Man City won't take no for an answer. Money talks, unfortunately.

You're a relegation threatened club who has just sold their best player and a team that has won 2 titles in 4 years has just put in for him. If you think this is about money then you're just not paying attention.

I'm not "here just to cause trouble".  I've been a member here for 6 years, I thought I'd come over and have a look at what Villa fans were saying about this and apparently pointing out that a player moving from a relegation threatened team to a team winning trophies and in the CL might actually be a bit more then money motivated is apparently now trolling behaviour.  Not something that almost every football fan in the world accepts, including when it happened to us, on here this counts as trolling.

Thats because this is a site for villa fans,  specifically this is a section for villa fans.  Villa fans discussing villa players and when a fan from another club comes on the thread to talk about the potential or not for a villa player to be moving and in doing that expresses an opinion which is the polar opposite to the one being given,  it can be considered trolling or have you not been paying attention?

So you mean you're trying to formulate an echo chamber?

Delph last week - rejects mcfc

Delph today - signs for mcfc

What did mcfc win in the space of 6 days?

Nothing but nobody here or on BM knows what the story is yet nor what happened in terms of the second turn, so we don't know why he did it.  But boiling doiwn his attraction to City as purely financially based is idiotic

id saying considering all the loyalty statements and then last week saying hes staying...if he does got City hes another money grabbing England international for man city to ruin

50k to stay villa captain or 70k to sit on the bench and chat to nasri dzeko bony

Just like Milner and Barry were never going to play and were money grabbing international to be ruined by City?

Both now have Premier League winners and FA Cup winners medals, and both played in the Nou Camp and Bernabau with Milner excelling away in Munich.

I wish people would ruin me like that.

It's 100% a fake picture. 100%. People need to chill the **** out. It's a retouched shot of Sterling that likely took all of 10 minutes in Photoshop

Not only is the picture 100% NOT a fake who anybody with even the slightest knowledge of photo manipulation could tell you
    I'm a graphic designer

    It's fake you tart

    I can't wait until he's announced later.

This deal is on and it will be finalised today.  Shirt on the website, official announcement finalised.

  8. Man City fan comes on here to plead his club and fans aren't rocket polishers and in doing so makes himself look like a rocket polisher.

    Hilarious.

Not really, I got bored of trying to argue on a logical level, so thought I'd throw out a thinly veiled insult for a change.

Anyway, we at BM do moderate very loosely and it is a purposeful decision, we like the anarchy of it all. We get idiots, geniuses and everywhere in between.

I would argue the opposite; I think we overpaid for Milner certainly but not for Barry. He's been a lynchpin in our team since arriving. He's one of those players who doesn't look like he is doing much, but seems to do very simple jobs better than anyone else we have. Milner's played CM for the last few games and has done well. He was put on the wing because Kolarov was injured and we needed someone who could cover Zab defensively, which Milner did well.

  9. You know, I should really stop defending Villa fans to others. You guys are rapidly becoming scousers.

Boo hoo. Go have a look at your own back garden ie Blue Moon before insulting anyone elses intelligence. If you don't like it then disable your account or something. I have to laugh at your absolute arrogance - coming onto another clubs forum with your condescending tripe.

I like how you think that "scousers" is a synonym for "stupid".

Speaking of laughing, how's that whole "we'll finish above you" stuff that your guys were coming out with on BM working out for you?

  10. Yes, I do. Balo and Mancini are like Hughes and Bellamy; they are a package deal. Unfortunately for Balo, he has been pre-judged by people and everything that he does is now proof that he is a word removed, whether or not anybody bothered to question it. Example, the Boateng fight, I see that this picture wasn't posted:

Or this one, shot a bit later:

I don't mind people slagging us off for the shit that we have done wrong. We could have handled the Lescott transfer better, we could have handled the Hughes sacking better. We've made mistakes as have every club, us more than usual because we are in a period of rapid transition.

City employ a large number of people, with about 100 of them being football staff in some way, shape or form. I just don't think that slagging off an entire club, especially one who has just been honoured in the 2018 bid by putting our youth development and community programs in front of the entire word, is particularly fair.

I don't expect praise, and no matter what some people will hate you for their own reasons; my annoyance comes from the fact that 75% of posts on this thread aren't 'fair'. Say what you want about Villa fans, but during my visits here around the time of the Barry transfer, you guys were mostly fair. Even during the Milner transfer, you guys had an air of logic behind the criticisms, but now it's just spun into a mess of bitterness which is frustrating. I visit here every week or so just to have a nosey on what you guys are doing, and all over the forum this seems to be occurring, not just in threads abut City.

Oh, and you guys really dislike Cook, which is part funny and part stupid. Say what you want about him, but not only is he a nice guy in person, he's also extremely good at his job.

  11. Reading this thread is like reading Bluemoon a year or so ago, with the same opinions on Ireland being trotted out.

The fact is, Ireland can play in a small patch of the pitch just behind and to the right of the striker. Even then, he blows hot and cold. Ireland had his best ever time at City when he had the flair of Robinho to play off of, without this he mostly looks lost.

Also, don't talk about his fishtank, he's a sensitive lad on that issue.

  12. Mercenary!

Speaking after the Blues' 2-0 win against Timisoara in the Europa League, the former Togo striker stated he is ready to leave the club if an offer comes in for him.

The former Arsenal striker is one of the first dissident voices At City following the club's £100million spending spree over the summer.

Abebayor said: "The season is going to be very long and very difficult for myself. I'm a footballer and have to keep going and not give up. I need to keep fighting for myself and enjoying my football.

"If you're in a team and you're not playing, and there is a team that comes in for me, then I will definitely be on my way out because I'm a footballer and I love playing.

"So if I don't have a chance to play here there will a lot of chance to play somewhere else. If they [Manchester City] force you out then you always have to follow your destiny."

    I know it's Talksport but......

He's a mercenary because he wants to play football rather than sitting on the bench?

  13. The one thing that the history of football has shown, is that there is always something 'ruining the game', usually concerning money. You can go all the way back to the 19th century and 'shamatuerism' and hear the exact same arguments that we hear today.

The fact remains that as long as people will pay money to watch football, either by going to the ground or by buying a Sky TV subscription, the money will continue. It isn't necessarily a bad thing either. Look at the standard of English football pre Sky and post Sky, look at the increased crowds as the game's appeal was broadened from the traditional working class roots (obviously, post Taylor report for comparison), look at the variety of football games we get to watch now - Brazilian, Argentinian, Spanish, Italian, German, Scottish, English, Japanese and Australian leagues are easily found to watch and any fan of football as a game should appreciate watching different styles and different players.

The problem seems to be that many fans become disillusioned as they were under an impression that some players were somehow loyal to their clubs in front of themselves. I can only really think of Le Tissier who ever put the well being of a club in front of his own ability to win trophies and earn money; something which has left him with nothing to show for his two decades of football as one of the league's talented players, apart from a highlight reel, a few sparse caps and worship from Southampton fans.

  14. Neither of you will "get" Ireland. Give me one good reason why we would sell such a good player to either of you. Not exactly strapped for cash and there are many more players we will sell before him.

Indeed show me one direct quote from Either City or Ireland Stating he is off. The only quote i have seen from the lad is to say how he is detirmind to stay and prove his worth..... I don't see Milner rushing to say the same. The only thing you are basing your theories on is shite toilet paper articles during a slow transfer window.

Attitude problem there? I know for a fact Spuds have been in talks with you over him, suck my fat one!

Utter fabrication according to the man himself.

  15. I wasn't getting on my high horse about anything; as I've said in the past, this type of thing just seems to be all over football and it isn't worth getting upset about. If Ireland sees himself having a better future at City and Spurs pay our asking price, then more power to him. He's done a great job for us in the past, and I hope he does again the future

    Harry ponders City raid

Harry Redknapp has hinted that he could look to Manchester City in his bid to strengthen the Tottenham squad without spending too much, although he has played down talk of a move for Stephen Ireland.

The Spurs manager has been thwarted in his pursuit of some transfer targets this summer, with Joe Cole opting to join Liverpool and West Ham rejecting an offer for Scott Parker.

Redknapp is still looking to bring in reinforcements but does not necessarily believe that he has to splash major cash.

He therefore doubts whether Spurs would be able to afford Ireland, who has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane from Man City.

Redknapp does, however, believe that Eastlands could be the place to shop for some bargains before the transfer deadline.

City need to trim their squad to get down to 25 before the start of September and may be prepared to loan out a number of players.

"I just need a couple of fresh faces that would make the difference," Redknapp said in The People.

"One or two walk through the door and it gives everybody a lift. I hoped Joe Cole would have done that if he'd come here but I think there are one or two out there who would do the same - maybe from Manchester City.

"I reckon there's two or three players out there where you don't have to spend any real money on. I think there will be a lot of loans about, because teams are going to loan people out just to get them off the wage bill.

"City look like they might have to do that with one or two because they've got a big squad so it will be interesting.

"Stephen Ireland would cost too much. I like him but he is expensive at £11million or £12million.

"We wouldn't be in a position to spend that much on him, it would be a problem."

    King dilemma

As well as mulling over his transfer options, Redknapp is facing a major dilemma over the fitness of key defender Ledley King.

The England international is struggling with his ongoing knee problem ahead of the start of the new season and Redknapp is not willing to take any risks.

The Spurs boss admits he may have to leave King out of the Premier League opener against Manchester City to ensure he is ready for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifier a few days later.

"The start of the season is a real problem - just look at Ledley. I'm either going to play him in Europe or in the league," Redknapp explained.

"We start with Man City which is a big opening game so do I play him against Man City or do I play him in the Champions League?

"At the moment Jonathan Woodgate is struggling, Ledley's come back but his knee's not great, so we've got to be careful.

"That Champions League qualifier is massive for us now. We've worked hard to get there and we want to get into the group stages otherwise all the good work we put in last season won't count for anything.

"If Ledley is fit the chances are I'll save him for that because those two qualifying games are now the bigger games for us."

Hehe, Harry up to his old tricks again.

  17. Am I the only person who thinks that it would be better for us to just ask for £24m and get it all over and done with? I can't help but feel that Milner won't be anything like the same player we saw last season if he stays.

If there really isn't much money available to MON then surely it would be better for us to get the deal done and move on and bring some more players in who do want to play for us.

We could well have asked for 24 million. As far as we have seen, Man City have only made on bid, which was 20 million. You can be pretty sure if they made another, they would let Sky Sports know about it.

    And you'd be pretty wrong.

  18. 23 is retired because it was Marc Vivien Foe's number, who was a City player when he died on the pitch in the 2003 Confederations Cups. We have a lovely memorial garden for him as well outside Eastlands that's cared for by the fans.

Yeah, but it's not Citeh's garden; they just waited for a gardner to finish putting time, effort, and money into growing and nurturing his plot then 1 week before the Chelsea Flower Show offered him an obscene amount of money for it.

Considering it's a memorial garden planted, cared for and maintained by the fans from scratch in respect to a dead player, I can't help but feeling that this joke was in a bit poor taste.

Retiring the no. 23 shirt in respect for MVF is probably the only thing Citeh have done with any dignity that I can remember as I don't actually follow City, don't appreciate their history or in particularly their award winning City in the Community program that has been running for 50 years and making the lifes of the people of Manchester better. I'm also not aware who Carl Ramsbottom is, or Gordon Love, and haven't bothered to have a look at City's OS with videos that are tagged under "Charity" which document other things that the club do on a near daily basis..

    Fixed that for you.
