  1. Solskjær is norwegian for sunshine.

No, it's not, "skjær" is a reference to, quite simply, a rock in the water. So, Solskjær is basically "sunny rock in the water..." Anyway, breaking news in Norway is that the corporate group Aker is to sell their ownership in Molde and pull funding. Aker is controlled by Kjell Inge Røkke (some of you nerds may remember that this is the guy who owned Wimbledon some years ago). If this is true, the chances of Sunny Rock in the Water coming to Villa has just increased substantially. Without the Aker/Røkke money, Molde is fuuuuucked.

You are right in the fact that "skjær" on its own translates to rock in the water, however, "solskjær" is on its own a norwegian word translating to sunshine or more acurate ray of sun. Like the sun breaking through the skies...

Ha ha, norsk er vanskelig! I think we both may be right, it could be both, actually! Anyway, news about Aker and the municipality seem to indicate that Molde will be in no position to compete going forward.

Mange uttrykk som er vanskelig å oversette direkte, begge stemmer nok men lokale talemåter osv. :) Hadde en sak i går kveld her også :)

Nice with norwegian activity on the forum and hopefully if this goes well a lot of media attention in norway and a lot of new supporters. Maybe i wont be the only one from my small town wearing a Villa beanie, hat, cap :)

Wow... I knew it was cold in Norway but that is ridiculous!! :D

  2. I can't even bring myself to watch that, just seeing him makes my blood boil. He realy is on another planet. I have a horrible feeling that he won't be sacked and he deffo won't walk. If nothing is said by tomorrow night then he is staying and we all will cry. Either way like has been said on another post they need to tell us! Back him or Sack him... 100% Sack though.

  3. Well, the target was Europe, we were told. I can't see how missing that target so utterly miserably can mean anything other than the sack in the summer.

First season as manager and some key injuries don't excuse this season.

Oh yeah, forgot about the europe aim we were all told about... Oh how my expectations have fallen, I remember feeling down about 'only' qualifying for the europa league!
  4. He'll give Mcleish some cash and fully believe we'll be ok with him as manager.

Unfortunately for us it means a very shit future.

I think its a bit like have a crap job in reccesion - you know it isn't good - but changing is a lot of hassle.

The way Randy flew in, hired Mcleish, flew out - suggested to me he was thoroughly pissed off with the whole manager hunt. was just pleased to get it over with - and doesn't relish re visiting it.

however I just have a feeling something will change and Mcleish will step aside.

Wish I shared your optimism mate. I can't see him leaving without being sacked, no matter how bad things get he won't sacrific his pay off! Plus RL won't sack him unless we are bottom of the league leading up to christmas and we all know what usually happens in that situation don't we!?
  5. Were **** now with QPR, Wigan & Bolton all winning and us not even putting up a fight for 75 mins.... We no longer have a safe cussion, right in the thick of it now and have the harder fixtures not to mention an injury crisis, very young squad and a manager that specilises in religation.

    AM OUT.... NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I hate that we now don't think we can beat Blackburn... I hate what we have become. Lose today and we are in more of a mess.

I'm going for a 2-2 draw. Us to fall behind then score 2 and then for Blackburn to score in the last min. AMc to say we were awesome and is disapointed that we couldn't hold. But in reality we got lucky played crap defensive shit and had to rely on Blackburn messing up.

Wonder what the odds for all that would be :D

  7. Yeah I understand you Richard. That's a completely valid thing to be baffled by to be honest. I actually do fall somewhat into the category you describe however (as you probably know). The reason I still support Lerner is because ultimately I think in everything he does, Randy has the best interests of Villa at heart as opposed to him putting himself above the club. And that is the crux of it for me. He will make bad decisions along the way. I'd like to think that no-one is perfect and that no matter who was in charge, they'd make a booboo here and there - and be allowed to make it. I genuinely think he hired McLeish for the right reasons, even if a) some don't think it and b) it hasn't worked out the way we would have liked.

As soon as I start to think that Randy's Villa business decisions are not directly in Villa's best interests then I will change my opinion of him. But at this moment in time, the reduction in the wage bill is nothing other than bringing us into line with what is a fundamentally unfair financial regulation, but one with which the club will nevertheless have to conform to if we are ever to progress. It's hopefully the pain coming before the pleasure, and in a way it is also the pain coming as a direct result of the recent pleasure we enjoyed under O'Neill.

    Agree with this 100%

When Mcleish picks Heskey as a winger it's because he believes that's the best for the club. Will you support that decision? Would you not want a better winger in place?

I would like a better winger in place but I can see what AM is thinking trying to give us more height/experience etc. AM is trying his best and I'm not one of the protesting lot (yet) but I will not support some decisions that he makes like I don't support all decisions that RL makes. That might mean to you that I'm hypocritical but RL & AM are 2 different people, RL is far more invested than AM, getting things wrong for RL means he loses a LOT of money, if AM gets things wrong then he gets a big pay packet and will move on.

    Agree with this 100%

  9. Wolves have accumulated 14 points from their last 22games, what's going to change that will mean they will get 8 points more than us from their remaining games which include Newcastle, Arsenal Man Utd and Man City. Bolton have virtually the same fixtures as we do, why are they going to get 9 more points than us. Wigan have to play Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle. Why are they going to get more points from those games than us. They're not, there's no chance of us going down.

Wish I shared your optimisum mate, football is a funny old game. Things never work out as they should :(

  10. We are small heath, no point denying it.

All the stuff about McLeish "having" to play that way there due to the squad he had, bullshit.

Not playing Gabby on the wing. Bullshit.

The fact he is not a defensive manager. Bullshit.

The fact that the type of performance given today was and is "excellent". Bullshit.

Dunne saying he is the right man for the job. Bullshit.

The club is in danger of turning into one big propoganda machine with a fool driving it down. Randy and his team need to appreciate that with all due respect to Americans, we dont bite on everything we are told. We want to believe in the dream, but we recognise a nightmare.

The sooner that McLeish and Faulkner are gone the better. People think we will not go down, that is a dangerious thought to have.

Agree with this... I'm worried BIG TIME... next 4 games will define our season.

  11. Setting out not to lose is a sure way to lose... why the hell can't AM see this? He should be getting the players to fear no one, to go out and win EVERY game! If we do not pick up points from our next 4 games then the 'moaning' he has received so far will be like a whisper compared to the hurricane of discontent that will be aimed his way. I was against the protests for today but if we do not put in performances/results in our next 4 games then my misses will be needing to buy new bed sheets
