Can some kind and knowledgeable individual give a little update on all our youngsters? I haven't seen much about how this last season went for players like Swinkels, Bogarde, Burchall etc. Have they had big injuries? What positions have they been used in? How close do they look to being ready to go on loan or make some cameos for the first team like Iroegbunam did?

Anything would be welcome as I find it difficult to find any info on the youth teams. Not even sure who's playing in the U23s and who's playing in the U18s.

Swinkels had a few injuries and played a lot a LB for un23s due to others taking up CB positions. Not very favorable to him. I think next year will last at academy level if he’s not loaned out this season. As i feel he can physically play men’s football soon.

Bogarde had long injury after Chalton game in the papa Johns. So that’s why it’s gone quiet on him. You saw in photo at end of season training session with first team. He will mostly likely get a loan next year if physically able. He is one of the most exciting talents. Up there with Chuckumeka for me. Royals royce on the ball.

The has been some other major injuries to some others. But overall the players that have stood out is Tommi O’Reiley, Josh Feeney and Barber for main under 23s. We got lot younger guys that will get more of chance next season as 16 years old like Kaden Young. He will be the next one to keep eye on for me.

Ramsey not getting a mention in the previews, was the best player on the pitch the last I watched them play a month or so back, always stands out at an academy level, I wouldn't put it past him to upstage a few the others getting more attention.

Alex Scott of Bristol City is another who's not being mentioned amongst the players to watch, he's looked very good whenever I've seen him, has a natural way of playing that reminds me a little of Grealish, and has also probably done more at first team level than any of the others.

I think both Ramsey and Chukwuemeka should get plenty of game time have both have been regulars in this group coming through the ages, Iroegbunam only recently been called up, but I think he started on his debut, and being give the No.4 shirt is probably a good sign.

Scott has been on my rader ever since he played us in the friendly at start of this season. His idol is Jack so you see how resembles his style

I can’t wait to see these lads play together. They linked up recently for one thier goals in last camp. So hopefully see more of that

It's really shameful clickbait from the Birmingham Mail - using an unrelated Everton transfer to make it look like we are selling Archer for £20m.

The stuff is all shameful clickbait. I can’t tell you how many articles that got wrong. I mean just basic facts like they listed us having one owner on richest list in the prem. They no quality control at all

I see Chukwuemeka and Archer have been given the 8 and 10 shirts so must be integral to the starting XI, which is great news.

Hoping Timmy I also gets to feature a fair bit too.

Archer is little old for this. I thinking you meant Ramsey

Why in 2022 are people acting like its impossible to come back from a bad injury?

The fact he won't be anywhere near the premier league or any real decent league is not just down to his injury.

His injury was near career ending as you can get. This wasn’t a just a normal ACL.

ACL can still be career enders even though it’s becoming less common.

  6. I think our recruitment isn’t based of results in the pl2 league is all i am saying. We would put more effort into picking a stronger side if that was the case. I think the fact we attracting good players still shows that has no major impact. The pathway to first team will always trump everything else. But i do agree that FA youth cup is important competition

Some of it down to injuries, some of it because of losing the better players to the U23s, and other factors, but even allowing for the fact that we know sometimes results will suffer because of putting individual player development before team results, I think there will be some disappointment with how the season has gone, if they're seen to be doing well probably helps with recruitment, last summer we had the FA Youth cup win, but don't really have anything like that this time.

I suppose the success story this time around has come from how well the loans have gone, and players like Iroegbunam making the first team.

We're still improving our academy, it's not something that can be fixed in a couple of seasons, will take time for us to develop the players we need from an early age, and get to a point where instead of one or two stand outs coming up from the U16s, we've got an whole teams worth, we had something close to that with the Youth Cup winning team, but hopefully in a couple of years or so we will start producing more year groups like that, not sure about the U16s, but I think the age groups below that have been doing very well this season, so the signs are promising.

Youth team success isn’t metric that a player being recruited should care about. If you take look at Everton youth team they had great success in the league and nothing of real note came from it.
The loan system and how we develop player to professional level  is all that matters to a player. The fa youth cup is just a tool to showcase yourself for a loan. I hear it’s the most watched by scouts and managers.

He has got the knack hasnt he.a great goalscorer rather than a scorer of great goals.

He has been scoring quality goals recently. What goals have not been great?

Stop gap for something, I think him and young are just bodies for this season

Whether or not we get another body next summer, John Terry esque older player to come in for 2 years (but not be a starter) who knows

I'd offer Hause an extension but on low wages, if he didn't take it I'd let him and Tuanzebe go, find the next konsa (20 to 23) as 3rd choice and then an older head as 4th choice with then the long term plan of bogarde replacing the older head within 1 or 2 seasons and feeney replacing mings within 2 or 3, in 5 years time we'd be looking at bogarde, feeney, konsa plus a.n.other konsa mkII either way I think we need to buy in one more CB

But that's all complete guess work

We have a option to extend for another year with Hause. So that seems like the most likely thing if we don’t find a replacement

I wonder if Dean might come in for Hause, contact is up in the summer so would be cheap and they must have a good relationship.

Norwich couldn't afford them to buy but would be interesting to see if he comes in for a loan for AEG, Trez or Bidace. Or even Archer. He needs to get some goals from somewhere.

I hadn't really considered that Dean might try and take somebody with him, even whilst contemplating that Gerrard may want some of his Rangers players with him here.

Norwich already have two loan signings from prem teams. Both are them are in the first 11 so doubtful he will get any loans from us. I could see hause being signed though

£80-100m is within our means based on revenue, TV money etc I would expect us to keep spending that much

What I mean is we haven't spent the Grealish money this summer trying to go from 11th to 7th, how many years do we have to spend it under the FFP rules? So one summer will it reappear and our spending goes to £180-200m

80m-100m within our means? Nooo that is mostly eaten by wage bill of around 100m a year. I heard it could be more.

We are playing with owner money right now going forward until we get more revenue from commercial or other areas.

The thing is we guessing on when we will use that Grealish money for ffp purposes as I think we getting installments. It all depends on who we still paying off as well from our last couple of seasons of big spending

Sheffield Utd could afford on parachute and Ramsdale money for one...

The reason you just naming one club.

He isn’t worth a fee to them. A fee can get you lot more younger player with resale value. Why would they offer a fee for player nobody else is interested in buying. This move is good for Villa as we don’t have a player wasting on the bench. He earned us premier league status. I think we got our vaule

  14. 1 hour ago, Dale said:

But of a pisser the club can't even sell him. Surely someone would pay £3M? We're a soft touch when it comes to surplus.

Who paying 3m for him? Their is a reason he couldn’t get a loan in prem when clubs were desperate for players on cheap.

The is no clubs with money in champ due to Covid that he would improve. They all lost so much and had no tv money to help.

all the foreign markets are suffering and he most likely would not go aboard.

the so many average players out there that can’t get moves.

  15. I normally browse in these forums and don’t get involved in chats.

I like to say Barry is good enough at his current age. He lacks physical attributes for the mens game. This isn’t something to be concerned about the moment. The England coaches and Villa coaches agree on this. Ipswich will be a good experience even if he doesn’t get game time in next six months. Fighting for place will good for his mentality. Hopefully he does get a chance and makes up for his lack of physical presence. We will see

The really isn’t much else to say on him currently on weather he will make it. I blown away by people comparing him to others more developed then him. Age is just a number and it means nothing under the age 21. Barry has the ability to be a elite player. If he fails then won’t be because of ability.

does he play DC?, if so he's way too short for a DC imo.

transfermarkt has him as primarily a LB?, i can see him as a left back where height isnt such an issue.

He plays at LB in the youth teams. I think we just needed a extra cb for pre season

The worst thing about highlights being on the app rather than YouTube is that there's no obvious "videos" or "match highlights" section on their app, you have to sort of figure out where it is by clicking on a bunch of things. If you want to find highlights of an older game it's pretty much  not going to happen.

It’s seems to be organized well on the website. I have not used the app

  20. Its UEFA ffp that is the problem not the premier league. That is way more strict if not man city that is. Its closer to 30m. So if we want to get to Europe we need to be more sustainable than we are now. Not including covid losses
