  1. Watched 24hr Party People for the first time last night, really enjoyable stuff.

La Haine, if it hasn't been mentioned, is a fantastic french film about urban life. It formed the basis for 'kidulthood', which obviously was shit. but la haine is quality.

  2. **** it. just legalise it :S

    +1.

Unfortunately the majority of UK citizens view 'drugs' as a moral issue and feel that they are intrinsically evil.

To quote Dale of King of the Hill - I blame the media-blamers.

  3. I've never taken drugs of any type, not even a spliff.

Hoping to remedy that in the near future though ;-)

really cant go wrong if you have fizzy drinks, good snacks, and internet access.

  4. I should definitely read a lot more, at the moment I'm pretty much only interested in obtaining everything Philip.K.Dick's ever written. Greatest sci-fi author of all time?
Comparisons are odious, as they say, but certainly one of the greats.

Indeed. I got introduced to Phil upon my first ever visit to Amsterdam - it was Flow My Tears the Policeman Said. Needless to say, I got completely immersed in it and have been a big fan of his ever since.

Love his short stories as much as the novels.

  6. Heskey - 7.5 excellent finish and showed his value by providing a useful outlet up front, lacking some sharpness at times with a couple of typical "crap heskey" moments - but will be sharper at Wigan. Good lad Emile.

    subs -

    .

    ''excellent finish''? you're joking right?

Thought Heskey was poor today, could/should have scored more. probs did better than carew would have tho

Other than just about every word not being a true reflection of reality that's a great post.

He wasn't poor, he made a huge difference to our play, he had a coule of chances to score and converted one showing excellent awareness and reactions to do so and there is no "probably" about him doing better than that useless, lazy word removed Carew would have done.

The ball hit him, hence why he was smirking for about 20 mins afterwards

  8. Would agree with a fair amount of it but sacking GH now would damage the clubs reputation significantly.

That, for me, is why I would pull back for now.

How would it damage our reputation? If anything, showing this cut-throat attitude toward anything below-par will represent our high standards and ambitions

  9. I have a list of specific grievances for which I would love explanations, but will clearly never get. Regardless:

    1) He stayed on at his post in the French FA for an extra 2 weeks before arriving. why? This has been massively overlooked.

    2) He eventually arrives, says we are a 8-12 club (good research Hou), and that we have a reputation for being bottlers across Europe. Cheers.

    3) He slags off a bunch of Villa players, publically. Whether or not they deserve it is irrelevant, Villa don't do things that way. Especially not when the manager has been there for all of a few weeks.

    4) We are, all of a sudden, cannon fodder on the pitch. Tactictally naive, but, more worryingly, no motivation or confidence is visible in any of our players, young or old.

    5) All of the above coincides with his strict new training regimes, and im not just talking physically - he has banned non-football related conversations on the training pitch and has banned mobile phones from Bodymoor altogether. I'm no man-manager but most modern footballers think their s**t is made of pure gold, and I can see most of them not enjoying this.

    6) Signing Bobby Pires, and starting him against Arsenal. No Villa fan can deny that seeing him hobble around just so he could have his testimonial for 45 mins - stunk of a managerial howler. Honestly, what was he thinking?! did he just want someone around to philosophise in french and sip good red with?

    7) He then enjoys his own testimonial last night, after a pathetic 0-3 pasting. What a f***ing joke.

Get rid, the guy might be lovely to have a conversation with, but he ain't up to modern management

  10. General, interested to see how/if you defend GH after his comments tonight, as detailed in the previous posts. Utterly unforgivable. His actions were a complete disgrace, and if Randy and yerself are happy to let him act like this then I will have nothing more to do with Aston Villa. And I **** love this club. Can't adequately put into words how pissed off I am right now. The man has loyalty to one club in this country and it ain't Aston Villa.

    (Estimate) + 100,000

  11. The below are all taken from this forum, post-match:

"At the end of the game he clapped the Liverpool fans and didn't give two monkeys **** about the 1500 or so of us that had to ensure that tripe but still out sung the kop."

"I was there mate and have said the very same thing, in the **** cold weather we had not only a shit team to watch but OUR manager applauding the Kop, for that reason he should go!"

"Our away support as ever was tremendous not in number tonight but certainly in voice. The fact he was more interested in acknowledging the Liverpool fans really hurt me. Say what you like about the ex manager but as far as the away support was concerned the man always went out of his way to acknowledge us, praised us to the hilt and genuinely appreciated us. This f***er doesn't give two monkeys."

"You know what hurts as well though. I'm just back from Anfield and at the end of 90 mins of gutless tripe and having still out sung the kop from start to finish the manager was more interested in acknowledging the Liverpool fans with a clap and a wave than acknowledging his own teams fans. It was disrespectful and an absolute disgrace."

Houllier's behaviour tonight was completely unacceptable, and if it continues, Villa fans will not put up with it.

  12. The only glimmer of hope tonight was the fans, who are a true credit for the club. Out-sang the 'famous KOP' even when 3-0 down on a miserable monday night.

I'm torn because while Houllier is clearly not getting things right, I feel totally let down by L.Young, R.Dunne, and J.Collins. Warnock was always a liability after his initial good form. These are experienced players, and as long as Houllier hasn't specifically told them to not mark their men, and clear the ball properly, then the blame rests at them.

How can we expect Gabby and co to keep their heads up when we're doing O.K going forward but concede as soon as we lose posession? We're in contention to score first, but then your back line, and your captain, are making hideous gaffes all over the shop and we concede twice.

I was very disappointed with the attitude tonight but I thought our offensive players were largely blameless.

  13. I'm not confident at all, i think GH's love affair with Liverpool will see him creaming about them.

im getting a bit sick and tired of all this emotional garbage. first pires against arsenal - why the **** did he start, im sure Hou saw him unable to run properly in training...

and now all this shit in the media about Hou and the plop fans, just **** get us some points will you?!?!?!
