  1. Gil is almost 3 years older than Grealish so he'll be a lot wiser. Grealish will relish when we're on the front foot in games, I know he needs to be a reason why we're on the front foot but we've just not been controlling games. Look at the second half VS Blues - he was unreal and that's because we controlled that 2nd half and were playing in their half, giving him plenty of the ball. Up against PL opposition and we've not been controlling games, nowhere near in fact. He isn't robust enough to keep hold of the ball with no support, when he's got defenders doubling up on him.

You are right though, he has been under performing and that could be partly down to his attitude as well, but I just think there's more to it.

  2. If you can't see how talented Grealish is, you must not understand football. He's not some kid who's come in and looked good in patches through luck, his talent is blatantly obvious. He is in atrocious form (how many of our players aren't?) but he will obviously come good at some point. Him and Gil will benefit from some pace and power around them. N'Zogbia would be getting picked by me at the moment. He won't give the ball up easily (unlike Sinclair, Agbonlahor etc), is pacey and is tough.

  3. 15 hours ago, Woodytom said:

We are without doubt, worse without benteke and Delph.

Gabby on the other hand is absolute shite and we would be no worse off without him, agreed.

One of the worst strikers in the premier league. I can't think of any worse that start regularly.

We miss Benteke massively. Not convinced how much we miss Delph though.

  4. Hutton has proved he can do a job at LB, would then be down to whether Remi fancies Bacuna as an RB. I'd much rather those two at FB than Richardson in the lineup though.

Or maybe Hutton LB, Crespo at RB and keep Bacuna for midfield?

  5. Anyone else think his playing style is really unorthodox? Like even in that clip of his injury, the tackle he makes, it's strange that he goes for that with his right foot. Not that it makes him any less of player, it's just weird on the eye.

  6. The most annoying thing about him is how he works himself into great positions but you can almost guarantee his delivery will be shite.

Makes you question...is he working himself into those...or is it the opposition letting him have space as they know he won't deliver :D

I like Hutton though, you'll never see him hiding, always wants the ball.

  7. Yeah my only criticism of Gil is that at times I think he does play very risk free and I'd like him to almost drive towards goal a bit more rather than move the ball on square.

With Jack,  he will pick the ball up in between the lines,  turn and then go forward whilst facing goal.  Would like to see Gil do this too.

But that is the problem (and it's not pointed at all the fans) but where I sit - every time a player loses the ball or tries something that fails - he gets slagged off and the groans start. I have to bite my lip in case it starts off cos that really irks!. Bloke behind me just goes off on one after EVERY misplaced pass or failed attempt to defend or whatever. He even went off on one when Gil lost the ball and started slagging him off!

Maybe he's a bit apprehensive seeing as some fans don't seem to have the patience/control during a game. Just my take - I think as he plays more and gets confident he (and others) will start taking more risks and attempt at least to score more often!

People who slag off everything like that often have no experience of playing the game themselves. So they don't know how hard it is to stay tidy with your passing etc when exhausted, or when running at a high speed, or with the opposition buzzing round trying to intercept everything.

  8. After one game it's obvious he'll offer much more than Westwood. He can actually manipulate the ball in tight areas and drive forwards. Very impressed with the glimpses he showed. That midfield 3 has a lot of potential, time for it be realised now!
