I feel half the names being floated are extremely unrealistic. We will never get Laudrup of Villa Boas ever in our lifetime.

So we can't attract a manager who took the Swansea job. Get real, we are Aston Villa, that still means something.

It's not about our club status its about the money.

  2. The championship really isn't that bad guys I mean at least we won't be at the bottom of the table and actually win matches now.

  3. We lose this and I honestly, honestly don't know what we can do to change things.

    maybe theyll fire lambert

    they wont

    were going down

at least Bent Sanchez and Gil will go to a team that doesn't suck.

  4. I think it is turning less and less likely that we will be relegated. QPR has lost 2 of their best players. Burnley has 8 matches of pure hell and will not likely win a single match from here to the end. And these aren't even the teams sitting at the very bottom of the table.

Even if we have a hard time against Hull it's seeming like getting relegated is going to be hard this season. No thanks to our own shitty play but thanks to how poorly other teams are doing.

  5. With all the recent (justified) criticism of our pointless possession football, take a look at how effective and pretty well exhilarating direct football can be from the masters of it.

There's more to "hoof ball" than long passes. Check out the intensity.

If your team plays at that speed your creating a tempo that if your players aren't fast enough will easily allow the other team to score on you.

And are players are not near fast enough. We probably have one of the slowest teams in the league.

  6.

I think one of the big issues also is we overpay for english talent when it costs more than foreign talent and performs worse. Darren Bent's signing and wages alone have cost us over £50m. More than both of Angel and Benteke's signing fees and wages combined.

We had the same issue with Stan Collymore back in the 90s.

N'Zogbia cost us £34m over his contract as well.

Does anyone recall how much it cost us to acquire Nolberto Solano? There are always cheaper alternatives out there.

    Given cost us £29m

That's over £113m in outlay on three players over the past 3-4 years. And not a single one has made any kind of real positive impact on this team in the long term.

For that kind of money there are so many players you could have acquired that were much, much, better.

Not that I disagree with the notion, but really wonder how you've got to these 50m, 34m and 29m figures.

Those are all players on 175k. That's around 8.4m a year over a period of 4 years.

  8. Aston Villa is actually one of the few untapped club that has what it takes to be financially successful under FFP rules. It's a historic team with a good sized stadium in one of the largest metro areas of the UK. But the lack of investment in academy and proper coaches and players have brought it down. Of all the teams in the Premier League Aston Villa is close as to an ideal buy as you can get amongst those that aren't performing well financially.

Everything that is needed is there. The lack of interest has to be due to a bigger issue.

    Nothing is going to happen.

Nothing fans can do will make anything change.

    Get over it.

You want to actually do something?

Actually show up and make some noise at the matches. Literally our only hope.  Any other attempts to change anything is childish and will end up hurting the team more than helping it.

With respect. That is a load of bull. I was there in 68, we didn't accept mediocrity then, and I wont now. It is possible to support the team but not those in charge. To say fans can change nothing, flies in the face of history. Fan unrest has frequently changed managers at clubs, including our own. The most recent being a certain Scotsman with Ginger hair.

Who was our owner back then?

You seem to be under the impression that the current one cares whether or not we are relegated. He really doesn't. He doesn't care at all about the club. It's fans. Whether they protest or not.

Fine take action. Protest. Stop going to games.

It won't change anything. The owner simply does not care. If you do it until the end of the season he won't care. He will not change. Simple as that.

But it will change one thing.

It will change the mood in the locker room and the morale of our players who are pretty shit as it is.

It will only ensure us a relegation.

Let us be clear. There is only one person who can change any of this. He's not a man who will listen to reason. Gives a damn about what the fan thinks. Gives a damn about staying in this league. Trying to reason with him, bargain, protest, set yourself on fire in front of the stadium, bomb the damn field, will all gain the exact same response from him.

    "meh"

    He simply does not care.

  11. We can do worse than Lambert.

To replace Lambert with someone worse is going to give us away.

We have problems with our offense. Yes.

But there are teams that have problems at both ends of the pitch out there.

We need to fix our offense while maintaining our defensive strength or else we are **** permanently.
