  1. Just came acorss this:

    http://www.teamtalk.com/celtic/6262788/Petrov-urges-Villa-to-land-McGeady

Stiliyan Petrov has urged Aston Villa to sign his former Celtic team-mate Aiden McGeady.

Villa could step up their bid to capture the winger now that Bhoys manager Neil Lennon has admitted McGeady wants to leave Parkhead.

Petrov believes McGeady could become a "special player" for Villa whose manager Martin O'Neill is looking to add to his squad this summer.

The Bulgarian international said: "We have special players here at Villa already like Stewart Downing, Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor - and Aiden would come into that category.

"They are the sort of players who can make something happen out of nothing so we would be happy if Aiden came to Villa.

"I think he has developed a lot as a player in the last couple of seasons.

"He's a player that a lot of big teams are looking at presently because you don't see many players willing to take the opposition on.

"It will be hard for Celtic to let him go because he's really important for them and I'm talking like he's coming here when I don't know that.

"But I do know he is the type of player that would be good for Villa."

Celtic are reported to want around £8 million for McGeady.

But O'Neill will have additional funds available, plus those already promised by Villa owner Randy Lerner, if he loses his battle to hold onto the £30million-rated James Milner.

Manchester City have already had one bid of £20million rejected for the England midfielder who is currently on holiday after the World Cup.

The line which got my eye was: We have special players here at Villa already like Stewart Downing, Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor

    HELLO NO MILNER!

...to be honest, I stopped at 'special players like Stewart Downing....'

  2. We can improve our squad with MON type signings and I would be happy with that.

    An example:

Out: Heskey, Sidwell, Shorey, Beye, Young

In: Richards, Doyle/Rodallega, Ireland, Parker, LB cover.

That would be a very good window in my opinion for a net spent of around 15-20 million.

.....all of whom would want to start every week....and probably wouldnt.....so we'd be in the same position next summer...

  3. Just saw a couple of reports that says that SHA dogshit FC are one of a number of clubs interested in Robert Pires ?.....my immediate thought was 'wtf....he's 36' but on closer inspection he still made 30 apps (26 in league) for Villareal last season - apparently he's not been offered another deal as they are 'changing their philosophy' (they're skint). Even at 36, could he do a cameo job for us ? If nothing else, some of our younger lads might pick up some of his knowledge just by watching him train ??.....just a thought ?

  4. Ballack is too expensive for a guy that stands tehre and doesnt look bothered and is a word removed. Plus he will go to a huge team with big money like the Gulf or to Madrid.

Belletti is a player I like a lot since at Villareal but MON has 2 right backs he doesnt play so would be a waste of talent

Would quite like to see Belletti at VP, as much for his versatility to play defensive midfielder if required when Stan is inevitably **** after 60 minutes each week......I think Fulham might also have got a good'un in M'bokani from Std Liege......looks powerful with a good scoring record and £8m seems reasonable enough....

  5. well, I REALLY hope he doesn't go, I think he will be a significant part of our future, but if he does, I'll tell ya one thing....That's the last time I ever pay to get a players name and number on my new shirt! Pah!

    ;-) Gary

....please, please buy one next season.....with HESKEY on the back....(sorry, off-topic !)

  6. Out

    Heskey (2.5m)

    Carew (4m)

    Sidwell (2.5m)

    Salifou (250k)

    Beye (2m)

    NRC (5m)

    Davies (6m)

    Young (3m)

    Shorey (2.5m)

    + 10-12m from Mr Lerner

    IN

    Onouha (5m)

    Clyne (1.5m)

    Benayoun (5m)

    Rickie Lambert (4m)

    Doyle (7.5m)

    Parker (6.5m)

    Prince-Boateng (3m)

    Danny Fox (2m)

Add The Fonz, Albrighton, Clark and Baker to get more games would give us a good balance.

    GK, Friedal, Guzen

DF, Warnock, Fox, Onounha, Clyne, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Clark, Baker

MF, Young, Milner, Downing, Petrov, Delph, Parker, Benayoun, KPB, Albrighton

ST Agbonlahor, Defouneso, Lambert, Doyle, Weimann

    Just my opinion

All gettable and all would improve the squad.

....so lets get this straight, you want to flog our top goalscorer for £4m....and replace him with League 1 hot-shot for the same money......get rid of our best combative midfielder and a future England centre back and replace them with dross from relegated (and almost relegated clubs)...???

Do you smoke or inject ?.........

    20478_283837627547_283738867547_3595871_6523365_n.jpg

My god I actually work with the little baldy guy front left & believe me he aint yer typical loudmouth gobshite bluenose. Really decent bloke but I suppose the beer got the better of him that day.

    Play up Pompeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :hooray:

Well the 2 birds aka "zule chicks" LMFAO are the two local bikes in Marston Green Tavern

I think my mate poled the one in the cap after a wedding reception in Chembo-land....hope he remembered to wipe his three-card on her curtains on his way out.....

  9. Watched the 90mins via a pretty good live stream - thought we showed plenty of endeavour and athleticism, but to be honest the few moments of real quality centred around Arsenal when we allowed them to attack us at pace and play short passes around the edge of our box - that said, they can do that to anybody. Obviously possession-wise, we were in front of L'Arse, but the lack of guile and a striker capable of making an intelligent run, meant we rarely looked like scoring........which is a shame as I felt that they were there for the taking, especially when Campbell came on.

  10. James Milner has bought Villa's full allocation of League Cup final tickets using money he saved, delivering " T' Yorkshire Growler" before he could walk.

He will give these away on Saturday morning on the car-park of the Tyburn House to anyone who can beat him at anything.........looks like a poor turn-out for the final.

  11. from a mobility point of view, id like to see what nrc and sidwell have to offer in the middle

My guess is nothing. Don't you know that everyone is shit apart from the back 4. And even then, Cuellar is a waste of money.

..... you forgot the keeper...... way past his best :winkold:

  12. On the positive side: We more or less competed. They couldnt just walk through the midfield like Wigan did. We should really be out on the balance of this match, but still have a chance albeit a small one) of getting through. Need to keep a clean sheet at VP

On the negative side: We never looked like we had a goal in us. 4-5-1 didnt work. Putting NRC and Sidwell didnt provide the platform it should have. Confidence is very, very low

Guzan: 6. No chance with the goal, nice couple of saves second half

Beye : 3. Seems to be a bit of a pub player. Good with the ball at his feet, good when he is the right position, but he needs to learn he isnt a central defender, he's a right back. He continually gets sucked into the middle and everything Vienna did that was dangerous, including the goal, was caused by exactly this. Drazan baasically had him for breakfast. Wigans second goal came largely the same way BTW

Shorey: 5. An improvement from Saturday, would still like to see him not give the ball away quite so much

Davies 4. Beyond a joke now isnt it? Apparently his shoulder injury is worse now, not surprised. When I told my 13 year old son that Curtis was playing last night before the game he said "O'Neill is going to get him seriously injured and he'll miss ages". Spot on.

    Cuellar: 6. Better

    Milner: 5. Weak

NRC: 6. Added some strength to the middle

    Sidwell. 6. See NRC

    Gardner: 5. invisible.

    Young. 5. Another weak performance

Heskey: 6. tried his best but had no support or service

    subs

Agbonlahor: 6. Added some thing, but not much

    Lowry

    Very worried now

Watched the game in the pub via live feed and having read the other reviews on here, this is probably closest to my own opinion......however, I feel that we will beat them comfortably in the return leg.

As for our premiership season however....... yes I'm worried too.

  13. General, can you explain why it appears our Europa League game against Rapid Vienna on Thursday is not to be shown live on TV in the UK?

Hello General, ref the above post, I am sure that you have no control over TV rights for foreign broadcasters (eg Austrian TV in this instance). However, did the club explore the possibility of beaming the game back to Villa Park, or will they do so in the future, as for certain many of us are not going to be able to see Thursday's game.

I am sure that despite Saturday's result, many of us would still have gone to support the lads via live TV link and would still do do in the future.

  14. One thing to say after this awful performance:

The players who were booed and the fans who booed them deserve each other.

Too bad for the decent fans, though. They did not deserve this crap.

The fans who booed that pile of shite off today are also 'decent' fans..... they also didn't deserve that crap.....shame you don't understand the difference.....

Enjoy your happy-clapping for the rest of the season - by the way, we're the team in claret and blue....

  15. Yeah Camoranesi had a good game tonight. Giovinco looks like a real talent. Just watching that on goltv online. A number of times the commentator said something which really warms the heart....

When watching Juventus vs Real Madrid:

'And Aston Villa awaits the winner in the final'.

How many times are we ever going to hear that? **** get in there!

.....**** good job I never heard that when I was watching - I'd have shot my load..... and people get barred for that in my local boozer...
