  1. It was all about fitness levels yesterday and we fell way short. Palace seemed to have far better athletes than we did and were mentally up for the game, our heads seem to drop to easily when the tables are turned. We know our faults therefore we have to add to this team and get them fitter for the new season. Yes it has been a good season but the better teams improve from last year and that is what Unai will want, i would happily have lost 2-0 yesterday but 5-0 is not the way to end the season.

  2. Villa fans only ever want a shot at being something and the hope is that this set up are the real deal. I get to distracted by watching Unai at the games and to me he has the conviction of a winner with his passion and demand for his team to be successful, the man has tunnel vision and will drive the rest forward because that is the only place he looks. Just hang onto this guys tails has he will demand progress.

    In my best Unai voice

    Uppa the Villaa

  3. How did Unai not do an ACL last night?  the man lives and breathes this club and has brought a belief that we can be someone again. Big John  is a pure crashing ball and for all our fancy footwork is what was needed on the night, the boys gave a good account of themselves and played to the masters tune. Two or three new players in key areas, manage minutes for players and we could give Europe a go next season,   onwards and upwards God bless Don Unai .

Coz we are living in Unai times.

  4. That's why Paul McGrath was so great he played many seasons with spent Knees and had to use positioning to be a magnet for the ball.

We still won't be subbing players at half time on a regular basis.

Nobody said he had to just nice to have that option and capability.

  6. I know i am being a bit greedy here, but to me we need two good players in every position with champions league football on the horizon to be able to use both players in a game for a 45 minute minutes just like we can use bailey and Diaby and then have a Rodgers and Ramsey combo for a half apiece. We need to focus on minutes for players to cut the injury and fitness risks, where by we lose players for a long period of time through and have poor replacements or using Konsa to play in every position. Unai has us on the conveyor belt type of football where having a squad will be all important and we know the man see's the future, what a time to be a Villa fan.

  7. Brentford came with a game plan and doubled up on bailey because the whole world knows he will cut inside every time. He has to learn to go past players on his right and cut a ball in to mix his game up, once they had our main attacking threat in hand they grew in confidence. The slow approach by us with the ball  takes away the amount of attacks we launch in a game and then we are up against a full defence who have the advantage of numbers back in a formation. We have to mix our game up now and then or the opposition can plan to nullify it. We do suffer from a rabbits in the headlights when the opposition go all out with guns blazing.  Leadership qualities are lacking in most of our senior players.

Didn’t he collide with a post from a set piece? What does CB vs RB have to do with that?

The point was more to do with how many more minutes konsa played than most other players who were being subbed with 15 minutes to go and rested but konsa was just moved to another position on the park and therefore his chance of injury was made the more probable to occur. The more minutes you play the more chance you have of colliding with that post or simular.

  9. Probably the mistake was to play Konsa here there and everywhere in games and the lad was bound to pick up an injury. To much football for one player to cope with and constant risk to that player but we are here now and the bare bones of a squad to deal with.

  10. Men against boys last night, our midfield got destroyed by Gallagher and Fernandes. The lack of energy from our team was a major worry and we were bullied all night by athletes v part timers. Why that keeper was wasting time i do not know because we did it ourselves  by just passing around the back and never looking to be positive.
