I keep asking this and no one ever answers

I've seen mention of a sleeve sponsor... Who is our new sleeve sponsor?

Is it known? Or is it just that value of existing one ( Trade Nation ) has been doubled?

    It's unclear at the moment.

  2. To be fair I think a few on SM were saying this time last year that Chelsea would come good for this season!

It's a very interesting summer ahead of them: imo just as things could go right they could also go horribly, horribly wrong for them. Their FFP issue looms over their summer (they're trying to sell Gallagher and Chalobah, etc.). From the sounds of it they're going to be looking for a new manager: Poch's been saying stuff in press conferences that really sound like he knows he's gone in the summer.

In a managerial market where the demand for top coaches far exceeds supply (look how badly Bayern are struggling!) that may not be ideal if they don't have someone lined up.

I think it's possible that they handle this well and come out a strong team, but there are a lot of concerns that, combined with the track record of their owners, they could end up regressing if they appoint a dud and/or mismanage another transfer window.

  3. Would have been pretty concerned if they beat Burnley 4-0 or something big like that: instead they've just about scraped by one of the worst teams playing out from the back I think I've seen in years.

    Roll on end-of-season run-in City.

  4. Not directly Blues related, but Troy Deeney might have the biggest disparity between ego (Rates himself alongside Aguero and the best ever strikers in the Premier League) and actual footballing ability (Alright bottom half Prem striker) of any footballer

He’s playing through a calf injury and having an operation when season is over. He will play in the last three games.

The Athletic are saying that his season's over: is there something suggesting otherwise?

Edit: Seen that Ange didn't say he was unavailable in his press conference earlier on today: given the timeframes of the announcements you might be right. Or Ange's lying.

Villa Store set to close for improvements following final home game of the season

Aston Villa would like to remind supporters that the Villa Store at Villa Park will be closing after our home fixture against Liverpool on Monday, May 13.

This is to allow a considerable schedule of works to commence ahead of a multi-million-pound project that will transform our club store and double its size.

Our exciting new club store, which is due to open later in the summer, will give fans their greatest ever shopping experience at Villa Park that will be packed with fresh new products for the 2024/25 season.

Until our new store launches, there will be no shop available at the stadium.

Despite their best efforts to injure him, can't fault the effort tonight.

Clearly playing through the pain barrier too, that knee's been strapped up for a few weeks.

How Man City have done against Spurs in the past is pretty much irrelevant. The way they play now is a million miles from the way they played under Conte for example. They are leaking goals like a sieve (13 in their last 4 games) and there is no team better able to exploit that than Man City.

There also can't have been many times Man City have played Spurs needing to win to keep the destiny of winning the title in their own hands with one game to go. Man City will be on their A game and I can't see Spurs keeping it down to less than a two goal defeat.

Exactly. Conte and Mourinho both have a much, much better track record against Man City than your typical manager (both have won more than they've lost against Pep): Ange isn't proven in this regard.

Plus, Spurs lost to City at home this season in the League Cup...

Not sure if it's negativity or preapring to face reality. The reality is, if we don't hit Chmpion's league this season, we are likely to get asset stripped of some of best players, and we'll never be able to break into it. Unfortunately we've lost all form at a time where just one win would have seen us secure Champions league. Spurs have 6 points pretty much gift wrapped for them so they're only 1 point behind us... I think there's every right to be concerned and if you're not concerned based on the football gods historically shitting on us.... I don't see the positivity at this stage, sorry

The positivity is that we're 2 games away from the end of the season and we're 4th. 4th! That's f'ing incredible!

The football gods historically crap on us? If anything, we've almost had plot armour these past 5 years with what we've been doing: somehow getting some of the best owners in the world as opposed to asset stripping chancers during our darkest moment, the incredible run to get playoff promotion, the Sheffield United non-goal helping to keep us up, Europe on the final day last season.

Burnley have lost 2 in 9 and will be fighting for their lives. Hardly 'gift wrapped' points for a Spurs that have looked lost lately. Then they're up against a Man City having their annual unstoppable end of season form. Relax, see what happens.

And the permutations are all moot if we grab a single point against an inconsistent Liverpool or a Palace that will probably be on the beach.

  10. He was our main attacking outlet tonight. Probably genuinely our 7th choice: everyone else was injured. Obviously he's not going to be very effective. A shame, really.

  11. If we had just a few of Tielemans/Rogers/Ramsey/Zaniolo/Buendia we would have gone to the final tonight imo. Had no options to shake it up with attacking midfielders who offer variety and quality in attack: Cash being the key target tonight speaks for itself with how we're pretty much down to our 6th/7th choice of attacking outlet. Of course we're going to be ineffective, no team in the world could handle that

It's unlucky. It happens. Onwards we go, almost at the finish line. 53 games and so, so many injuries.

Did they shorten Martinez's contract without telling us lol?
