The dreaded 'mini pre-season' 

Very quiet VP

This high line is just a complete and utter mistake. Should have been obvious against a team with this pace and timing. 

The high line is suicide without strong press on the ball. Needs practice but in time can work.

The team was clearly instructed to play out from the back. Which worked sometimes but needed better moment-to-moment decision making when the play simply wasn't there. 

I hope Emery doesn't try to empty his complete encyclopedia of football in the players head all at once. These boys are sensitive after all the pain and confusion the last 12 months. 

Feel happy after a Villa game. What on earth is happening

Pretty good but will be shocked if we win this - they will score at least two as they get into our box way to easy.

Digne should play the ball down the left channel more, a couple of times this half he saw the run but decided against playing it. Utd vulnerable when we play the stretch passes on the floor.

Atrocious goalkeeping. 

Second half will be different, Potter must make changes here and get their intensity up. Completely flat from them so far. 

We outplayed and outworked them. Credit to all involved for that. Now keep it up second half.

Can't remember a worse Chelsea performance against us. Really shocking. At least part of that is on us.

Not bad so far

We controlled it but had no cutting edge. Decision making in the final third is just off. Players seem to have no confidence. Watkins and Couthino look like they hate football. Ramsey too deep and static. As was McGinn.

On the positive side we were the better team,  have reclaimed at least some defence solidity and Buendia is an interesting player sometimes.

There is no improvement since last season. The manager needs to take responsibility but a lot of our players look disinterested, unhappy and very mentally frail. Negative body language all over the pitch.  

I think the Mings/McGinn captaincy swap has seriously damaged this season. Such a stupid error of judgement and completely unnecessary.  

It's just so absolutely devoid of joy. They all look like they're at a funeral.  

Very underestimated and still very young. Miles ahead of Ramsey and McGinn in terms of game intelligence and positional sense. The only midfielder who as developed a good chemistry with Kamara. 

Would be a big step back to lose him.

I don't think we are terrible - but we play like we have everything to lose. Just need some confidence from somewhere. Looks like a depressed and unhappy bunch .

Bolton look decent and more than capable of beating us if we lose focus.

It's just completely absolutely terrible, clueless and bereft of confidence and cohesion. It's no way this path leads to top half. More like relegation candidates. 

I don't see what we are trying to do. But I guess we don't look absolutely crap. Very fragile though

need to take Couts off for Buendia to apply better pressure and stop the easy ball progression through our forward line

Bring back Mings and Chambers and ease Carlos into the league. Konsa we can sell. Prefer Hause. 

Give the armband back to the leader of the team, and let McGinn do his thing coming off the bench.

Ramsey should take some time on the bench and play more sheltered minutes. Bring in a new number eight.

Drop Couts, out of form and his lack of confidence seems infecting.

Chambers for Konsa the rest of the season please. Terrible form for so long

Have we created any chances this half?

Our players don't fit together as a unit. We have players great on the ball with an eye for a pass, but no intelligent runners bar Bailey. It's not balanced, too many look to have ball to feet and there is no out ball.

We need width and some players whose instincts are to attack space behind the defence
