I don't think Luiz is at his peak value if your talking about 30m?

The bloke Newcastle have signed for more money is older has less Brazil caps and no prem experience.

I've seen no reports from Doug himself saying he wants to leave the club should try and do what we did with Grealish and tie him down to a longer deal (4-5 years) with a gentleman's agreement that he can move on if a CL team comes in and meets a set price.

I think he has the potential to be a 50m player in a few years time he's still only 23 with more room for improvement.

Luiz now is more valuable than he will be in the summer

Sell Luiz and bring in Bissouma and we will not be better off.

I'd like to think we have moved on from the typical villa one step forward two steps back routine we have had under previous regimes.

We will because it appears Luiz wants to leave

Selling Luiz whilst at his peak value and replacing him with a better player is great business

Big blow this will be though shows how far back we still are as a transfer pull. Was the best of the 3 we were linked to with him Kamara and Bissouma

Bissouma was the outstanding candidate out of the 3

I think we would regret him going. But sometimes things need changing to really push us in to the next level. If we got £40 million that’s a £25 million profit. Still, I think I’d do all we can to get him to sign a new contract.

Seems an odd point of view when the club bidding for him will definitely be above us in the league

VT take a bow. We're sniffing our noses at a potential bargain of £16m for a 24 year old international player whose club is currently one of the most successful clubs in the world.

I swear we're becoming like the fans we hate XD

These are words that mean nothing in reality.

'International player' means nothing. There are thousands of international footballers who aren't good enough for Villa.

Juventus aren't a great team anymore. They finished 4th last season, and they're 5th this season. In a very average league.

24 year old doesn't mean much when apparently he's getting worse.

You're the type of fan who are always in the wrong with these things. We've signed countless players like Targett, Traore, Barkley etc and people convince themselves that everybody is wrong and they're actually going to be really good, then all the criticism turns out to be true.

There's no way a player who struggles under pressure in Serie A is then coming to the PL and succeeding.

  6. A player who struggles on the ball in serie A is definitely a concern

Can't imagine how bad he would be in a much faster, more physical league

Really want us to sign a midfielder who looks like he's playing at his own pace, but doesn't sound like he's the guy

  7. Gerrard commented on him specifically

"I'm still waiting to find out what Carney's going to do in terms of his future - so there's a lot going on in that No.10 area that we're discussing and analysing at the moment."

Why are Everton happy to get rid of him?

Digne called Benitez out for being too defensive. They had a row, he dropped Digne

    Now he's surplus to requirements

    Everton fans are seething

  9. Will be another excellent signing, he's a lot better than Targett

Used to be good for 8-9 assists a season in the league which is ridiculously good. Only Chelsea and Liverpool have full backs who offer more than that

Not sure I follow. Innocent till proven guilty I agree with of course, but he has been arrested and months after the arrest he has still not had the charges dropped, that doesn’t mean he’s guilty, but it means that the police and the CPS think they have something.

The Police haven't decided he's committed a crime, they've suspected him of a committing a crime

Deciding he's committed the crime would mean he is charged

This is where I am. Arse pinch? Something more serious? It’s all irrelevant to me atm. He did something that the police decided was a crime and he has not yet been cleared.

Suspected was a crime. Huge difference.

I'll be unbelievably excited if we sign him, just as I am with Coutinho.

I think Guimaraes or Caqueret from Lyon would be better for us across the next four years than Bissouma.

Kamara would be brilliant but, seeing as Ramsey has come up, I have a feeling he's going to be going somewhere and earning over £250k a week. Utd or Newcastle would be my bet.

Actually, former Newcastle player Mikel Merino would also be a good pick-up I think.

Bissouma has had a decent couple of seasons and now everyone wants to chuck £50m at Brighton. Going rate I suppose, but they will replace him for under £20m I think. They possibly already have with Mwepu or Moder. Not my money, but I'd like the squad to be strong and spending that much on him will mean we can't spend as much elsewhere.

Similar to buying from Brentford, got to be careful buying from a side that have such set systems like Brighton.

Once again, if we buy him, I'll be very very excited, because he will fill a role we've been looking to sort out for a while.

Issue with these players is how they'd cope with the premier league.

Caqueret is tiny and there's a good chance he gets overwhelmed.

Mikel Merino was the same, a lot of his stats fell off a cliff at Newcastle because he was getting dealt with physically.

Bissouma is proven in the premier league, we know he can dominate games at this level.

Damn them footballers with wives, sisters and daughters

Yes, footballers are well known for their respectful attitudes towards women because they have female relatives.....

He’s a quality player and would no doubt improve our team, but given the divide in opinion here regarding  the allegations, I wonder how the dressing room he would be joining see it? Wether he’s done something wrong or not could this hanging over him have a negative impact on squad harmony?

It's a football dressing room, not the womens aid office

Bit of an overhaul needed though if SG comes in - if - he sticks with 4-3-3 as I understand he has at all times. Target's gonna go, Ings or Watkins are going to be pissed off. Doesn't feel like we are bringing someone in to get the best from the players we have - feels more like we're in a midst of a transitional season, again. Thought those days were over.

Our squad is built for 4-3-3

After losing 3 league games in a row Spurs went on to win 5-1 in Europe on Thursday evening. They should have lots of confidence so the sensible thing to do was make 8 changes to the side. Well done Nuno

They're not playing NS Mura today

And they were struggling until they made 4 subs that night
