Typical **** villa, yet another statement game, yet another piss poor performance.

I really wish people would stop saying this. He hasn’t played for Belgium for ages !
I would sooner see Lenglat and Torres as a back 2 then seeing Donk there !
Fair enough too, but would you rather have donk or chambers on the bench to cover the next cb injury?

Well we could always play Kamara as a CB if needs be, oh wait...
Good thing we have another international player who could fill in at cb for a few games on the books, oh....

6th would not be a 'massive failure', it would be an incremental improvement on last season and automatically qualify us for a better European competition.
It might be a slight disappointment compared to where we are now, but it would be our best season since 2010. That's not a 'massive failure'.
Agree to disagree I guess, honestly this team has shown they are capable of challenging for the title ( see prior to said Sheffield game). To be capable of that and produce what we have seen over the last few months is disappointing. I can acknowledge 6th is an improvement on last year and that's a good thing, but in the context of the season and what could have been its a failure.
Granted injuries have not helped at all, but seasons where 3 of the '7 teams that are better that us' have stuttered are not going to be all that common, and we really need to exploit the opportunity to its fullest

If someone had said before the start of the season… with 14 games to go, Villa will be 5 points ahead of Man Utd and 1 point behind 4th place…. I’d have taken it.
True, but at the start of the season, we weren't in a position to go top by beating the bottom team either. Expectations change over a season, while 6th would have been acceptable then, its a massive failure now considering everything that has happened since.

I'm not sure that's possible. It's more than the diameter of the planet.
I'm guessing the linked calculator measures the distance across the surface of the planet rather than cutting through the middle

Emi doesnt get sold. Under any circumstances. Gauci has been playing league 1/2 level football. So has Sinisalo who is also an international.
Gauci has big potential but will still have loads to learn.
Thats an incredibly generous view of the a league. The a league is a garbage league even by regional standards. A league is weaker than the j league, k league, Saudi league (before the big money) and even arguably the Chinese league.
There is no way Gauci is ready to be a PL starter, he hasn't even been able to push Mat Ryan (from AZ Alkmaar) out of the number 1 spot in the national team.
(I say this even with my Adelaide fan tinted glasses on)
I'm thrilled he's joining Villa but he's not replacing emi any time soon

I suspect the club has put out invitations for tender for the new stand and the quotes they are getting back mean the project no longer stacks up financially.
For all we know the owners made the final call and Heck has been the guy who has to break the news.
And that's fine, but grow a spine and tell the fans that, instead of some bs about growing to quickly

just looking at his stats, i know he is raw and a bit.....erratic, but he has 4 goals and 1 assist in 563 minutes.
so a goal every 140 minutes, or 1 goal in every equivalent 1.6 games.
Or, a goal contribution every 113 mins, or 1 goal contribution in every equivalent 1.3 games.
Will be interesting to see how he develops, i do wonder if he needs a loan though, to get games week in, week out, to help develop/improve.
on a lighter note, he has 5 yellows in 563 mins, or a yellow contribution every 1.3 games........
This is why I love him as a player, something will happen when he is on the pitch. It might be a goal...he might just deck a defender...but something always happens

I don't think we have ever deserved 3 points less than we did today.
This team continues to do my head in, apart from manc and arsenal we have been playing poorly for weeks, yet somehow still keep putting points on the board.
The January window can't come soon enough.

Well that was something
VAR and refs were clearly doing everything to make sure we couldn't win, any or all of the (i think) 4 var reviews for penalties i have seen given in other matches. The disallowed goal is just nonsense, how long needs to pass before its another phase of play?
Even so, we didn't play well at all today against a team that came out to just not lose. We really lack that player who can unlock a low block defence.
I'm normally a Cash supporter but so many attacks came to nothing when he had the ball today amd as has been said elsewhere, I don't think Cash, Bailey and Diaby can all be on the right at the same time as they all want to drift wide and cut inside.
A really poor showing, but big picture we will be at worst 3 points off the top come Xmas, which I think is more than any of is realistically expected at the start of the season.

All i can think of when I see this is American West Coast surf or skate brands. Not from the 80s but new ones that are trying to copy the aesthetic without quite nailing it.

Good to see we can still give the forwards who haven't scored for 18 months a chance to find some form

I'm enjoying shithouser Konsa of late, making sure he is putting attackers on the ground every time they challenge him

Lucky escape thanks to some inexplicable refereeing (at both ends).
Need to find ways to create more in these games where teams sit deep.
I do look forward to being able to have ramsey, zanolio and buendia on at the same time to run at these teams when the wide play isn't working

Real vintage villa
Easily winnable game where a result makes a real statement....

Be interesting to see if Ward is given time to sort this out. Seasons basically over now in terms of breaking into the top 4, will have a struggle to be best of the rest.

It is beyond me how we can never beat these.
