Benteke was already on our radar. Mcleish was the one who first spotted him.

I see you read that on the Birmingham fail and actually believed it. Notice I said "signed" which is the factual part.

Many clubs are silly and don't broaden the net wide enough with transfers.

    Ain't that the damn truth.

It also helps if you have contacts far and wide as well. We signed Benteke because Lambert sent the assistant manager of Dortmund (his old club) to go watch Belgium vs Netherlands in 2012 and report back to him.

That would mean we have another CB nailed on to sign. Yet again not the first position most of us were looking to strengthen, but a senior partner for Mings to take some pressure off Konsa would be a good addition.

A CB should definitely be in the priority list.

If a couple of the promoted teams defences are solid then...

That player however is never going to join us who just finished outside of the relegation places when your competition is the top clubs in Europe.

Villa fans crack me up. It's "We improved dramatically as a team after the restart" and "I'm confident at what I saw in the last four games to know we'll be fine next season," but the second anyone mentions any potential quality additions that we may or may not acquire, it's "We finished outside of the relegation zone by the skin of our teeth. get real"

I have no problem with a player deciding not to come to us. My issue is that we most likely wouldn't even submit a bid.

  5. I really hoped we'd go back in for Nzonzi to play alongside Luiz next season, but his Rennes loan had an option that if they got in the Chumps League it would automatically renew for another season, gutted.

I couldn't give a damn how old he is, put his name in YouTube and you will be very impressed.

    Doucoure to Everton for £25m.

Thats the 3rd midfielder they have signed.

I would match them for that price

Everton are signing some damn good players. Getting 4 points off them next season won't be as easy, that's for sure.

A lot of people are missing the wages point. It’s infuriating.

Rodriguez will be on mind boggling wages. £200k/week possibly more given the size of the drop in club stature. That’s >£10m/year forgetting bonuses, agent fees etc.

Over the course of a 4 year contract that’s £65m + fees (Probably another £5-10m). With hardly any resale.

If it means us building an organic, evolving team that can one day become self sufficient I don’t mind avoiding these deals.

Signing him could potentially attract a better calibre of player for them in future windows though, he has a mega huge social following.

"If it means us building an organic, evolving team that can one day become self sufficient." I feel like I've entered the healing fields of Glastonbury by mistake again.

Keep him around. I'm sure he'll still get games. And an experienced guy behind the scenes, we don't have many of those left now.

Completely agree. He also has a very good cross on him and rarely puts a foot wrong when called upon.

If it wasn't for his whipped cross that set-up El Ghazi in the POF who knows where we would be.

The players we are being linked to are massively uninspiring.

    Wheres the ambition?

Think we will be lucky to avoid another relegation battle if Watkins, Wilson, Cash and Swift are the best we can muster...

It's really depressing to be honest.

They were going to sell him to Wolves just 18months ago or whatever, plus they've invested heavily already. It's not that outrageous that they may wish to move him on and put that money toward attracting a better striker.

    That was a loan.

  11. People are still pining over some loan player than signed a contract extension the other month. No wonder why we can never move forward as a club, too much of the fan base is still living in the past.

Chelsea are NEVER going to sell their top goal scorer that scored 15 goals in 34 league appearances for them last season in this window.

Abraham has been with Chelsea since he was like 7 years old, if you think he's going to give all that up and make a permanent switch to Birmingham anytime soon then you're living in fantasy cuckoo land.

Speak for yourself - thanks to Villareport you can get a 10 % discount for buying Villa merchandise.

That code doesn't work if you want a name/number on your shirt. To get 10% off your entire order automatically you put a made up name and email where it says "sign up & save 10%". Also, when I bought the home I got 5% on top of that back via TopCashBack, away was only 1.7%, but still better than sweet fa.

You put your real email and name info when you go through to the order page.

  13. Wow. Another thread for a player we haven't bid on, or have had a confirmed bid accepted.

I just scrolled through Nixon's tweets and he reckons Benrahma is in the £30m range HAHAHA. Give me a ******* break already.

This is the standard of that drivel. The likes of James Rushton being classed as some authority is laughable to say the least. The kid sits in his bedroom surfing the net nothing more and has no real credentials whatsoever. All just clickbait.

Those using NewsNow can block all Birmingham Live publications using the cog, they're the biggest load of crap imaginable.
