  1. Covent Garden is shit for drinking. Though having said that I may be in CG on the Sat Night but I'll be out with the family having a nice French Meal and that sums up CG at night, its theatre goers and people going out for a meal territory and off the top of me head its hard to think of many decent boozers (the one right next to the tube station is decent but every other pub I've been in around there is crap) oh and if you've got kids with you theres no chance of finding a pub that lets kids in, they mostly have doormen on too in the evening

I'd recommend all of the below, especially Nell Gwynne.

    Nag’s Head James Street

    Cove Covent Garden Piazza

    Essex Serpent King Street

    Roundhouse Garrick Street

    Maple Leaf Maiden Lane

    Nell Gwynne Bull Inn Court

    Coal Hole Strand

Think ill try a couple in each! Take it there is still no place planned for a meet.

Go on then. Here's a pub crawl I devised for work a few years back. Not all pubs are spectacular but could be fun for any Villans hanging around London on Sat.

  3. what pubs are people going to on the saturday night?

Ill be getting o it in Clapham and Battersea! Claps and batts for short.

Ill be around the Covent Garden area Sat night. Think the Porterhouse was mentioned for a place to meet up, and it does look ok to be honest! Dont no how to do a link sorry

  4. Will be in the Covent Garden area on the saturday night. Is there any plan for a Villa get together and early sing song?

i will be there too, any more about?

where you drinking in covent garden?

not a clue where as never been before so anyone who has a can name a good pub to meet up in im all for it!

  5. For the weds night game and cup final:

    U-N-I-T-E-D

    On the verge of bankruptcy,

With a nick nack paddy wack give the rags a loan,

    Ocean finance on the phone

I rememer all the times they used to come to villa park chanting for doug ellis. . . how times have changed!

    Like it

  6. Where is everybody staying?

On the Saturday night I am staying at my Yiddo mates in North London (Barnet I think), then on the Sunday I am in a hostel called Smart Russell Square which is near Euston station.

I'm staying in North London with a mate, reckon a trip into Camden or Soho might be in order on the saturday night.

roonst83, the quiet zone will be in the engine room of the train!

Me and 5 others travelling down sat morning,

Staying at the Hilton Metropole (£40 each) in Central London, so will be drinking around soho/westend on the sat night i think!

Driving back out to Hillingdon tube station Sun morning then will take it from there...pubs around Wembley i guess for a drink and a good sing song!!!:clap:

  7. Quick bit of info. Chiltern Railways currently have return to London for £19.50 or £23.50 including London travel. This leaves brum at 8.40 and gets in at quarter to 11 and leaves at 7 and back by 9.

All other trains have sold out advance tickets and it looks like £69 is the cheapest return on the trains.

Cheap options on coach but takes twice as long. Hope this helps.

Only thing i would say about this is, 7 o'clock is cutting it fine. If the villa win you probably wont be getting out of the ground till well after 5. The tube will be so busy, probably have to wait a bit, then to get across to one of the train stations could take some time (dont know which station the train leaves/or travel time from wembley to station) We were thinking of doing the same but thought it would be to close to call.

  8. Whats the crack with the pubs around wembley? Is there a pub, or area villa fans are going to be heading for on final day!!!? Will be down london town for the saturday night so any villa fans planning to meet then let it be known! let the invasion commence.

  9. No snow here (lichfield area) weather just said some around mid day but will be gone by early evening.

There will be times tonight when rovers are on top, thats natural in football, I just hope our fans stick with us and are constantly behind the team.

Sounds like they are going to come out and look for that early goal, and i think we will too. I agree with an earlier post about bringing Sidders in and maybe pushing one of the 3 (Young, Downing or Jimmy) up playing off gabby, it may just give us the extra threat from hitting them on the break. Plus with having the 5 across the middle while they have the ball, could we not let Sidders man mark (or niggle at) Dunne?

However I think that it will be the same side from the 1st leg and Sunday. I think he will stick with Carlos at the RB simply because he is better in the air than Luke Young, and the high ball is a big part of there game. I agree with playing Guzan again, just be prepared to have your hearts in mouths if he comes for a cross!

Cant wait for it tonight, already nervous, probably while i have just babbled on writing this!

COME ON YOU VILLA BOYS

    Hopefully :hooray:

  10. I think that he played carlos instead just for his ability in the air, and thats all Blackburn had really, long high balls. Carlos, Collison and Dunne delt with it well. Maybe young took a knock but that was me personal opinion.

Agree with posts above, i think that was probably the best away atmosphere i have been in, singing mon's claret and blue army with everyone jumping around swinging scarfs and tops around was a bgreat sight and very happy to have been amongst it all....even with a broken neck :-)

  11. Not meant to be any snow up there on Thurs so hopefully this will go ahead. I'm up in Leeds tomorrow so leaving there about 4 on Thurs afternoon, should be plenty of time, weather permitting...

weather is absolutely fine up here Padders. Pretty much all snow melted, and haven't had and fresh powder, FTL :(

    game will be on 100%.

Has anyone else had a sh1t load more snow this morning (im near Lichfield)?? I really hope this isnt going to be moving northwards over today and tommorrow, could be a close call!

Do we know that the pubs around the ground are definately going to be open before the game?

  12. Was out with a mate last night who owns the Chauffers coach company.

He has been told (by the police) that no pubs around the ground will be open, and that coaches are being told no to head for pubs within a 10mile radius of the ground. Any closer and the old bill will move them on.

Plus all coaches will be searched for alcohol.

so even the locals in burnley cant get a tot after there shift down pit... cant see a 10 mile ban radius...

Just going with what I was told. Normally a good source with away games. Think he was going up on monday to have a chat with pubs around the area to see what he could sort out.
