  1. I've no doubt that our youngsters have bags of talent but what they lack is physical prowess, take Barry Bannon for example, the lad is undoubtedly a good little footballer but has little or no physical presence which is what's needed in abundance in this league, they simply get bullied off the park week in week out which is one of the main reasons we're in this position. I don't think we have one player at present that can take a game by the scruff of the neck and lead by by example.

  2. -Hmm.!! Yorke going the Judas route, the day I hated Manure "fans" even more, if that's even possible.

-Enkelman's shambles against the noses and their double against us.

-The team with the worst record against Manure in the Premier League.

-Being so close under Gregory and completely capitulating (utter frustration).

    -Nearly signing Juninho.

    -Barrygate.

-MON & Milner jumping ship in the same week.

-AmcL speculation up to him signing as manager.

  3. I'm all for selling Dunne but we'll need a direct replacement, it's well and good getting a high earner off the books but the last thing an already small squad needs is to be further reduced in size, I still felt we needed at least 3 more quality signings and that's was even before the Dunne proposed transfer.

  4. I often wondered about this actually and watched a program similar to this a few years ago on the BBC I think it was as to why there are so no Asian footballers playing in the professional leagues and they concluded that even though a lot of Asian footballers where in many cases quite technically gifted they simply didn't posses the physical attributes to make it in the professional leagues, in other words in the opinion of the various clubs that trials had been arranged for them they weren't physically strong enough . This is not my opinion but the findings of the programme also that the Asian community have no direct role models that they can aspire to due to this.

  5. Whelan has always appeared to be a control freak and a bully. He is losing control of the situation and won 't have anyone to bully soon, so he is probably shooting his mouth off in an attempt still to appear in control.

Would laugh if his ramblings help screw up little Robbie's big chance of the job with Liverpool, although he would probably be doing him a favour in the long term. That is one hell of a poisoned chalice (even more than the Villa job . 8) )

I couldn't agree more, without a shadow of a doubt, the dippers level of expectation is far too high as we all know, they genuinely still believe their a title challenging side, the kind of pressure that comes with that post reminds me of the England job, failure is inevitable.

  6. OSG? FFS, do me a favour, please wake up & smell the coffee! How can the majority of fans on here be so taken in by a 45 minute youtube video that comical Ali would have been proud of?

I will be absolutely devestated if we appoint OSG. If this guy is really the dogs let him prove it first at somewhere like Wigan or West Brom and then, only then, should we show a firm interest. This is definitely not the time to be taking a risk on our great clubs future. We got it so wrong on the last 2 occasions it's unreal. Please PLEASE not this time again! And you wonder why we keep having to fork out millions in compensation for such crap, money that could & would have been better off invested in the team.

This is pretty much what I thought when I first heard the rumour.

Then I actually WATCHED the video...Then I read this thread with posts written by Norwegians and other followers of OGS's career, which were universally complimentary of him...Then I had a look at what people were saying in Norway about him...Then I read what OGS himself said about Aston Villa...And by then I'd changed my mind completely.

This is NOT "Some muppet" we're talking about here. This is a man who inspires almost unanimous admiration wherever he goes and whatever he does in football, a man referred to by some in Norway as a "national treasure".

If Aston Villa is ever going to inspire anybody ever again, we need to be taking a chance on somebody before the CL clubs come calling. The person to take a chance on is somebody with impeccable football pedigree, likeable personality, winning record, knowledge of the transfer market, and perhaps most importantly, ability to read a game of football from the touchline. OGS is exactly this man, imo.

    Amen to that.

  7. The more cynical Everton fan would say its just a phantom bid made on the day their CEO publically attacked fans who comment on the running of the club that left them without funds to buy first teams players for 2 years.[/quote

    Has it been 2 years..??

  8. Just got home from work after getting an intense ribbing all evening about this crud. We're a laughing stock.

Actually, I'm just surprised you have had time for work with the amount of posting you've been doing over the last 7 years. :D

  9. I can't believe this, We are approaching McLeish. I'm just shocked.

GET THE **** OUT OF MY CLUB RANDY LERNER. **** OFF BACK TO AMERICA. YOU DONT DO THIS OVER HERE.

Ladies and gentlemen we have a WINNER!!!

The prize for the most ungrateful, pig-**** ignorant, over the top, factually bereft reaction goes to.....

    C V Byrne.

    The prize?

A season ticket at another club of your choice. My treat. We don't need idiots like you near this football club.

**** off newbie. Loads of you new **** crawling about the place these days.

    Yeah, you tell him. :crylaugh:

  10. this shite about not hiring managers who have left jobs is an embarrassment to the club. if he's the right man i don't care if he shat in the top drawer of his old boss' desk and wiped his arse in his curtains

Thanks, you've just written my new signature.. :crylaugh:

  11. I'd rather go for Martinez than him, someone who has worked his way up the domestic leagues in England and got a limited side like Wigan to play a more expansive game.

But then I'd rather go for Jol or Klinsmann than any of the above.

Jol has managed both in this country and in Europe to a high standard and would be a relatively risk-free appointment. He also got Tottenham to finish 5th - something MON never managed. And by rights they should have finished 4th that year.

..I don't suppose that has anything to do with the fact that he's never actually managed Tottenham.??

  12. Wouldn't be the end of the world if Sven came, did a decent job at city leading them to their highest finish in years and did a better job with England than the clown currently in charge.

He is only interested in attention, money and getting his leg over.

Yeah, but mostly the last bit.. This is not an option anyway, he only ever seems to turn up if he's promised ridiculous funds.
