  1. I really don't understand why people got offended that Nike used templates for our kits.

Granted that late release was a farce, but the templates didn't bother me at all.

I still wear my black Nike away kit (2010) because it fits well.

For me, the Macron kits have all been almost nice looking. They tend to over-design our shirts in my opinion. Too many features or frills. Not to my taste. Would love if they went for a classic look like the Lazio shirt a few pages back.

  2. That's a good analysis.

You know, on the basis of the poorest midfield performance I've seen since Lambert, I half considered that we threw the final so that we wouldn't have to play Europa League next season. Silver lining: we'll finish above Southampton next season.

  3. The linesman gave yacob his second yellow, watch the ref look over and speak to him. And I think he started a studs up challenge then chickened out. So i can understand why he got booked for it. His studs land on Banunas knee.

I hope grealish learns from his second yellow. Yes there was contact but he made sure there was, and went down spectacularly. I would like to see that wiped out of the game.

  4. Carles Whisper. (Get it?)

    We're never gonna lose again

    Tricky feet and Spanish rhythm

I know its easy to pretend

But he's made you look a fool

Carving through your midfield and you can't defend

It's a waste of time so just stop trying

No we're never gonna lose again,

    Now we've got Carles Giiiiilll

Do do do do dooo do do

Do do do do dooo do do

    doo do do do dooooo

doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo

    etc

  5. If the signing goes through, I wonder how much of a draw Roy Keane would be in attracting a rock-like midfielder like this. And if this is the missing piece of a puzzle, you would wonder if appointing RK was partly midfielder-bait!?

  6. My guess: Lerner has had a buyer lined up for some time but is merely considering his or her bid. Perhaps he feels that the club could do better. So, he has publicly stated that the club is for sale to tempt any other potential buyers to come forward now, and see if they are a better fit.

Or as auctioneers put it: Going Once...

  7. In case Macron are reading this - I haven't bought any of the Macron kits for the following reasons:

    1. Poor Cut - I like a shirt that fits well, and I can play 5 a side in.

    2. Too Fussy - Macron make nice simple, classic kits for other teams (Lazio, Scotland Rugby), so there's no reason why they can't make one for Villa!

    3. Overuse of Macron Logo - The macron men on the shoulders look awful. As far as logos go, they are ugly, overbearing and in my opinion not brand-identifiable. They just muddle the shirt up. I'd have more respect for a simple 'macron' text on the shirt front. No need for the macron men on the shoulders. Adidas get away with their 3 stripes because they're simple, form fitting, aesthetically pleasing and super-identifiable.

In summary: I'd love a simple, classic design with a modern athletic cut. Lazio kit is a good example.

  8.

That's the way of the world. Stuff with adverts on is cheaper.

Indeed. Even forum based web sites.

Yes indeed. But the subtle difference here is that we are hosting the advertising space, so it should be cheaper for us. If we lived in a world where our chests were rent-able advertising spaces, we'd be the ones getting paid to wear the name of the latest online casino. But, I digress. This is probably a topic for another thread.

As for the Home kit i quite like simple, smart kits. i remember the Lazio style shirt going down well:

    My Opinions:

    The above kit is fantastic.

This season's home kit is nice from the crest down. The weird vents on the chest, an over fussy collar and those superfluous macron men on the shoulders are what prevent me from buying it.

We should have a really simple home kit, saving any experimentation or extra detailing for the away strip.

The Macron men on the shoulders must go. It's enough to have Macron emblazoned in such a prime position across the chest, given as much onus as the team crest. The brand would get more recognition/respect if they used their logo less.

Two different cuts would be great. The Nike 'FX Pro' era jerseys are the last ones I bought because they fitted well. Still wear the black one playing football.

Personally, I think, If a sponsor wants us to walk around wearing their brand on our chests they should subsidise the cost of the jersey. As it stands, we are just willing advertisement chumps who don't necessarily wish to convey the messages of our team's sponsor. I'm surprised there isn't a law against this, actually. I'd happily pay full whack for a shirt with no sponsor, but I think we should be remunerated by dafabet (or whoever) through subsidisation. I think £20 off the jersey price would be fair.

But they pay the club the going rate for the advertisement space, they don't get it for free.
I understand that, but they do get free sponsorship from us every time we wear their brand in public. It seems unfair to me, that you can't wear your club's shirt without being a walking advertising board.
It's not free for them though is it, that's what they've paid for. I don't like being a walking billboard so I'd never buy a shirt with a money making company's name on it.

    This.

It's not free. It's exactly what these companies pay millions of pounds for. To have their logo on supporters' shirts as well as the actual players' shirts.

I guess the sponsors have paid for the privilege. Either way, in my opinion, it's not right.

  12. I can't see us getting anything out of this since we are so early in our transition, and Everton looked very solid tonight.

I fear the Everton defense will be harder to break down than West Ham. An eagre young Villa side with something to prove at home will push forward and Everton will pick us off on the break.

    Hope I'm wrong.

On the plus side; I think we will definitely come good once everyone gets used to the system and the gap between midfield and attack is filled. I trust our support will be brilliant on Saturday.
