  1. Didn't realise he was only still 26!

Shakespeare has experience with the player and I can only guess that if he did come in it was with a specific plan in mind/job he would do for us.

Of course a bigger name would be more enticing but willing to trust the recruitment team and back him to come good - Always great to be pleasantly surprised at someone's success than underwhelmed by big name/big money.

Think we should legitimately put in a bit for Haaland, we know it will get rejected out right but, let’s just flex our muscle, a little warning to the top clubs and a little bit of posturing for future signings to sit up and take notice.

The price of any other player we were after would then be inflated by a selling club based on this - after all we would have shown we have "muscle to flex"

I have to say this transfer window is as of today ugly. Twitter is an absolute cesspool these days - the so called fans piling in/begging/bad mouthing other fans bases around transfers and some of the braini-dead arguments is embarrasing and Villa fans are amongst the worst as as bad as any I can see these days.

I think I am just going to keep away until after the window shuts.

Running the Fish Pun gauntlet and "benni mcarthy/Miguel etc is a joy in comparison!

I'm sure Charlton Heston scored a few crackers and went missing thereafter!!  Or maybe, he just liked monkeys?? 🤔

    I meant Hourihane.

Take our Grealish away? From my cold dead hands!

Although I agree, I think the far greater need is for a proper DCM, meaning we may have to be more pragmatic around other options.

We have options around the #10 role - Jack, Buendia, McGinn, Chuk. Maybe Luiz too.
Getting both a ACM and DCM might break the bank, and I also wonder if we need a CB given Engels has moved on, so I would rather get the 1 player spot on than stretch a budget between the 2.

With Dougie's technical ability and shot, be interesting to see how he would do without his defensive responsibilities - good to have options!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if there is any chance at all that Shane Long is available he would be the perfect signing for us.

He can play anywhere across the line, is strong, quick, decent in the air and holds the ball up well. Doesn't score all that often, partly because he is employed in the wider position for Southampton, but plays an important team role. He's a players player.

Sounds like a certain 19 year old striker.

Always liked Shane Long - clever player and always seems to give 100%. I would worry about problems fitting in to the team ala Hogan or McCormack though maybe?

Gollini ( Steer has plenty of championship experience and did well during his 38 games with Huddersfield I don't understand why Gollini was bought in) , DeLaet (we have 3 players that can play RB, he isn't really an upgrade on what we had alreday. A waste of a transfer), Chester ( I'm not convinced by Chester at all, I'm not convinced he is any better than Clark to be honest ) , Jedinak ( I know a lot of people think he is great but I have never been a fan. I think he's in decline and was never anything more than bang average anyway IMO opinion of course )

Tshibola was another risky one, very young an inexperienced and injured for almost a year. I do like the look of the lad and you can see potemntioal but it's a risky signing but I can see that he cold turn out to be very good. More concerened by his fitness than anything else

Have you also factored in what players we could have attracted to come here in our current position also?

When RDM was hired didn't Tony or someone mention they were impressed with him particularly because of how he set out plans that he intended to build three teams, one for promotion, one to stay in the PL and one to push for Europe? I vaguely remember that, anyone else?

I remember that too and it does indeed sound like a fine plan!
