  1. Main news right now that 1400 young girls in Rotherham were sexually abused and beaten by muslim gangs over the course of the last few years. Truly disgusting reading the reports.

While it appears to be the case that the majority of perpetrators are probably of Pakistani origin, I've not seen anything saying it is related to any particular sky fairy worship..Did you make that bit bit up?

Yeah, if you're going to put religion forward as the primary motivation for abusing children Christians are the last group in the world who should take the moral high ground.

  2. If you've got a spare slot I'll happily contribute to DHUTWU utd. It would be a great honour to wear the the shirt of my boyhood club and look forward to scoring in the derby. Unless I get transferred in which case I'm Word Removed to the core.

Tricky little midfielder with pace, an eye for a pass and reads the game well. In all other aspects I'm eligible for help from the state. No beard. Free parking sticker.

  3. I think more than anything its down to a shift in how news is produced and distributed. It's cheaper to lift stuff from local papers (where a man drowning could be genuinely newsworthy) and social media, plus it can be be done from the office by an intern working for peanuts, so thats what gets produced. So human interest stories or "it could happen to me" tragedies get precedence over lengthy investigative pieces not necessarily because we're all secretly craving snuff videos and upskirt shots of young girls at the beach but because people who make it can do so quickly and in great quantity. Then catch22 comes in because they use the volume as proof that there's demand.

Obviously that's only a small part of it, and I pretty much agree with you overall in that people need to switch off or source better information for themselves. Then again the falling numbers of newspaper sales year on year seem to suggest it's happening. Maybe in a few years I'll be able to switch on Midlands Today and actually hear about the new Bill that got passed and actually affects me rather than hearing about Sharon's pet ******* goat and it's big dreams of breaking into the entertainment industry.

    Dare to dream!

  4. I could see lowton and herd leaving.  Possibly one of baker or clark heading out on loan.

I wouldn't be against losing Lowton and/or Herd provided we bought someone else in to cover RB, but that's more based on the fact that I'd rather see Bacuna further forward where he can create a bit more. Happy to let him put in the occasional shift at RB if it helps him improve his overall game but long term* I think we could do with a dedicated fullback there.

*long term being after we've got other more pressing positions filled, obviously.

  5. You can hire professional honeytrappers to hit on your partner and then report back on whatever happens, which seems a little morally ambiguous to me. Anyway, even if I were in a relationship my default reaction when approached by a stunning woman is one of deep suspicion and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy level standoffishness. I suppose provided you knew there was a PI on your tail you could have some fun with it by acting as weird as possible, just to goad your other half into reacting.

In writing this I may have reached a breakthrough point in figuring out why I'm single.

  6. Just to add a new one to the list of terrible commentator clichés, "the SAS... that's Suarez and Sturridge" and now "the SAS, that's Sterling and Sturridge" makes me throw up in my mouth. It sounds like something a 6-year-old invented, but these middle-aged men can't help themselves from saying it every game. Even worse is that it is never just 'SAS', they have to qualify by telling you it means Sterling and Sturridge, defeating the entire point of coming up with the embarrassing nickname in the first place.

Also, since conjunctions like 'and' aren't often used in acronyms, I prefer to call them The SS.

I thought it stood for Super Army Soldiers... Anyway, as cringey as the whole Suarez and Sturridge love in was, nothing can beat Bale Benzema and Christiano for sheer corniness. It's just so naff on so many levels that the first time I heard it I actually laughed out loud. Are they even known as that in Spain? I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it was just something the media made up.

  7. Greetings all,

Been lurking for a year or two so thought i'd join in time for the new season. Fell back in love with football on the back end of 12/13 after years in the wilderness. Hopefully posting here will help offset the pain of living in a SHA stronghold.

    UTV!
