Subbed off and probably deserved it. Faded badly in the second half.

Agreed. He looked very comfortable on the ball first half but I don’t think he helped much defensively and the yellow card didn’t help.

  2. Without being a doom and gloom merchant, could the timing of this be down to deflecting from the alleged Heck rumours.

Ok I feel a bit like Matt Le Tissier now!

  3. Don’t attach any blame to Emery for the result. We could all see the drop off before the second goal and he was raging about it. We played well and deserved to win. Elite football is fine margins and we were very unlucky today. We’ll be a different team with Pau, Konsa and Digne starting in the back 4.

The guy absolutely made an impact and was unlucky not to score what's the problem lol

100% this. He’d be hailed as a player with high potential that just needs to cut out his attitude if one of the chances went in.

Came on, made an impact. Did well.

  5. I’ve been doing a save with Tamworth. Back to back promotions all the way to the Prem. Won the title after my 4th season and with a wage budget of £1m pw. The big issue is we’re still playing at a 6k capacity Lamb Ground and because only one stand has seats, only away fans attend our home Premier League matches.

The season we won the league, we were 2 points behind Man City, who we were playing at home on the final match of the season. We win 3-1 and our players are parading the title around in front of the City fans doing cartwheels. Actually laughed out loud for the elite level of sh*thousing from our players.

We strangely play our European matches at Villa Park, presumably to meet the rules and regulations but are moving into a 26k seater stadium at the end of the season.

  6. I really would love us to sign lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord. Good height, age and can play CB,RB,DM. Contract expires next summer too. Maybe too expensive for January with Feyenoord top of the league but hopefully one for summer.

My only thought would be that he was late changing things up - how many of us saw this coming ? So an elite coach must also have seen this coming right ? But I also acknowledge that sometimes in football it’s hard to halt momentum regardless of what a coach tries to do 🤷‍♂️

I was thinking that, but I don’t think any of the available options really change the momentum of the match. We needed to be able to bring on someone like Tielemans to help us keep the ball. Just simply didn’t have quality options today in that position.

Perhaps he could’ve put McGinn back where Donk was when it went to 2-1 and brought on Zaniolo for his physicality but it’s hindsight.

  8. Think we were a bit limited tonight on selection. Full strength (minus Mings and Buendia) I think we hold on and win comfortably. Biggest loss for me was the composure of Tielemans and Torres, which is what we lacked the most. Digne’s injury massively disrupted us too.

No blame on Unai for me despite the massive frustration of losing after leading 2-0. Think the players needed this result to show you can’t switch off and hide from the ball when the going gets tough.

  9. I thought he was very solid first half but being so casual at that stage in the match, lazily passing to Luiz when United are building momentum is naive and not something you’d expect from an experienced centre back.

  10. Would anyone consider Cole Palmer from City? Rumours he may be sold. Would be great for us, mentored already by an elite manager but will struggle for consistent game time at City.

Still need someone like a Foyth to hybrid the right back / centre back role. Chambers is great depth in Europe but don’t fancy him having to play centre back in the Premier League and we need to keep Konsa, Pau and Carlos as fresh as we can.

  11. Just a hunch but I wonder if our remaining summer plans are waiting on Ramsey to leave for Burnley and possibly Archer to free up the FFP wriggle room we need.

I think Foyth makes a lot of sense to come in for Cash as would Demiral to replace the aggression and height of Mings. Zaniolo would be great for the squad as would a punt on Luka Jovic who I think only has a year left on his contract at Fiorentina.

In addition to Ramsey and possibly Archer the disposal of Davis even for £5m would be huge for FFP.
