We scored one of the best goals this ground has seen in years, and 15 minutes later we could’ve been 5-1 down. Awful. Bruce out.

What a kick in the knackers. Maybe we should get a new medical dept who don’t need 2 **** days to work out if a players fit or not.
As an aside you really don’t hear the word knackers enough these days

So many long balls. Jedinak, Baker and Chester fantastic. A point against a team intent on playing kick and run I'll take and onto Blackburn.

Boyle Sports are only offering 9/2 to stay up compared to Stan James @ 14/1!
They may have inside information
1/40 to go down, yet 9/2 to stay up.......BoyleSports don't give much away do they!

Would he offer more than Nzogbia???
Where is the photo of my pet brick when I need it....
I LOVE MY N'ZOGBIA

In Talksport's scientific poll, our away kit has been voted 2nd worst in the league this year. Behind Swansea and Sunderland's monstrosities....
I don't expect many to take much away from this, but it's as good an excuse as any to dislike Talksport a bit more.

Hopefully Gestede, Kozak, Ayew & Gabby have all impressed enough in training to convince Tim that spending these kind of wages just isn't needed. 4 strikers (plus upcoming players from youth) SHOULD be enough for a team without European commitment anyway.

You look like the guy from Gaslight Anthem which makes me like you even more. Welcome to Aston Villa and my fantasy league team.

I'd prefer the 2 floating number 10's in Grealish and Gil to Young. I'm a sucker for an emerging talent and Grealish is undoubtedly that, Gil quite possibly.
Gil, Grealish, Amavi and Bacuna whipping in crosses. Like Benteke before him, this guy would have a **** field day. Though he does appear a touch 1 dimensional?
It's those set pieces though. It's been so many years since we last had someone who can take one. Probably since Young!
Sure Veretout took some mean dead-balls in the mandatory youtube reel !

Boy there's some awkward interviews coming up for all involved eh?

To me the bit before the comma contradicts the bit after it.I don't think we will be relegated if we sold Benteke & Delph, lets be frank they have both been key players in a struggling team over the last three years.
What I was thinking, I tried to analzye every possible meanging in my head and only came up with they were the only good players in a shit team...and without them...even shitter?
I can understand it - we've been dog-awful with them in the team for a few years now. Why not freshen things up completely. Not to say I agree with it, but I understand the thinking

Crikey, a bollock load of goals today eh? MOTD will certainly be worth a watch....

Captains Steven Gerrard and Nemanja Vidic will release 96 balloons shortly before kick-off in memory of those who died in the 1989 tragedy.
There will also be several crowd mosaics:
• "The Truth" will be displayed on the Kop
• "Justice" on the Lower Centenary Stand
• "96" on the Anfield Road end
What will be 'enough' commemoration do you think? :?

When did we last sign someone after 6pm ? Genuine question.
Yesterday at three minutes past 7!
Haha!

Carroll to West Ham 'according to Sky Sources'........
-
Time to realise that Bannan, Delfouneso, Clark, Baker, Lichaj etc etc haven't had a very good game in 2 years+.......it probably isn't going to start magically happening now.

I have just recently posted a AVFC West Ham Utd match review, please use the following link - http://footballfanstoday.co.uk/2012/08/22/style-but-no-substance/
Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Cheers!
**** off with your spam!
No worse than most of the dross on this thread!

Fun as this thread is, there's a sobering undertone to the whole thing:
while the likes of West Ham, QPR and Sunderland are spending big money on players and wages, we're treading water, bringing in bargain bucket signings and expecting to be able to compete.
If Lerner continues down this 'wage cutting' road with one in and one out while all the other teams improve, we'll be in the Championship before long.
It's a serious situation and although it's fun to speculate on an unknown black hand, the truth is that we're sinking like a stone in the 'money talks' world of modern football.
Sorry to be such as pessimist - I know that Moyes is making it work at Everton doing the same, but I'm not sure our squad is as good as his!
QPR, Sunderland and West Ham are spending fortunes on overpriced or past it average/bog standard footballers though......I'd much rather us bide our time to sign the right players than do what QPR are doing.
I don't want us to be a part of the world where Jarvis and Dawson are worth 10m!

They're in for a real shock then aren't they?On the Olsson to Villa for Warnock + £2.5m rumour......
I'm serious. If he's mixed then it could very well be Olsson, but if he was proper black (like Heskey) then it could be M'Bia. I'm just trying to narrow it down. How black was he?It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.
-
Bahhhh, I'd only but a bet on him to score first on Saturday yesterday afternoon too (20/1 with Coral!)
-
Mike Dean reffing........wonderful!
2-1 Villa, Bent double.
-
if the wages were sensible ie. 25k a week max
Thats the problem right there.
There doesn't seem to have been a stampede to sign him up so far. £25K a week is better than nothing. He might be damn glad of any offer now.
There's a damn fine reason why there hasn't been a stampede to sign him so far......

Steve Clarke kept a few contacts ey....

Ran around a lot but that was about it, looked very very average to me.
That was just from the Nottingham game? What about the other friendlies?
His finishing has been good - couple of very nice goals in preseason
