He's too slow, he only scores penalties, he rarely shoots, he doesn't create goals, he gives away too many free kicks because of his lack of pace, he always gets knackered in the 2nd half and runs out of energy, he can't tackle, he can't header, no right foot. We won't miss him, get a young creative midfielder who actually scores a few goals alongside Petrov and you'll see.

I agree with none of this. In fact the complete opposite of what is said here for me.

I think you'd be hard pressed to come up with someone better in terms of consistancy and longevity over the last 5/10 years, who've we had whose been better?

Oh right well I didn't realise it was taken as read that we were only considering quality in terms of consistEncy and longevity. All those WPOTY that Gary and Phil Neville won should have given me a clue. IMO Laursen is a far better player as well as Carew and A. Young but not in terms of longevity.

I agree with some of this but he was 7th in the league for assists last season, he's just 2 behind 7th this season and he's averaged 8 goals a season for the past 5 years (admittedly most were pens). He is amazingly slow but he keeps possession very well and he has got a much better weaker foot than 90% of players.

Yeah, the only problem with that is the question "Who the **** is Mike Patt?" I've seen 2 of his fights now and he got beaten silly twice. After what Vera has achieved at HW/promised at LHW he should be demolishing fighters like that, until I see him KO a respectable 205er I'm steering clear of his bandwagon.

I loved the Matt Brown Pete Sell fight, i have watched that over and over again.

Brown was impressive but the finish was a bit spoilt cause Yves Lavigne is a terrible ref. He always makes mistakes, not usually that big though. Where are Herb Dean and Big John when you need em?

Was anyone impressed by Rampage? I wasn't particularly. I think he needs to have more tools than just boxing to beat Evans who is bigger than him. He's only got until May to get some new weapons though, I doubt he'll be getting that belt back then...

Right then, I've just checked and he's scored 20 goals in all competitions in one season ONCE in his career. He scored 21. Clicky I should probably point out that a lot of goals in his career have come from penalties unlike Carew.

I didn't put words in your mouth, I just assumed that the only fair way to compare strikers goals from teams in the same league where one gets more cup games than another was to use league totals. That way goals against lower league and small foreign sides won't distort the stats.

Carew hasn't got 20 goals in a season in his career, whilst Yak has done on a fair few occasions now..

Has he? I can't remember him getting 20 in a season "on a fair few occasions", certainly not in the league. I don't think his league total's ever got near 20. He is notorious for having a terrible second half to his seasons.

IMO missing Yakubu from New Year on is barely a disadvantage at all.

Surely the fact that we're odds on to finish in the top 4 would skew your test. We should instead pray that Gabby scores 10 goals in all of our remaining fixtures and if that happens I'll consider my belief in god. Hell if that happens I'll become a vicar.
