There is nothing wrong with not wanting Gerrard as manager nor thinking he will be a failure. As you say, that shows you care. It is the people that are posting that they hope we lose games and that they hope he fails because they don't like Gerrard are the ones that are hard to fathom

Oh I agree pal as I said above as that is pretty extreme to want him to fail just because you dislike him. Same goes for any sports team you support. Hornets are my NBA team but I really dislike LeBron James. If they signed him would I want him to flop and be detrimental to the success of the team? Of course not. You can not like the guy and still hope he does well because it means your team is doing well.

There was a post from someone saying they wanted us to lose the next 5 games just so Gerrard would be sacked as soon as possible. There are plenty in here that are clearly willing to throw away their support of the club due to  a childish dislike of Gerrard.

Oh ok I didn't see those posts but yes I agree that is extreme just because they dislike the dude. I dislike him but as I said I want him to win here because it means we are.

  3. I don't see how saying you don't 100% agree with or like the hire means you don't support the team. That shows we care about the team because we are concerned with the hire. For those in the unenthusiastic about this hire camp as I am just want the best for Villa, have no personal vendetta against Gerrard, and I am quite sure we all want him to prove us wrong. I want him to succeed because it means we are succeeding.

It just does my head in when somebody doesn't agree or back every single thing a club does, it automatically means we don't support the club. That's just ridiculous.

Again I sincerely hope he does prove a lot of people wrong and I support him in doing so, but will have my reservations until that happens.

  4. I am resigning myself to the fact that Gerrard is more than likely going to be the new man in charge. I am not enthused about the prospect at all as I have said more than once in this thread. I don't cliam to be psychic or have a great football mind, but I just don't think he will work out well here just a gut feeling. Obviously I want him to because I love Villa and we need a new direction, just didn't think it would be him.

I just simply don't like the dude, think he is a prick, and I still haven't really read or heard anything that makes me think he will be great here. But also yes I know that maybe our players need a kick up their asses and someone who will get in their faces; Gerrard deffo seems like he would have no problems doing that. I don't really dwell on the fact that he might see us a stepping stone to better things(i.e. Liverpool) but I do think that will be true to a certain extent sure.

Regardless of all these things he will have my support and of course I hope I am wrong if he is the man going forward. Think there are better fits for us out there, but I obviously don't make those kinds of decisions. Just have to keep the faith in those in charge and that means Gerrard if he does get the nod.

  5. For this year, I am just going to do way more online shopping than I normally do. Have already took care of several people in my family this way by getting them gift cards as I think that is just easier because really don't know what they want and/or need. Will put up the tree here in a couple weeks, and am looking forward to having some family over. Not really the gifts for me, more just spending time with those people who are most important to me.

Outside of Villa fans many of whom seem to be biased by their hatred of anything connected with Liverpool, Gerrard seems to be very highly rated as a manger. I think their might be an element of people lumping him in with the likes of Arteta, Solskjær and so on, just because like them he used to be a famous footballer at a big club.

    No I just think he's a prick

  7. I saw it coming but really didn't want it to happen quite yet because of what Dean has done for this club. Its like Grealish in that no one is bigger than the club. So, just appreciate for what have you done for the club Dean and we move on. Hopefully, they have a good candidate in mind who can get us out of this funk.
