  1. We have been linked with some bloody good managers: Benitez, Moyes, Jol.

We've also been linked with some potentially bloody good managers: Hughes, Rijkaard, McClaren, Deschamps.

But there's only one man who would unite every single one of this fanbase and make us all believe that once again, Aston Villa Football Club can retain its place in English football's elite group of clubs.

We should do everything, absolutely everything, to get him to Villa Park.

    Kevin Keegan :thumb:

Ancelotti would be great for this club.

  2. Has anyone mentioned Louis Van Gaal on here?

He's out of work so would cost no compo and he has the kind of footballing philosophy that we are looking for! He brought a lot of the youth team players through at Bayern, got them to the CL final and likes to play attacking football. Remember that this is the guy who had Mourinho has his number two when at Barca!

I would love us to go for him rather than Ancelotti if I am honest. I just think that CA works better when only coaching and not buying the players. He also didn't appear to develop much from the youth set up at AC Milan, where most of his players were older than me! I think our youth system would develop better and be put to much better use by the likes of a Van Gaal or Moyes.

I think no one really knows who will come.

But why are we always thinking of british manager or someone who has already manage english team?

If we are really in big league, trying to get Ancelotti.

Yes, why not Louis Van Gaal. Van Gaal would be good for Villa.

Ottmar Hitzfeld. Highly qualified. Has manage to be Bayern Munchen manager. (n.b. Beckenbauer and Höness are part of the club.) :)

Egil Olsen. Ok not one of the big names, but would be interesting. Has shown good result. Tactical manager.

Lothar Matthaus. As player great, has shown he is a leader. Maybe not experience enough as manager.

Otto Rehhagel. He is old, but what a name. He has all the skills we need. I would become a season ticket fan.

  3. new article in the daily star reckons Ancelotti is genuinely unsure the Villa job is right for him. Lerner will match his wages at Chelsea.. back up to Ancelotti will be Jol Hughes and Rafa.

As much as Rafa is hated on here.. i think he has been successful everywhere he has gone.. hes won more than JOL and Hughes.. and has a better win percentage than both.. i dont think hed be a bad option to be honest.

    This is a great news.

The only question is, does he want to come. If yes, it seems to me the deal is done. If not. Well, who wants to have manager who is not really willing to come.

Ancelotti is high qualified, and he can say no. He don't need to say yes to prove to the world how good he is. That is good for us.

If he join us, we know he is interested.

  4. Is it me or is Hughes agent sounding ridiculous - Hughes may go to Spain, Itlay, Chelsea - but hies definitely not going to villa sort of speak - why would a bloke who is in negotiation with Fulham suddenly resign for something as vague a job in 'spain or italy'

To me the real pisser is - if we wait until july 1 - then Hughes has a very strong hand - if he turns us down on july 1 - were are approaching last summers scenario

    This is selling speech.

He will go to Chelsea (and Manch. United in three years). So the agent talk about Spain and Italy to impress Chelsea.

John Terry has spoken: Hiddink and Hughes are welcome.

  5. We are one of the top teams in this league so it would hardly be something new to him. He's shown he can buy in players and rebuild a squad quite well. He has also shown he has a good eye for talent after what he did at Parma. They spent a fair bit yes, but we can spend a fair bit too.. Ancelotti coming here would be a pretty easy job for him. At best he only needs to buy a new goalkeeper and some defenders, at worst some midfielders too.. The rest will be down to his tactics and work ethic.

    1. We are not one of the top teams in this league. We are a long way off fourth. and now that liverplop are back on form, 6th is probably the best we hope for.

    2. So it would be easy except for the fact that we need to sign a goalkeeper, a few defenders and a few midfielders? Half a team then?!

Liverpool back on form? We finished the season higher up the form table than them. You'd do well not to listen to the nonsense and spin of the media. They don't big up Villa, they don't big up the City of Birmingham and they don't big up the Midlands.

We spent the first century of our existence with more trophies than any other club in England. Tradition and history dictates we are one of THE great clubs. (I'd argue we are THE original giants and greatest club of the game.) Do yourself a favour and don't allow pundits in the media deflate your expectations and hopes for AVFC. Just because an ex-Liverpool player or know-nothing Cockney pundit says 'Pool are back does not make it so. They are rubbish and will crash and burn under the weight of nonsensical hype next season. It's interesting: when Liverpool finish sixth, they are on the way back, yet when Villa finish sixth we are also-rans...it's all about the spin of Scouse supporting pundits and journalists.

Aston Villa, with all cyliders firing, is capable of destroying anything Merseyside can throw at them . The sooner some of our supporters actually show some belief in our club the better for all.

Sorry but true. Liverpool is back, thanks to Chelsea. (F. Torres).

We need one or two strikers.

We need to score 2 goals in average. We just scored 48 last season or 1,26 goals. We need 70pts to be in fourth place. If we don't score, we cannot win the game. If we cannot win, we will never get 70pts.

We make it too easy for the other team, if we cannot attack and score.

  7. I do wonder of all the candidates who would be the most likely to recieve the welcome MON got ?

Of the main contenders only Ancelotti would.

Moyes would raise eyebrows but wouldnt raise as much expectation!

Ancelotti would draw crowds that dwarf MON's imo. I think a lot of people want him, but don't actually think we could get him. If we do, well, it'll be street party time.

    ....

It is high time to visit mekka, if Ancelotti comes.

But, sorry I think this is true "but don't actually think we could get him"

  8. Carlo

Why shouldn't Ancelotti come to Villa? We should have the ability as a club to aim for the top four. We could only be limited by a lack of ambition by the club not by a lack of desire by the fans. Houllier did not get the sack he left by mutual consent due to medical reasons and I wouldn't give MON money to buy sweets as he would just waste it all.

You are right and i am wrong, Houllier was not sacked.

The fans have definately ambitions. I see it like this. It is not acceptable to be below 6th. I will see the club in top four.

  9. Carlo Ancelotti 2/1 on paddy power, oh my god I'm gonna lose it

If this happens we will be set up in every way except the team - and he'll sort that

    .....

Without any doubt. Ancelotti is great manager. But do you really think he will arrive to Villa Park?

He costs, and do we have the money to get him and to buy outstanding players?

Do the club have ambitions to be in top four?

Why did we got Houllier? To create future team. But he is sacked after nine months. Is it possible that our goal is to create another future team?

We had MON, we needed money to buy some players. MON didn't get the money.

I think Ancelotti is too big for Villa. Sorry.

(of course I will be happy if he comes. It would be statement -Villa wants to be in Champ. League-)

  10. I woted for moyes, but is poyet not interesting choice.

Ancelotti has best record, is he really interesting to come?

Deschamps, Benitez or Mclaren omg, NO.

Personally, it would be my dream to see Keegan at Villa Park.

But what about Christoph Daum? He has c.a. 60% winning record. That is around 70pts.

I believe C.D. could find great player, for good price, from germany.

Christoph Daum need a second chance to become great again.

  11. There are two things killing football - owners with very deep pockets and the champions league which is generating revenues for the big clubs that make them so much wealthier than their competitors.

Both of these need to be addressed for football to be competitive again.

I would be happy if the best teams will play in special european league.
