Excited about Given. Not sure why people are too concerned with the shoulder. Downing had a broken ankle when he joined and he was our player of the year last season. Players get injured and then they recover.

Given was awesome at Newcastle for many years and I'm sure will do well for us for a couple seasons more to come. He is the best option that was available to us without doubt.

Foster was a bit of a Robert Green before last year. He was consistently making errors at Man Utd. Given has never had that problem. Of the keepers linked to us Given is by far the most proven and best.

don't understand the negative response to Given. Before he went to City he was probably the best keeper in the league and is 5 years younger than Friedel who was excellent but not as good as Given a couple of years back. I'm not a supporter of the decision to employ McLeish but I have been doing some research. Earlier I posted the link to that story about his time with Houllier at Lyon. Here is another story where Dick Advocaat speaks of McLeish's qualities when he got the Rangers job. It is interesting stuff.
