  1. He was obviously playing in a slightly different position yesterday, a central attacking midfielder rather than as a wide forward which is where he usually plays.

They sat back and narrowed the space and Andi had no answer to that. His movement is usually excellent but that is running into gaps, clearly his game intelligence is not at the same level. He wasn't able to find the pockets of room in the central areas in the way a Silva type player does.

Without any sarcasm intended, thank you for clarifying where he was playing; I'm generally a fan of Weimann (Wisemann if you're Niall Quinn) but all I saw him do on Sunday was wander around aimlessly and struggle to get involved. Whether this is down to him playing in an unfamiliar position or not, I do not know, but he was completely ineffective. He either needs to be playing wider on the right, as he was towards the end of last season, where as you say he can utilise the space, or not at all.

  2. Warnock pulling the strings in midfield

What an utter atrocity we have as manager

As much as dislike Warnock and McLeish, he's most experienced midfield option. It's too big of a game to start Gardner. I hope Bannan stays on the bench.

I saw it as in ideal opportunity to start Gardner in the centre and let him try and impose himself at the top level. Dreading this now.

  3. Many may well disagree buy i'd go for Chris Herd.

I get the Ireland shouts but for me he could still do more, I expected him to chip in with more goals and we're yet to see the player that was so liked by many City fans. Ireland will always be contested against what we know him to be able to do and what we consider as good performances from him in our current plight.

For me, Chris Herd came into the team, anyone saying they weren't apprehensive is lying. I don't think he's ever really let us down, he puts in the tackles and he's matured a lot as a player to the level where I feel he is missed in our line-up. He deserves to be discussed imo.

I second this. He's added some much needed bite to the midfield and has easily been our most consistent performer this season.

  4. I'd like to see him playing behind Weimann on Tuesday as there were a few bright moments between the two of them yesterday, bring Gardner into midfield in his place with the instruction of getting into the box to back up the wee men. I also think Carruthers is worth a shout ahead of Albrighton, who just pisses me off more and more with every passing game.

  5. His movement on the forward line created chances, half chances but chances none the less. Would have loved to have seen him come on for Ireland to play alongside a clearly, and understandably, off the pace Gabby.

  6. Something I'd really like to see against Burnley is Bannan in the Petrov role. Similar to the way the Spanish use small skillful deep lying midfielders I could really see Bannan as a little terrier yapping at the heels one second and the next spraying passes around. He'd need Reo Coker alongside him though.

  7. Well what a frustrating transfer window thus far :( I know, i know we should all be well used to it by now but this one has been particularly frustrating with the main rumours appearing to indicate:

    OUT LATEST

Sidwell to Fulham/West Ham? - All seems to have gone quiet on that front!

Milner to City? - Appears to be heading for deadline day!

Shorey to Forest? - All quiet here once again!

Heskey to Sunderland? - To soon to tell if true or not!

Luke Young to Liverpool - Actually seems highly likely!

    INS LATEST

McGeady from Celtic? - Repeated link almost daily but still nothing

Keane from Spuds? - Ditto McGeady!

Huntelaar from Milan? - Apparant press fabrication?

Flamini - Again seems to be press fabrication?

Stephen Ireland - Appears dead in the water/linked to Milner

Many other loose links which are obviously just newspaper fabrications (mostly the Mirror  ) or just incorrect.

So all in all nothing of real excitement other than arguably the Keane & Huntelaar links which have gone very quiet. Have to say it's rather like grating your finger nails off with a cheese grater & i find it quite amazing how many different ways there are of telling the same story regarding the Milner situation! It has to be about 200 versions i have read since the window began all basically saying we want 30m & City don't want to pay that!! Incredible! & very tedious lol!

As far as Ireland goes, in the speculation thread MM says we're in pole and its happening outside of the Milner deal.

  8. Mysteryman is the anything happening behind the scenes re transfer targets you know of? We're bored witless! :(

Been away for a week had text about the Luke Young situation and not sure if it's been on here Sidwell is injured hence holding up the move to Fulham .

Re Milner it's now starting to come out and can I reiterate Villa did not do not want to sell him but he wanted to go his head has been turned by the money and only Man City are in the race . Nothing different from 6 weeks ago !

I have nothing more to add other than I expect us to sign both Ireland and Keane but not before August .

    Thanks dude.

  9. Wasnt MM telling us we were in for Cole in January? Hmmm, the plot thickens...

Villa have enquired about Cole but that was as far as it got and that was over 4 weeks ago unless things have changed

I love how you just pop up whenever we need something clearing up Mysteryman, whilst you're about you heard anything about anything that might brighten up our day?

  10. According to Tribal Football, Milner is waiting until the 25th to decide his future.

So another two weeks of this yet :(

Tribal football is basically where anyone can make stuff up isn't it?

I read this is a couple of other places to, although I can't remember what they were to see if they were any more credible. Evidently all that time sat alone in his room (which is what we're led to believe the England team were forced to do over in SA) would have been enough time to think.

Like I've said all along, 20 plus Ireland please.

  11. Ok, lets speculate, talk in the papers today that Nigel De Jong may be forced out by the signing of Yaya Toure at City. I don't know if he'd come to us but he is exactly the sort of player we need in the middle of the park. I've come to accept Milners off so if this guy could be part of the deal that would be immense. Probably cost 15 million or so. Your thoughts...
