Agreed - you have to remember that even last season it is now pretty obvious the good parts of the season were just riding of Grealishs back.
There is a lot of talent in this team, we've been on a journey with them and there is a lot to like. However if we want to break into the upper parts of the league quite a few of them dont have the talent or the mentality to take us there.
Dean always said that players had to meet a specific criteria, I suppose "being nice" was at the forefront.... and now, as a collective we are too nice and a soft touch.

Apparently we've offered 6 million euros for Denis Zakaria. Comes from Rupert Atkinson, Sky Sports Journo in Italy.
Now living in England

You were the guy who made a hole in the Witton end with his dick, when Villa won promotion ( can't remember whether it was the old 3rd to second division or 2nd to 1st)

Yep, it's been bad for a long while now and literally ANY other manager would not have had such an easy ride from the fan base (myself included)
It's telling that many many people still disagree with his dismissal after 5 defeats on the bounce, including a very very alarming collapse against Wolves. It's difficult to see any other manager and/or any other fanbase would allow that.
Steve will definitely not get that level of unwavering support, not from us anyway.
We'll very soon see if he's better than Smith as he's got a decent chunk of the season before he can bring any of his own players in. Let's see if he can get a tune out of Dean's troops that Dean couldn't because we've not just lost 5 on the bounce, we've looked absolutely clueless, worse than awful performances and turning that ship around is no mean feat in itself.
Don't think he will be letting players stroll in at lunchtime because they've been on their PS5's until the wee hours.

Has he gone yet?

....and mine. Are we related? Did she push old sweet wrappers inside a hollow glass dog and shine a torch under it? If she did, it must be her?
Lol, nope ........but Ernie Callaghan was one of her tenants.

I think these types of coaches are very underrated. Losing ROK was one of the nails in the coffin for Smith. Culverhouse was similar for Lambert and there was a chap whose name I can't remember who was the brains behind MON and he struggled everywhere he went without him.
John Robertson?

Is this clown and Danks still at the club?

To be honest I put the blame for this slump in form on both Lange and Smith. They didn't address the overriding issue in midfield in the summer. Think that will ultimately cost Smith his job.

It really is as simple as that, Paul
I have no idea who, or interest in seeking out another manager, I want our current manager, to step up to the plate and demand, yes demand, better from this 11 he chooses.
There is no guarantee any other manager can do better.
And therin lies part of the problem, TRO. He will stick with his favourites, even though they are out of form, and it's this loyalty that will ultimately, in all probability cost him his job.

Although I would like to keep Freddie at the club it is clear that he is not in Smith's thoughts. To get Wes, Conor and Freddie out on loan during the last few days of the window is good work from the people involved. Deadwood hanging around collecting wages is a cancer on a club
We are probably paying 70 to 80% of their wages.

FWIW my biggest concern is a No6. Think we will struggle without a Nakamba upgrade.

Leon Bailey's thread doesn't need negativity too.
Droning on and on and on and on and on and on about the same crap - FFS.
Seriously some of the posters should log out and have a day or two away from here - go enjoy life , have a kick about, a walk in the park. Take the missus out , go have a tug or two.
Sheesh there is a lot of negativity on the forum front the same people posting the same negative message every 2 messages. If you don't have anything new to write just leave it out we heard you the first time.
It'll get better. Leon will start and the sexy football will start with him.
I think many of us are just frustrated with the way pre season has been managed by the club... admittedly teams pulling out due to Covid are not catered for, but eg, giving Traore a game the next day smacks of desperation to me.

I think with Greedlish and one or two others we would have seen a marked improvement on last season. I'm not sure with his loss and the amount of bodies we are/have brought in that Smith will find any continuity with the squad for a couple of months at least. We seemed to have started this season in a mish mash state. I hope not but I think Smith is in for a difficult time over these next few months.
has he built up enough goodwill to get the next few months?

but Dean keeps trying to flog him to other clubs over and over, he only went on loan as we couldn't sell him
Has Smith got a problem with players from France? Guilbert not getting a look in, and we have seen very little of Sanson. Are they the next Bjorn Engels?

Just now, hippo said:
Enlighten me - when is Sanson "coming back" ?
He hasn't paid regular football since the back end of last year. Not played any pre season games - nor was he at the open training session.
Another Guilbert perhaps, maybe Dean isn't keen on our French contingent.

Ah yes, the El Ghazi defence. Doesn't work when you're anonymous in a 2-man midfield most of the game.
And that is our problem.....a 2 man midfield. We were overrun again today, has Smith got a blindspot when it comes to our mids?

This is what we need. Nakamba isn't good enough to be that New, so we absolutely have to sign a bissouma type to sit alongside McGinn. It unlocks his formation for us. Without that player, we're in trouble when Watkins and Ings are both fit.
This.

Maybe i should have said " of the right character", so can you tell me why other teams carve us open at will,.......I still say we have no backbone when things aren't going well.
