We will already had a whole season to judge him, he's not going to turn into a different player in pre-season.

I would suggest otherwise - It’s only time that will tell.

  2. I definitely would like him to stay - there is a baller in there, I am confident in this.

He should be given the opportunity of a pre season imo and then judged.

I have faith - this is a test, he passes with flying colours.

I feel about this guy like I did about prime Gareth Barry (before the transfer saga).  So classy, an absolute diamond of a footballer.

Maybe we should let the transfer thingy go possibly. Guy was a class act for us and in my humble opinion is a Villa legend 👍🏻

With a bit of luck he can become our all time PL goal scorer by the end of the year.

I really hope he does become our record goal scorer, can’t wait until that useless Pratt Gobby is no longer able to claim this prize.

    He’s very very raw

He is extremely raw, but also coupled with moments when you think  “ hang on a moment “

I would persevere for now tbh

Not sure why Diaby and Zaniolo get grouped together, Diaby has been brilliant for us at times, people were purring that he was well worth the money and surely worth more, he has four goals and seven assists, six goals in all competitions, so that's already a great contribution, with more probably to come, and of course he will refind his form.

    For Zaniolo it's different

Personally I would not call it a great return tbh with you. But like you I believe he will recapture his form.
I also believe Zaniolo will, but possibly not with us sadly

    He's miles better than Zaniolo

I think you are right and I still believe we have a “ baller “ in Zaniolo whether we get to see this is a different matter, but the prospect of seeing Emi back in the shirt is exciting

We will all have our own idea of how bright our future is, I think we're progressing nicely, we're increasing incomes year on year and hopefully about to make a big jump on that through our sponsorship deals, we have a good squad with a lot of value in it, a good academy that's starting to produce following it's revamp and very good owners.

There will be setbacks, both on the pitch and off, but I think we're well positioned to establish ourselves among the 'great eight' who will be competing for stuff over the next few years.

I'm enjoying the brightness of now, for me, that's always the best way to do it.

I make you right, we are ahead of my expectations that is for sure - Also without looking through a claret/blue lens - I really do not believe Newcastle were five better than us, on the opening day, I also feel in both the home Newcastle/Chelsea game, whilst being off it, in the first half - we conceded the second at totally the wrong time, which effectively ended these games.

With an element of luck, we could be in an even healthier position. Definitely half full for me.

  9. Very poor today - but to be fair, Bailey is typical of most wingers, Never been his greatest fan, but I certainly don’t hold today against him.
    should defo start on Thursday

My heart breaks for him. 3 or 4 years ago he had the world at his feet. He looks an absolute shadow of that player.

I hope Galatasaray can afford to keep him and that he can get back to scoring goals for them.

I'd love for him to be somebody's hero. Sadly, I don't think he's gonna be ours.

I think you are most probably right - unfortunately this happens sometimes with overseas players.

The premier league as we know is very unforgiving.

I still see a player in Sansom - but the same happened with him.

Despite this - there is no way I would have Trez, over him - as I have seen on here.

He might break Agbonlahor's record this season at this rate 🤣

I do hope so - really cannot stand Gobby.

Shocking footballer - who took the mick out of a club he claims to follow.

Ollie would be a worthy goal scoring record holder.

not so sure, the link up with his and his brothers club and his son going on the books and Monchi, I think he is here for 5 years minimum

Well why wouldn't Bayern consider him ffs? He's an amazing manager.

That doesn't mean that he'd go because I don't think it's a very exciting project for him; he's already managed the modern-day French equivalent at PSG and I don't think he'd want to go back to being a smaller cog in a large machine with a lot less input than he has now.

Still though, it would make sense that they'd look at him.

Absolutely I totally agree - I would imagine they are not the only club president across Europe - looking enviously across the channel at B6.

Look we all know - Unai is here on a short term basis, but I feel we have him for a while yet, one more year at least, two at best.

I do believe that he has found a project that really hits home, but we can’t forget that he is an elite manager, and as such he will always attract offers from across Europe.

For me it’s a case of let’s enjoy the ride while it lasts and let’s see where we go. So far so bloody amazing 👍🏻

ability isn’t in question. I think he’s probably a yard quicker in his head than most of our players and his passing ability is superb,

I can think of someone else - who fits very nicely into this category 😀👍🏻

Id like to see Gabby convicted of some sort of drugs charge and all of his goals to be null and void

That’s the funniest thing you have ever posted 🤣🤣🤣

I really want Ollie to catch and beat Gabby’s record. I think he will too.

I think most Villa fans want to see Gobby’s record smashed. Might just bring him down a peg or two.

If I had to guess I reckon it’s going to be a while yet and the club have probably made the announcement today to give everybody boost after a pretty shit week.

I am not convinced this would be the clubs motivation to be truthful with you.

    A. Do the players need a boost after Sunday ? If I had played in this game, I think my mindset would be that we were very unlucky and that we played much worse, in beating Arsenal.

    B. How much of a boost can  the news of a players positive rehab have upon the group ( albeit about Ty )  who is still clearly some way off?

This is just my opinion - I could be totally miles of base 👍🏻

  19. Look we all know, Matty is not the best player in the squad, but he always tries his very best. I do think his starting point for the goal is questionable but I don’t hold this against him in any way.
I think he very much has a role to play in the run in

    Celebration was amazing.

I didn’t think he was excellent - but I guess he was just delighted to have got the goal we deserved. There are a lot worse celebrations going around these days

The very best managers have a plan b when things aren't working..........I want to see if Unai can change things as we haven't played well since Arsenal and Sheffield Utd didn't really give us a game.

But also, most teams will at some stage hit a difficult patch. Crikey even Man City.

We do look uncohesive at this moment, but I have little doubt we will come again.

Shocked he seems to have dodged many critics for last night, was terrible - wandered around like people were lucky to come see him. I now plenty of others weren’t great, but I think against the better teams he hinders us too much.

Personally I think this is harsh - until his injury, he was one of our better performers.

I think he is a class act and yes I agree, he didn’t have a good game last night, still a starter for me. IMO

  23. Not sure if anyone else has said this, apologies if so, I know we played poorly in the first half last night and also against the toon, but I can’t help but feel the timing of both third goals was crucial and literally knocked the stuffing out of us, along with any hope of getting back into both games.

Even among semi-recent players, I can't put him ahead of McGrath. Yes, Emi won the WC, but he played for a country capable of winning the WC. McGrath led an Irish squad to the WC quarterfinals, which was pretty remarkable for a country of its size and football history, and like Emi was in the discussion for best in the world at his position. Not to mention he won two trophies at Villa.

Let's not leave Billy Walker, Pongo Waring, and other old-timers out of the conversation either.

Will Emi be top 10 or maybe even top 5 in the club's history when all is said and done? Yes. But let's avoid recency bias.

Totally agree - Paul was simply out of this world.

Remember Emi trains every day of the week, just imagine, if Paul could have done this.

He may not even have joined us this being the case.

World class is an understatement for Paul
