I would be suprised if there are any signings barring barkley until after euros. Always tough signing players when the tournament is on

Think the same applies for a lot of clubs. Expect there may be a rush to complete signings next week as next weekend I'd imagine teams will start flying over to Germany for the Euros and I doubt players will be allowed to leave camp for medicals etc so expect the transfer market to be quiet when that starts.

Also keep reading about June 30th being a FFP deadline, sure Villa and quite a few other clubs are close to the limit and will wait for July. Starting to think the media jumped the gun on Barkley because it was reported Villa were close to signing him well over a week ago and its gone radio silent. Unless he is costing Villa more then they thought.

I’m hoping he’s one of the 1st out in the summer, would still get a decent fee for him

Next season is probably going to be the only chance Matty Cash has at playing Champions League football. His not going to give that up easily so I don't see him leaving at all. Even as a squad player, there is going to be injuries and he will get his fair share of games for us next season.

  3. I would guess there is interest in him but that's as far as it goes. Chelsea need to sell players before the end of June whilst we probably can't spend anything in June. If his still there in July then I don't think Chelsea would be in a rush to sell him and I wouldn't be surprised if he runs his contract down and leaves on a free next year where he can pick his next club rather relying on Chelsea to agree a fee with somebody.

Only way this happens is if Duran is going the other way in some sort of clever FFP deal IMO.

Probably, i think they are different types of players tbh, some similarities, but different players imo, so i think they could defo play together.

Long term can see Rogers playing the same role he did against Arsenal and Man City as a number 10 with Watkins.

Would love to see Ramsey and Rogers in the same team.

    No updates?

Might have already been mentioned but listened to the FTLOPM podcast yesterday who had somebody from a Luton fan channel on and he said that Barkley has a 5-7 million release clause and it's not a free transfer. Maybe this is being negotiated

  6. Trying to remember the last time Villa played and I couldn't care less what the result was. Last season we were chasing Europe, season before we played Man City so was hoping we could spoil the party, 2021 was the first game back with 10k fans in so wanted us to win and 2020 we had to stay up on the last day.

Hope Watkins scores his 20th league goal but that's about it really. Expect Olise/Eze/Mateta to make it an uncomfortable afternoon for us and beat us.

  7. There is only going to be so long Duran is going to be happy playing behind Watkins. Same problem Spurs had, when Kane was fit he plays every game and that's the case with Watkins.

Duran is getting to the stage where he needs to be playing week in week out so I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves this summer. I wouldn't have thought Chelsea is the right club for him to go but if the club can negotiate a good fee for him from any club which can be reinvested into getting a striker Emery trusts to cover Watkins and play alongside him then I wouldn't complain.

  8. Ange Postecoglou has made Spurs a much more enjoyable watch compared to the previous years. Media went overboard with him after the first ten games, always thought their style of play wasn't sustainable over 38 games and seasons are a marathon not a sprint.

Second seasons for managers can be potentially difficult for managers as teams learn how you play. Be interesting to see what happens if he hits a bad spell next season.

amazing that Spurs have beaten Man City the last 4 times at home, without Man City scoring a single goal, what the heck is with that!?!?

Just had a quick look at the fixtures as beforehand this is something I was concerned about up until a few weeks ago.

Spurs 2-0 Man City Feb 2020  - Man City had pretty much lost the league by this point. Liverpool were miles clear (I think) at the top before COVID break
Spurs 2-0 Man City Nov 2020 - Result was in the first half of the season, Man City tend to be slow starters to the season
Spurs 1-0 Man City Aug 2021 - Same as above
Spurs 1-0 Man City Feb 2023 - Harry Kane scores the winner here and he no longer plays for the club.

None of these wins happened during the run-in when Man City turn into machines and win the league. Also these were against Mourinho/Conte type football whereas Spurs are just more open under Ange. Regardless of the Arsenal stuff, Man City should win against a side that struggles to keep clean sheets and tries to play attacking football.

That midfield of Luiz and McGinn since his return is not working not sure why a change hasn't been made teams calf through there to easy. Tim should have come in next Luiz and push McGinn up more attacking pack it up a bit considering the light numbers available. Very simple adjustment.

Seems obvious to me Emery doesn't trust Tim. Be surprised if his still here next season.

  11. Hopefully we get the job done ourselves on Monday to make Spurs game irrelevant to us but hopefully Arsenal win today. Would feel more comfortable knowing Man City HAD to win the game rather than having the fall back option of a home game against West Ham on Sunday.

I suppose Man City would ideally like to rotate players against West Ham ready for a cup final against Man Utd. Monday cannot come quick enough for me

  12. Fair play to the people optimistic about Villa turning this round. Personally think Olympiacos will score early like Lille did and kill this tie off. Hope we can at least make the stadium nervous and make them earn it but I'm watching with low expectations.

Would swear Crystal Palace with the 15th best home record in the league were Real Madrid with some of the responses. If we have to worry about going to Palace then can imagine the fear when actual big boys Bayern or PSG come come to town

How much of that is under Hodgson and without Eze and Olise who they are have been without for large periods of the season? Much better side with those fit and their new manager as I’m sure they will show tonight.

Can we please not panic on Saturday night if spurs beat Burnley?

    Thank you.

Whilst people can make a case for Burnley getting something because of the need to stay up, I’m sure most people including myself see Spurs winning that game so there shouldn’t really be any panic.

I will only start panicking if Spurs get something against Man City but even then we can get it sorted ourselves the night before, but this is Villa. Villa never do it the easy way.

We best Man City and arsenal at villa park

We were underdogs in those games. Man Utd and Chelsea x2 we were seen as favourites whilst Spurs was 50/50. Could probably add Olympiakos to that list too. Not handled those games well.

  16. Personally think the Spurs v Man City is going to be the important one. Expect Spurs to beat Burnley comfortably whilst I don’t think Villa will beat Liverpool. Villa have not handled the big pressure games at Villa Park well this season and watching them yesterday the players look knackered and there just isn’t any rotation possible and now pretty much the same squad go to Greece whilst Liverpool have a full weeks rest.

If we have to beat Palace on the last day then I won’t be feeling confident at all.

Can someone help me with amounts of injury time. It literally feels like you can roll a dice to come up with the amount of minutes. Why was there 3 at the end of that first half? In the premier league it would have been 6 or 7. Equally the second half in the premier league is 8 or 9. Is there a different criteria for injury time in Europe?

UEFA decided not to use the injury time rules that the Premier League/World Cup used.

  18. Expect the Spurs game to be like the Chelsea/Man Utd game. Hopefully Cole Palmer turns up tonight but I've had a feeling for a while Spurs will win tonight. Every stat going points towards a Chelsea win near enough but what sort of defence are they putting out?

Will watch the first half hour before the Villa game kicks off. Spurs to win 3-2.
