The comments that we should be disregarding players from Championship level are pretty laughable...you make a list of players as long as your arm who've come up through lower leagues and been successfull. The key is being able to spot who can make the step up and who can't. I would have thought that someone like DS who's been a lower league manager should be better qualified than most to spot the obvious candidates, especially if he's managed them before.

People need to wake up to the fact that we either aren't willing to, or aren't capable of attracting the best of domestic/foreign talent that are already playing at the best clubs. Getting someone like Lange is evidence of the model we're trying to follow (Leicester, Southampton, Dortmund(!?)). All clubs that sign players that fit an age and ability profile who we then sell to the top teams for more money. I'm fine with that model.

Not if he turns out to be fantastic for us and doubles or triples in price within a season or two.

Remember that this is our model. It might not be the sexy statement signing we all want, but might turn out to be an excellent piece of business all around.

if thats our model we wont have big budget

  3. personaly idont want him smacks of desperation

Its not related. I couldn't care less what they bid for Grealish. In fact I hope they keep low balling. We'll never accept them and laugh them off.

I was only asking because 6m is not pocket money. I honestly dont know much about Swift but why say 6m is an insult? Is every player 20m at least now?

Fair enough. But, is it Smith attracting the players or is Lange/Purslow trying to attract the players?

Now, if you're saying that playing for Smith is not an attractive proposition for players of a higher quality than what we have, that opens up a whole new can of worms and the owners may have to be ruthless and bring in a bigger name to attract such players.

yes thats what i meant i wish he could

Smith isn't in charge of the money, so even if he did complain about prices, this logic would make no sense, as it's up to the board whether or not to pay certain fees, for certain players.

well having read that we dont want get into bidding wars  over watkins sometimes you ve got to compete by increasing bid as long as its not obscene amount
