  1. Carew was back defending a lot tonight presumbly under orders from MON? he then can't get upfield to support Gabby. I'm not a great fan of Carew but thought tonight he did ok. Liverpool were there for the taking but we seem to lack confidence the longer the game goes on aginst the top sides i.e Man City / Spurs we sat back

Downing has been disappointing for me. What does he add offensively?

  2. A great win, but as always some of you MUST concentrate on the negative

it would be a bit boring if we didn't debate the whole game and individual performances. Anyone who says carew played any part today is deluding themselves. He was rubbish and worst of all lazy. By contrast the other 10 put in a great shift and produced a sterling result. Chelsea played some lovely stuff going forward to to reducee them to a fortunate goal is great stuff. Collins and Dunne were superby. Warnock has a bit of John Gidman about him. he gets forward and looks dangerous with his final ball. I suspect that's why MON plays Cuellar to ensure we always have 3 at the back when Warnock goes forward.

With Downing to come in the next few months, its looking good. Will MON have the balls to spend big in Jan on a striker we definitely need?

  3. only explanation was that they were both shattered.

That can never apply to carew, he just doesn't make any effort to keep up with the play. Doesn't want to get sweaty before he goes off to Legs 11!

Seriously though this happens regularly and I noticed the same thing before, particualry two seasons ago. Carew was lazy today and was the same again today. To be fair to gabby he does put the effort in.

  4. Great performance

Carew was poor again today. He just doesn't seem to put the effort in. Fine, he wins a few balls in the air but is rarely a goal threat. Not sure why he got such a round of applause. In the second half Young and then Warnock were breaking there necks sprinting down the wing with the ball and he just ambles forward. He didn't offer himself on either occasion. I think he beleives in he hype and the continual song we sing about him. By contrast Ash was average today but he never stops chasing back. Gabby was the same

Heskey quite rightly gets stick, but carew should get just as much

  5. Thatcher is wrong derided in my view. The country was in turmoil when she came to power in 79 and was heading for total breakdown. The unions were partially to blame for this wth restrictive and crazy working practices.

  6. Work in the property industry. I can tell you there will be many forced sellers out there in 12 months or so. Therefore, delay any house purchase for a few months as prices will be lower by the end of the year.

I was due to exchange contracts on our house sale last week, and the day before the guy at the bottom of the chain wanted £15k off. Tosser! Deal fell through and we're back to square one. We were going to rent for 12 months.

    Such is life

  7. She added that, unlike the 1990s crash, more people were on fixed-rate than variable-rate mortgage deals and this helped the stability of the market.

any about 1.5m fixed rates will finish this year and have to move onto higher rates. therefore, there will be a lot of pain for many......including me!

  8. Definite no for me. The UEFA cup is now totally the poor relation to the Champs League, and the poor crowds (up until the semis) show fans apathy. My knowledge of euro footy is pretty good but I've never heard of some of the teams playing in it i.e Newcastle's opponents last week.
