  1. Dunne and Collins but not at the moment. Collins has looked a little unsure of himself. At the moment Dunne and Cuéllar.

I love Carlos as a central defender. Collins impressed me right from his Villa debut until his injury. Dunne I wasn't 100% sure about but it has slowly become obvious that the guy is a jewel, almost irreplaceable.

Ok then, Collins and Cuéllar just to give Dunne a rest. Blimey, with Davies on the way back and Clark around we have no problems at all in the centre of the defence do we?

Although Davies and Cuéllar together I can live without.

  2. I agree with everything jon has said so far on this thread (sorry jon  ). All players need a rest from time to time. Especially those who seem to be a bit jaded (Gabby?).

I voted for Downing, but with reservations. I feel Downing needs a rest, he's been thrust back in after a long spell without playing (no, not intended as a dig at the manager), but he also needs to get games under his belt. I wasn't too happy when Ashley was serving a suspension and Milner was taken away from his new CM rôle and played out wide. Any rest for him or Ashley only if Albrighton gets the nod and the system isn't disrupted.

Warnock may also need a rest, but some disruption would be inevitable (Luke Young at LB & Cuéllar at RB). Petrov, Dunne, Milner... They've all played a lot. But as few square pegs in round holes as possible please (ooh look another sly dig at MON for those at Digwatch).

Of course only really MON and his team (Jim Henry, Alan Smith? You tell me) will truly know who needs a break and who doesn't.

  3. I was going to vote for Ashley Young as MOTM anyway when suddenly the voice on the tannoy said it was Milner, and immediately Ash shot up the field and scored, almost as if to say stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Is he better on the left or on the right? I also thought Heskey made some choice contributions. And yes Jimmy was very good too. The defence as a block, hmm. And the less said about Guzan the better.

  4. Ashley Young - diamond geezer, works his socks off, tears his marker(s) a new one, crosses too far, ball goes past the far post. Time and again. At least when his putting in inswingers from the left.

Just now and then, sometimes twice in a match, sometimes once in two matches, gets it right and we get a goal. Similarly with free kicks and corners. Does he practise crossing? Such a shame. The likes of Gabby and Carew can do little with this kind of service.

I agree with the 7 for Cuéllar. He did what he had to do, defended well, worked like a Trojan, kept making himself available when we moved up, but I'm afraid I also agree with John and his comparison with Luke Young. Cuéllar over Luke Young was a good choice as a one-off for the Blackburn match. Now let's have Luke back please.

  5. I went and voted for Dunne as Man of the Match. Wish I hadn't now. Petrov really if only for scoring a direct hit on Robbie Savage and drawing blood, according to the BBC site. Otherwise I'm told we had a lot of possession. Not much use when the final ball in is inevitably so **** hopeless.

  6. I enjoy Paella, REAL Paella. That comes with seafood.
In the Valencia area - where paella comes from - they insist till they're blue in the face that "la paella de pollo y conejo es la auténtica paella valenciana ." Which is a bit silly. Someone earlier referred to the paella mixta. In Valencia you shouldn't even mention it - they'll tell you it was invented in Madrid. Again rather silly.

There's quite a variety of paellas in fact.

  7. Boc boc boc dead chicken (dead), cuddly bunny rabbit (dead), different kinds of beans, and rice?

Or friendly old prawns (hopefully with the sewage cleaned out), jolly little scampi (dead), a perky (but dead) king prawn or two, and maybe a few snails (dead - I think) plus one or two other things. And rice.
