Gary Gardner was my motm today against Cambridge. Thought he was class, hasn't lost his passing range and playing 2 years in the championship has hardened him up a bit, looks like he has a bit of bite and steel to our midfield. Wouldn't be overly surprised if he started with Tish at the start of the season. Think he's our most naturally gifted CM we have at our disposal 

Him Gardner looked a class above the rest today against Cambridge Utd as well. He looks to be more positive this season, I like that we're playing him in the 10 role. He seems a lot more effective and involved through the middle.

Watched him for the first time today and he offered more in the 30 or so mins he came on for than Bacuna offered the whole of last season. Was really bright, glides past players with ease and composed when in advanced areas. Think this guy can be a very tidy player for us and can maybe break into our team this year. Very special talent indeed

To be fair Gabby was very good playing as an inverted left winger in Lambert's first season, scoring 10 goals I seem to remember when we were playing on the counter attack. However after that he's been awful. I don't care how much of a 'fan' he is, he hasn't delivered on the pitch and hasn't even shown passion when playing.

Am I the only one who would be genuinely disappointed to see him leave. As a right back think he's a very competent player and light years ahead of Hutton. Think he makes our team better, providing he doesn't play centre back. 

Richards, Okore and Clark are all injury prone, so it won't hurt to get a good cb in to add more depth to the squad. I reckon thats what Sherwood is thinking. Can't see him starting for us, maybe he'll play as a bit part player for us.

Clark, injury prone? He's probably the only one of our CBs in recent years who hasn't been injury prone.

Also, I still don't buy this idea that Okore is injury prone - I think he's just had a really hard time getting over that original injury he had.

Has Clark ever been fit the whole season. He got injured last year, and the year before that? I seem to remember. He gets niggling injuries throughout the season so will need to be replaced at some point in the short term. Okore again has injuries throughout last season and he's injured now so again needs replacing in the short term. Think that's why we've signed 2 centre backs.

Some seem to be a bit worried about this deal.

 

just off the top of my head .....Benzema wasn't an immediate success at Real, if I recall.....and Gomis was playing second fiddle to Bony before his exit to Man City

 

I know, we haven't always got time, but he needs to find his feet in his own time.....I think he will surprise us when we least expect it and never look back.....I think he will be one of them.

Benteke struggled when he first joined. It was only the second part of the first season we started to see him come good.

However, he showed some nice touches, and created a good chance for Westwood right at the end. He wasn't as bad as people are making him out to be, he was fine. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing how Kozak does instead of him

Thought it was more of him anticipating the contact. But diving isn't on, thought he was about 1000000000000 times better than Bacuna tho. When Adama and Grealish are both fit I don't know how we'll be able to fit everyone in. Seeing as Sinclair is banging goals in, assuming we play 4-2-3-1, I'd think Gil will have to be the one that misses out, which is a shame because he's an absolute joy to watch.   

I didn't think Gestede was all that bad. Created a good chance for Westwood right at the end and looked a handful all game. Having said that, will have absolutely no issues with him being dropped for Kozak.

From my really poor stream, it looked like he did dive after over running the ball. We'll hopefully see on motd!

Thought we were really unlucky today. It would've been a different story if we had Jack and/or Adama starting. Thought Gil should've started the game and made a really positive impact when he came on. But overall there are a lot of positives, essentially we've been undone from a worldie free kick and not switching on for the start of the second half. I liked that we created chances at will, we had 19 shots in the end? Richards was unlucky not to score and so was Westwood. We play like that all season and we'll be mid table at least. I didn't see anything wrong with that performance, just don't think today was our day.  

2 assists and it seems like is having more pops at goals. This lad has got it all, I thought at the start of the season he would have a bit of a Sterling ping, but I was wrong. Jack can really strike the ball with either foot. It'll be a big season for Jack, I've said it before and I'll say t again, This team will go as far as Jack will go.

I think we have a strong exciting team especially the 3 behind the striker. We just need to find the right balance, today was way too attacking. In the premier league, we need to find the right balance between attack and defence. That's why I've gfone for Sanchez above Westwood or Veretout. Reckon for strikers we'll be fine with the 3 options and as long as Gabby doesn't get a sniff up top we'll be fine. I believe there is goals in all our striking options, its just about the service.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace added to the forward line up, instead of GA.

A central defender, Eder Balanta of River Plate, Martin Caceres of Juventus or Jeremiah Akaminko who has been playing for Eskiserihspor in Turkey, would fit nicely.

An attacking midfielder like Dennis Praet from Anderlecht would be good. 

 

Yeah retweet. Dwight Gayle would be about million times better than Gabby. Quietly got 5 in 11 last season as well

I've always seen Jack as being a Lallana type player, but with infinitely more potential than Lallana. Basically Grealish has little pace but still ghosts past players and can do magic on the ball.

He's surely got more goals in him than Gabby, so should definitely get a shout. The fact Gabby still plays for us in spite of offering NOTHING and Kozak isn't even given a chance, is an injustice. Don't understand why people are so quick to dismiss him, was our best striker in pre season, looked dangerous 2 years ago as well. Definitely should be given a run in the team. We haven't really got quality strikers keeping him out anyway

 

Thought Kozak may have got the nod ahead of Sanchez against united as we were chasing the game - surely worth risking him for the last 20 minutes .

We had an unused sub, Kozak should of came on for Gabby or Ayew for the last 90 minutes.

Why are people saying its either Grealish or Gil? Why can't it be both. They're both our most creative advanced players. If we adopt our 2 attacking midfield 4-3-3 system, than I don't see anyone beating these two out in our current squad. Think from both pre season and what Sherwood has been saying, he clearly has big plans for both Grealish and Gil.
