His attitude is horrible...  Some scenes from All Or Nothing which show his behavior.  Basically goes into Jose's office to give him a "play me or sell me" mandate.  Jose says he gave him an opportunity when he trained well and he was poor, so he played another who performed better in games after that.  Told him there are no guarantees he'll play week in and week out in his team and he needs to earn his spot.  Rose throws this toys out of the pram and runs to complain to Levy.  Levy makes inquiries to move him on and Rose thinks he's better than the clubs interested in him...  Exactly the type of behavior we don't want in the squad.

Newcastle philosophy of not buying players over 26. 😂😂

Callum Wilson and Jeff hendrick. Danny rose ended up there on loan too.

I am glad Jack didn’t play. We don’t to waste his talent of such a sh*tty competition. It will also drive Jack to do his utmost for Villa to show what England is missing.

I don't doubt jack's drive for villa will always be good wether it's to show England or not. The question is, will he have his head turned if he keeps getting overlooked by England? That's the big worry for me. He clearly wants to play for England, alot.

How is 80 minutes on Thursday not getting a look in? He even looked like he was playing with a knock. Yes it’s great to see Jack playing for England and we got to do that the other day. He maybe should have featured today but the fact he didn’t is good for Villa and for Jack if he is really is carrying a knock.

Jack isn't stupid. He will see himself putting a MOTM performance in and then the next game, dropped to the bench and not getting on. He will look at the players that started in mount and rashford. He will realise he is clearly behind them. Then, the players to come in. Sterling, greenwood, foden, Sancho. All 'top 6' players and all will be considered ahead of him by the manager. (I use that term loosely). I'd be amazed if he's in the next squad if they are all fit. Amazed.

Is that what we want? Selfishly, yes of course it is. Save him for villa. But is that what jack would want? Absolutely not. And that's the key bit for me. Would jack wanted to have played tonight? I'd put my life on it he would've. So, that's what I want for him!

Bet Smith was happy Jack wasn’t playing.

I think it's more to do with what jack wants. He wants to play for England. If jack is playing for villa and getting regular minutes for England then happy days. If jack is playing for villa and not getting a look in and sees the players ahead of him all at a 'top 6' side then his head May be turned.

To suggest that villa fans have forgotten about jack in a villa shirt is a pretty outrageous claim. I think we just want what jack wants.

I must be missing something here:

Its 15 quid to watch a game that you could only normally watch (legally) by paying 30-40quid for (i.e. by going to the game). So its not like anyone is going to more out of pocket than they normally would be for watching it.

And Sky BT and the likes all pay god knows how much for rights to package of games they get.  They ain't gonna do that if fans can then watch any game they want for a fiver a pop.

I doubt the clubs see this as a revenue builder anyway. Its more a case of fighting back against the government who wont let them have fans in yet at same time expect them to show all their games for free.

By paying 30-40 quid though, you get the atmosphere and experience. It's, obviously, a completely different thing. It's the morality of charging a struggling economy an excessive amount of money for one game, when you can buy passes etc for a third of the price.

You don't think sky and BT make an obscene amount of money from their TV rights? Of course they do, to then make us pay £15 if we want to watch the team we love for 1 game is obscene.

Like others have said to watch villa for the next 3 games, it'll cost you £45 on top of any other subscription. To watch Everton's next 3 games, it'll cost you nothing on top of your subscription. It's exploitation.

If you see nothing wrong, then I really struggle. I hope NO ONE pays £15 for a single game of football on the telly. NO ONE. and that idea is binned forever. Money grabbing bastards.

  6. £15 is an absolute joke. To view on a sky sports channel too. Sky making money from this. **** THEM. They demand enough in subscription fees. Bunch of **** arseholes. Wish we could shut sky down. If EVERYONE stopped paying for it. It's the only way. Scumbags.

Stupid question, but is BMH open to visitors?

I remember a couple of years ago, I was going to play golf at the belfry. Me and my dad were very early so went to bodymoor just to have a look. We parked up by the gate and just had a look what we could see. The old man has been inside so was telling me bits and bobs about it when a jobsworth security guard came out to tell us to leave. So, in answer to your question, I very much doubt they would allow you to visit.

You may think I’m bonkers but there is something in the air, We survived by the skin of our teeth last year and if you look back into our recent history every time we have done this the season after has delivered well beyond expectation. I honestly don’t know what that expectation will be but I smell a top six and dare I say a trophy that will let older Villans complete the set

I stopped reading here as I couldn't agree more with this. 😂

  9. I've just done that BBC select the XI to face Wales tonight and all I could think when selecting was 'id rather konsa', 'id rather konsa' when going through the list of defenders.

I do have to say that I've seen several reviews of "who won" the transfer window and we were mentioned a fair bit (ESPN FC guys, and NBC sports over here)

Watching the sky sports deadline day with the 2 redknapps (ugh) and they were asked this question. Jamie said Everton and was talking about them and the signings they've made when Harry shouted over him 'villa'. I usually think he talks aloaf of old bollocks but I though he spoke really well of us and our dealings.

Came here to say both of these and beaten to the punch! The long diagonal with a drifting striker running the channels is certainly a key tactic of the Ranieri/Shakespeare title winning Leicester team.

I believe the ball over the top behind the space vacated by the fullback was the exact strategy Watford executed when Shakespeare was number 2 as well.

At first I wasn't so sure if it would be a too many cooks situation with 3 number 2's but so far it seems to be working well; Shakespeare for general playstyle/tactics, Cutler for specific training ground drills and Terry for maybe general motivation, 1 on 1 coaching with players?

Speaking of Terry did anyone see him at VP last night, no reason to think he wasn't just don't remember the camera panning to him at all?

Has Richard O'Kelly taken over Smith's role as the man that sets up the cones?

    Very recognizable free agents:

    - Clyne (29)

    - Sturridge (31)

    - Welbeck (29)

    - Wilshere (28)

    - Pato (31)

    - Ben Arfa (33)

    - Borini (29)

    - Mandukic (34)

    - Valencia (35)

    - Kagawa (31)

    - Defour (32)

    -  Sanogo (27)

Sanogo? Is that yaya sanogo who has done nothing of note at any level?

Yes you ar right.....but how many managers have the same things been said and it hasn't worked out......some of us have a longer list of examples to consider.

The hierarchy do need to be applauded, you are quite right....but they also have the ability to see, all the behind the scenes stuff we are not privvy too.

In the main, we only have results to go by, so I am more than happy to say, they seen a bit more than some of us, inc me.

Very true. But despite this comment, I also remember a few people commenting on the board and how they weren't trusted. How purslow can't be trusted and he is using the club as his plaything or something similar.

We had no reason not to trust them. None. Let's hope we live and learn though.

Like you said a few posts back, let's hope when we suffer defeat that we look at it more objectively and not start throwing disgusting accusations towards our board and asking for the managers head.

    No not at all.

It was the manner of the defeats that bugged me.

I can accept losing games. But don't go out with a whimper. Players didn't turn up at times last season and it's so frustrating as a fan.

Mentality seem to have completely changed. But not for the B team. Seeing them against Stoke gave me horrific flashbacks from what we used to be. And that may suggest it had nothing to do with Dean. Some of our players may just be really weak mentally and it scares me.

Liverpool lost 7-2. 7-2. They completely gave up and lost with a whimper. But in the post about it you said 'allison, mane and Henderson loss didn't help them'.

Agreed though, and like a select few on here suggested, it was the players and not the manager who was our downfall. The players weren't good enough.

Takes a big man to admit theyve changed their tune though and changed their thoughts, so will commend you on that.

    • Heaton was a big miss
    • McGinn was in and out and his formed dropped before his injury....but granted a fully functioning McGinn was a big miss
    • Wesley had his critics, before his injury so it would be amiss to claim he was a big miss, unless you mean his general play as opposed to his goals.

Look, in light of the changes in personnel and fortunes, we are all wiser....it would equally be folly to suggest last season was ok, because it wasn't.

However, we can all see clearer now, how the first season is so,so difficult and the fact we got over line can never be praise enough....it was crucial.

I think many of us, not just Villalad had our doubting moments and feelings of frustration that got the better of us.....Bravo to those that didn't.

Its not a competition to see who was right and who was wrong, everyone has their opinions and entitled to them, thats the essence of a forum.....but I think we can all relax a bit to know the ship is back on course and the storm has passed.

Not my intention at all. Trying to point out the hypocritical nature of some of the views from last season. It's easy in hindsight definitely, but I thought it was quite clear how difficult Dean had it last season.

Imagine if, like many wanted, Dean had been sacked. I wonder where we might be and how bad things could've been for us.

I'm glad, for starters, that the board saw the future with dean. It's good we have the people at the top of this club making the right decisions.

It is exactly as you say.

Liverpool played like they always do. Jack, Barkley, Watkins and McGinn simply were too much for them on the day. That being said, Mane, Henderson and Alisson out of the team certainly did not help them.

Imagine if we lost Martinez, Luiz and Jack

A bit like losing Heaton, mcginn and Wesley for large parts of a season? Yet you heavily criticised him a lot last season. Completely ignoring the mitigating circumstances.

Buy back clause is 2 years long. 1st year £25 million and 2nd year £35 million. Dougie signed on July 25th 2019 so unless I have a misunderstanding we are definitely in the 2nd year of the clause.

Where have you seen these numbers?
