  1. It is stated in black and white, on the first page of the confirmation of who was driving letter that "Correspondence will not normally be entered into....." I guess I'm going to have to contest it just because I have very little going on at the moment and this could be a bit of fun trying to get away with. In fact, thinking about it I'm sure that the variable speed limit had only been reduced to 60mph when I passed it.

  2. OK I'll be honest, I didn't see the 40mph sign because I was trying to get my cigarettes out of my coat pocket, and my coat was on the back seat. I had written a telephone number on the packet during a piss-up the night before and the person I was talking with on the phone needed it.

  3. When the Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty arrives I'm going to respond and ask for the photo, which I'm pretty sure will look something like this -

Then ask for what reason was the speed limit reduced? Do the camera enforcement agency keep track of the exact times that these limits are imposed? What if the speed limit came on a split second before I passed?

  4. 62 in a 40 is frowned upon

    Time to start worrying

Time to start worrying about what? 62 on a 3 lane motorway in clear conditions I doubt will be frowned upon. Maybe if I was passing a school or through a built-up area then yeah but not in these circumstances

  5. Yeah it was in the red circle above the carrageway, I really don't think I have any chance either but I'm going to try anyway. Do you get a ban for frivolous appeal?

  6. Got a speeding ticket doing 62mph through a temporary 40mph where the M6 Toll meets the M42 going South.

Considering that the 40mph temporary limit was shown on the overhead indicators but the 3 lane carraigeway was totally clear (the photograph will only show my vehicle present from any distance), it was a clear bright morning 08:30 am and my speed was not particularly excessive, how do you think my chances would be of appealing and getting this overturned?

  7. I think it's hard to give instruction for putting, as its all about feel and touch but as for general swing and ball contact (off the green) a couple of things have helped me considerably lately.

You have probably heard of John Richardson but if not, he set himself a target of shooting a par round within 12 months after previously shooting 100+ scores. He kept a diary and wrote a book titled Dream On (a reference to Sam Torrance's response when asked about John's chances) documenting his year ahead and really is a good read. A couple of things I took from his book was the 'anchor', the use of a word or expression which evokes a positive and confident feeling before addressing the ball. The 'clear key' another phrase or term that has nothing to do with golf whatsoever, you repeat your clear key in your head whilst you swing, taking away the chance of any silly thoughts during your swing. Lastly, just focussing your eyes on the smallest, tinyest point on the back of the golf ball and nothing else. These 3 things have helped me loads in the last couple of weeks.

  8. 18, my target this year is to get down to 14

Went from 24 down to 19.9 last year, which i was really chuffed about. 15 or 16 is the aim for this time next year. My short game, especially my putting, lets me down.

It's strange, i actually feel more confident/comfortable playing in from 100-130 yards than i do from 20-30 yards, i tend to "quit" on the shorter shots instead of accelerating through the ball.

At least you know what you are doing wrong. For mid to high handicappers nearly all of duffed short shots are due to the club head speed through the ball. It's a confidence thing, take a shorter back swing but make sure you accelerate the club through the ball at all times.

  9. A school friend of mine who I've not seen for a number of years now was amazing at Snooker. It started when he needed somewhere to go while he bunked off school, then the needed to bunk off school to regularly practice. He would knock in 80+ breaks for fun and on occassion 100+ this was as a 15 year-old and was a real joy to watch. Then alcohol became fun, he met a girl, knocked her up and got a job as an electrician. Not much money in Snooker anyway, he said.

  10. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a worse full back in the Premier League

briefly off the top of my head

    James Perch

    Paul Robinson

    Andre Santos

    Steve Gohouri

    Emmerson Boyce

    Wayne Bridge

    Nicky Shorey

    their is others

I've not seen Hutton do anything to make me think he's any better than that bunch.

  12. But it wasn't staged was it? The Polar Bear was nursing a cub as it would do if it were anywhere else, Arctic, Zoo, my back garden or wherever. The fact that the scene in question occurred in a different place than the BBC would have you believe is irrellevant.

  13. It's just a reason for the British to be outraged again after another example of deceiving the public. Attenborough has got it spot on IMO. Polar bears are actually born in the arctic and not all in a film set cave in Holland after all.

  14. So do I, although he would have paid the entrance fee I suspect he would have asked for his money back when he saw the length of the lines for the rides.

Randy was only there to see what the oppostion were doing because he had thought about opening a rival fairground next door.

Unfortunatley, the competition was too tough so Randy decided to cut his losses and concentrate on his other ventures......
