  1. that would never happen so i dont know why u said that

and second of all.. the newcastle players were so low on confidence and belief so it is not given

and when i say effort i mean the kind of effort milner puts in week in week out

I never said that effort or belief was a given, I said that EXPECTING effort and belief was a given.

You missed my point about KK coming in, I was trying to help you see that effort and belief are not enough on their own. If you're struggling to imagine that how about if our current poor form continues for the whole of next season and we finish 15th despite trying hard and believing? Is that acceptable?

  2. I agree with you but what has that got to do with what you would find an acceptable achievement for next season?

because theres no point in saying what place and how far in the cup.

as long as the villa boys go into every game thinking they can win

as long as the villa boys go into every competition thinking they can win it

as long as the villa boys go in and put in 110% every game

    then im happy

What if MON is taken ill and Kevin Keegan comes in and we lose every single game despite believing we can win and putting in 110%? Expecting effort and belief is a given. These people are professional athletes.

  3. 1st in league and win all the cups..

ok it may not be realistic but villa go into every game for a win, we enter the league to win at the start of the season and we enter the cups thinking we can win it.. theres no point entering it if youve given up on it already imo

So that's the only thing that is acceptable for you then (as this thread is asking)? If we don't win every match then you would be unhappy?

  4. I can't wait to see Machida fight again but I'm more interested in watching the battle of the Matts. I really hope Serra knocks his block head right off that red neck.

Anyway even more exciting is that Josh Barnett is finally going to fight Fedor! Hoo-ray!

  5. Barry everyday of week.

Petrov is flavour of the month but Barry is the better footballer.

Stan has certainly benefitted from younger members conforming to a viewpoint that is fashionable.

Barry has certainly benefitted from older members conforming to a viewpoint that is traditional but out of date.

  6. Always stand unless so horribly drunk I would be unlikely to miss the wall let alone hit the bowl but I usually just find a bush. Probably about 3-4% sitting. Does it count as a sitter if you're dumping as well?

  7. Petrov makes more tackles and commits far less fouls. Barry's passing doesn't make up for the inability to tackle effectively and lack of forward runs. On his day against the right opponent he looks world class but apart from that I'd have Petrov no questions asked.

  8. Question to you sitters. Have any of you experienced a German toilet, i.e: one that uses "the shelf"?

They have those at Centre Parcs. Those of us sitters who use the 'leaning' technique are unaffected by it as the wiping takes place level with the top of the bowl.

  9. I am absolutely amazed that people remain seated. Surely the average bloke's arse fills most of the hole in the seat? I can imagine women remaining seated, as they're used to it after having a pee, but blokes? All sitters are therefore closet homosexuals....

Can you not shift your own bodyweight to remain balanced on one cheek?

PS - There's not many things gayer than standing in a toilet cubicle bearing your arse.

  10. The melted spiv wins this by so far its unbelievable. Benitez is a sly rocket polisher but he's got to up his game if he's going to compete with scrotal face. I'm not sure why Wenger is an option, SAF maybe but not Wenger. Wenger is a lying frog but in terms of tosserishness he is Yeovil and that dirty cockney crook is United.

  11. Platt is debatable, Yorke doesn't even come close.

Both were better in my view.

Alongside McGrath, Platt and Yorke would both easily be classed as amongst our greatest ever modern day players. On their day they were both world class, hence their trophy filled careers. The fact that Platt is now a Villa-hating, bulbous-eyed salad dodger and that Yorke turned into a badge-kissing Judas doesn't alter the fact that they were both amazing players for Villa. Barry has been a great servant for 10 years, but is in no way as good a player as either of those, not by a huge distance.

    I agree with risso.

  12. And that's also why you never see any steel and muscle in the England midfield when it's called for. It's a totally different game in the internationals facing shit opposition. What you want is a Mascherano/Keane/Vieira and Petrov does this for us. And that's something Gareth Barry simply isn't capable of.

I agree. And when he was given a free role for Bulgaria against Ireland he excelled. He is sweet in the tackle. Sometimes plays silly toe-poke passes to players that work that not many players would even think of. Barry has become confused in his role at Villa for me and often we have two holding midfielders and no one linking up with the forwards. How often have you groaned recently when we play it back and forth between backs and midfield in our own half because Barry won't push forward.

This. I think the problem lies in Barry's inability to beat a player with the ball at his feet, be that with pace or skill. I don't think he wants to push on, get dispossessed and look silly.

  13. Bloody hell, I was getting worried then. It was saying "Now Playing" and I couldn't hear shit then I realised I needed to allow the active X control thing and I wish I hadn't. They put that outside shops? The bastards! That is a frigging horrible noise, only nails on a chalk board could top that.

  14. Manchester City have announced the sale of Sean Wright Phillips today

    To Madonna

I say old bean, I think we've seen this somewhere before! (by me) about 6 weeks ago

dear god can all this I say old bean, I think we've seen this somewhere before! stuff stop, doing my head in now.

Stop doing stuff that's I say old bean, I think we've seen this somewhere before! and it'll stop. I'd rather we had the I say old bean, I think we've seen this somewhere before! police so peeople take a bit of notice whether or not they're just repeating the same jokes than reading what is just copying and pasting of stuff over and over.

  15. obviously fans want to win as much if not more than the players. the fans boo out of frustration and becasue we are so passionate about our team. yet we get criticised in the press for it.

IMO booing does nothing positive for anyone. Its embarrassing that our fans booed. I think we got off lightly, if I controlled any section of the media I would crucify any booing fans. Arsenal fans would never hear the end of it.
