  1. Crystal Palace have scored 3 goals on 4 occasions this season. Not only has Bannan not played a single minute of these games in 3 of them he wasn't even on the bench.

It's quite conclusive that dropping Bannan from the squad altogether leads to more goals for the team. It's quite ironic as he is meant to be the best crosser in the world.

    :D

  2. There were 23 key passes in the game. In every game there are LOADS.

These are not big moments. They do not mean anything significant. To state a player should be started as they did a SINGLE key pass (whatever one of those is) when the likes of Puncheon and Dikgacoi did more key passes is nothing short of nonsensicle, ignorant hogwash.

    Goodnight.

  3. Con, you have entertained me over the years with all this spiel but you're even beginning to bore the absolute pants off of me now. Why don't you just give up. If he is good he will forge a career in the Premier League. If he isn't he won't. It really is as simple as that.

Your stats are boring, irrelevant and a complete waste of your time creating them and everyone elses time having to read them.

  4. Don't understand this "wasn't a red card" nonsense.

It was 2 yellow cards as clear as anything. If a player is already on a yellow card it doesn't mean that the severity of any future fouls has to be worse than a normal yellow to warrant the sending off.

A very late foul = yellow card.

A cynical foul to stop an attack getting into a dangerous situation = yellow card.

IMO Lambert only came out with his quotes after the match to keep the peace with Chelsea/Mourinho... not because he didn't believe it two yellow cards.

  5. Latest Crystal Palace and Bannan stat:

Crystal Palace have scored the highest number of goals from set pieces in the league this season. A huge 44%.

Bannan has assisted in 0 of these, although he is the best crosser in the Premier League.

I have created the below graphical interface to help understand:

Be interesting to see how he does today... :D

  6. Without getting carried away with the likes of Cantona who we could never have signed, I reckon Robbie Keane first time round. He would have been a legend and made a massive difference at the time. John Gregory not signing him was a massive **** up!

Doug Ellis pulled the plug on that through sheer stubborness. I remember Gregory coming out afterwards and said we offered Coventry eleven twelfths of what they wanted but Ellis wasn't willing to go the whole hog.

    Such a shame.

  7. You need to find that infamous - yet surprisingly and strangely never quoted - post where I said Bannan was going to join one of the big clubs.

Also, I do continue to say he has world class crossing ability. He has shown that over two seasons. The question is how the rest of his game stands up.

Beckham world class crossing = 20 assists a season. Bannan world class crossing = 1 assist a season. Do the math Con. And in response to you saying Bannan and big clubs... you said he is worth £20m and if you were Ferguson or Wenger you would buy him. If that isn't stating he is one of the worlds best players I don't know what is.

So you think bannan will be playing at arsenal or man u next season?

if I was Wenger or Ferguson, I'd make a cheeky offer.

    I wouldn't sell him for £20m.

  8. I haven't once stated Beckham was over rated, stole a living or wasn't world class. All I have asked for is a quality of his other than crossing which was world class and thus far no one has come back with anything. This was a view point from the late great George Best also... should he had considered a new hobby also for making the same observation?

I fully agree with Xela's post... he was the perfect professional and always gave 100% for his team even when they didn't have the ball and had truly great leadership stills. Any team in the world would benefit from these attributes.

    Shocking? Not really.

    Anyway, back onto Bannan...

Con, it's really good to read that you are now stating that Mata is a better player than Bannan and that he could learn from Leon Britton and hopefully some day emulate him as this shows that you are slowly beginning to align with Bannan's actual potential. You still have a little way to go yet, but at least you aren't stating he has world class crossing ability and is going to go on to join the biggest clubs in the world.

Also, just as a side note, if you include only wins from any player their points per game average is going to be pretty awesome.

  9.

Beckham was only able to cross a ball.

That is definitely not true. Beckham was an excellent player with more to his game than just crossing.
Care to expand a little bit?
    Manchester Utd

    Real Mardid

    AC Milan

    PSG

You don't get signed by these clubs if you are a 1 trick pony. Facht

Can you answer the original question rather than list clubs?

We have all watched David Beckham hundreds of times so I'm not going to write what we all already know.

Do you really think a player that could only cross would have the kind of career he has had? If you do then you're doing "watching football" wrong.

It would have taken you less time to write what else he was good at rather than write another sentence avoiding the question again.

If you can ping a ball 50 yards with pin point accuracy, take free kicks with pin point accuracy (crossing and shooting) and in the process get 20 assists a season (con, please note here the word season and not career) then you will be rightly so a world class player. Doesn't mean you're world class at anything else though.

So, unless you can add to the list anything else other than crossing to the list of his qualities lets get this topic back on subject.

  12. His crossing is about 35% accurate this season. That is still very high percentage. He can do crossing like few other players at this level can. That is now without doubt.

So this is about his 4th successive season where he has one of the best crossing stats in the league yet he only has a handful of assists. Something doesn't quite add up Con and I think if you watched some of those "successful" crosses which contribute towards that stat it might become glaringly obvious to you.

Beckham was only able to cross a ball. Now, if Bannan's crossing was anywhere near being remotely as good as Beckham's he wouldn't be on the Palace bench would he.

Wake up and smell the coffee, or continue with your stubborness. Your call, but the longer you defend the indefensible the more foolish you look.

  13. I never thought you would abandon your crazy fan power notion if you haven't given up Bannan being hopeless by now. You truly are the stubbornest person I have ever known.

Swansea may go after Bannan again in the summer. If they get relegated.

  14. Maybe the owners wanted to buy Bannan over the summer, Laudrup didn't.

Maybe the owners wanted to buy Bannan again over the January window, Laudrup didn't - hence why the chairman didn't think a deal was "really possible."

Laudrup didn't want to continue Swansea's post-Martinez tradition of Spanish style passing football, didn't want to build a team around Bannan.

This is exactly my line of thought also. The owners who know nothing about football telling one of the best players in the world in his generation how to play and what to do when it is apparent the players the owner thinks are good are actually awful.

  15. You write that in jest but in the summer there were rumours about Swansea going in for Bannan and it was swiftly followed by Laudrup saying he is considering his future as he doesn't have the full control. It is no coincidence that Bannan is linked again and this time Laudrup leaves.
