crazy. It allows me to hold onto the possibility of Carlo being appointed! It's going to be a bumpy few more days!
