Jack is gone..... we are better off planning for him not being here rather than hold blond hope that he will stay.

Put it this way if Jack does say then our financial situation would not of be fixed....

Jack probably is gone but until he’s a actually sold we should do everything’s we can to sell the others anyway. Simply getting Jedi Birkir Hogan Lansbury Ross Richards and a few others off the wage bill would save 10-15m a year anyway without adding in any fees  we’d get. Then if we still were struggling we’d only have to sacrifice one of CHester Jack and Kodija

Been a good few days for Revan, new 2 year contract and first team debut albeit in a friendly and it was a friendly, very good centre back

I was impressed by him in his U23 games last year. Hopefully he can play a bit mote this year with Bedeau moving up.

  3. I’d do everything we can to keep Jack. Sell Jedi Birkir Tish Gardner Ross Taylor RDL Hogan. If that’s was enough to get us through this season I’d be happy. Then we’d loan in a left footed LB Get Axel back add in 2/3 other loans and we’d be set

I'd have Barry back if he was willing to accept an absolute pittance. I'm talking £2k p/w, or a similar amount that we would be otherwise paying to an academy graduate. For anything totalling £20k per month upwards, it's just not worth it. We can have the same level of quality and experience from keeping Jedinak or Whelan. But if he wants to come here to simply do his old club a favour then his experience would be welcome, but only if he comes for peanuts.

Getting rid of Jedi and Whelan and getting Barry in would save 50k a week and in my opinion improve that position. He also loves the club and you can get him involved with the youth. We need a stronger Villa presence running through the club. I’d even get Tony Daley back to do the fitness.

    1) haha, come on. What a way to just brush off 2 pretty unusual events. We failed to pay our tax bill, and at the moment the CEO, who was suspended, is taking the club to court. You act like these are normal weekly events for most clubs.

    2) what? If we are experiencing financial issues it is because of him and probably due to his lack of honesty when he bought us. What if him trying to sort it ends up saddling the club with crippling debt? What if it involves selling shares to people who bring new problems? The idea we should just back him because is laughable. The kind of blind faith the last guy was given for far too long.

    3) is he fighting for us? It seems he is fighting to keep his investment and his mirage of vast wealth.

Number 1 could easily be put down to the CEO not sorting the tax bill so getting sacked for being negligent. At present we don’t know  since the DR has been here he’s been giving money monthly to pay the bills and has done so again  FFP is a different scenario which we all knew would happen with dwindling income  you’re all over the place on number 2  if he’s sells it could be to someone worse s our I’m no that’s sure if you’re for or against the dr staying as with number 3. Whether he wants to protect his investment or not the only way he doesn’t that’s is by us being successful so on that we can’t lose.

  6. So on the 25th May the Doctor was deemed to be a good owner. Subsequently we’ve paid a bill late and sacked a bloke a lot wanted gone anyway and now the Doctor is public enemy number 1!! Ive no idea of our actual situation as virtually everyone on here so until shit happens I won’t  judge too much much but if we are experiencing financial problems and the Doctor is fighting it sort it out I think he deserves our backing. He could easily walk away but if he fights for us and does sort it out he’ll actually be an owner that cares and I want an owner is willing to fight for us. Ultimately it’ll come down to money so if he has got it I’ll be happy for him to carry on.

So he spent 15M on wages and what, £1M on transfer fees last summer - £16M total?

Forest have just spent £13m on one player.

Wolves did the same last season.

But apparently we had the best squad and had spent the most blah blah blah blah.......

£2m was the loan fee for Snodgrass but you don’t hear much about that either...

    Nobody WANTS Bruce to continue.

Some people have observed that given the shit position we find ourselves in financially, keeping Bruce might not be such a bad idea. We will have a badly depleted squad and we're unlikely to be able to attract anyone worth their salt to manage the team given the conditions they have to work under.

I would HAPPILY sack Bruce and replace him with a better manager. I just have absolutely no faith that we are in a position to attract anyone better. We're **** next season.

If we arent going to to be anywhere near promotion next season surely now is the time to appoint a manager to build the team? Simply being Aston Villa will let us attract to play end Championship managers. Who wouldn't want to manage a team with little expectation and 30000+ crowds. Keeping Bruce has to be for a positive reason not because we are just putting up with him. I’d have Dean Smith. There’s Óscar Garcia out of work and a load others.

I think we will keep Bruce because of the upheaval we have had already and we’re now running out of time to do anything else. If Bruce is still here at Xmas it will mean we are challenging but a slow start and the knives will be out early. IF he thought last year was pressure he’s in for a shock.

  9. Hutton was an awful RB he is better at LB but he’s still not good. He’s wouldnt get near people so top 5 LB in the championship and if he is 1st choice we won’t go up. He has looked good a time this level but the final showed he still lapses at times. If signing him stops the progress of kids like Bree it’s wrong. If he is in to cover i can live with that but we’d need better to get promoted. Hopefully we sell Taylor and Elmo and we get another 1st choice LB in and Hutton covers both sides.

Set up defensively ? That's right I don't. Id say we stopped doing that around about Burton Away...and I went to pretty much every game Home and Away.

Hard to beat - yes, but that's not the same.

Nothing defensive about playing a Striker Plus Jack, Snodgrass, Albert and CH.....and with Fullbacks getting forward.

But I was more responding to your observation about what the statistics confirmed, which is different to opinions - they don't confirm either view.

We set up defensively in most games IMO. The playoff final was symptomatic of our season. Fullbacks hardly got past their winger even though when we didn’t it was successful. IF Bruce would’ve gambled a bit more and had the confidence to start on the front foot every game i believe we’d have got automatic. It seems fine margins at the top end.

Can't imagine anyone will want to buy the club once they do DD. They will find a club with massive cash flow issues, spiralling wage bill and mortgaged up to its neck.

Those are just the hall marks of relegated clubs and left over contracts. The wage bill isn’t spiralling though It’s higher than where we want it or need it but we have assets to cover it. If we sold Jack and Chester we would easily have enough money to cover any cash flow issues. I’d say we could even get away with selling most fringe players to be able to hold on to them for another year.

  12. It’s not 2 weeks since we lost. It makes sense Xia didn’t input cash a single as he assumed we’d go up and would have PL money to wheel and deal with. Wyness has bumped the VAT to make us look bad and it seems Xia has now sorted funding. Hopefully that soon right anyway! Panic over.

I think there is a misconception of how good our youngsters are. If they were good enough they would play. Grealish aside, Gardner is one of the most talented players too come out of our youth setup and even he struggled playing for us.

Ive no doubt some of our younger players will have decent championship careers similar to how Robinson has managed at Preston.

But I don’t think they are as good as we like to believe and even when given a chance will struggle to match the expectations of the fans.

Gardner has been knackered through injuries.

  14. We sponsor everything. The DR renames Villa Park so we’d don’t have to sell anyone we don’t want to. We then build the team around Jack and Chester. We’d be left with a team of Steer Bree Chester New CB Taylor Birkir Jack Hourihane Adomah Green Kodija. I’d get James Collins in. Loan Axel again. Promote Lyden, RHM, OHare, Clark, Bedeau, Hayes-Doyle and a few others. We’d still need a bit more depth  but we could fill that through loans and free transfers. Easy

  15. It’s a pretty ambiguous statement but I think it means we are getting rid of Bruce. The DR can’t really say much at the minute but my gut feeling is he thinks Bruce is very popular with the fans so is covering himself. We need a long term appointment with a recruitment policy to match.

  16. We’ve only got a small window here to do something. We need to have next seasons manager in place very soon. This summer will be very tough. The only reason i could envisage keeping Bruce is to keep the continuity going and not having much disruption but then I thinks back at how we started last year. How many woeful games we had with a top class squad. The negativive approproaches to so many games and think he has to go this week. The job maybe to big for Dean Smith but I’d back him. I’d also be looking at the likes of Oscar Garcia and Marco Silva. The latter looks likely to go to Everton but at the minute those are available so we could talk without any worries. We need a manager that will introduce our youth and get some us playing fast attacking football. If we get that then not getting promotion next year won’t be the end of the world. If we stick with Bruce it’ll the same as this year and next summer we could be in a far worse place.

  17. I thought after Saturday we’d be in a position to look at transfers but now until we sort who our manager will be it’s all still up in the air. It looks like we’d will be looking at free transfers and loans so we need to get this sorted.

I think I'm over the loss now. Things are looking more up. Actually I think Championship is a good league to be in. Even for a great club like ours. It's better to be the biggest team in Championship than a relegation favorite in Premier League.

I'm looking forward to next season again. We are the biggest team in the summer transfer market with lots of action to be expected, both in and out. We may have a new manager, or not, we'll see. We'll win more than we'll lose. Quality of football is not so important to me, as long as it's Villa on the field. We'll be chasing promotion again. We have the best fans and the greatest stadium in the country. Foreign fans get to watch AVTV again.

Yeah, Championship is ok by me again, at least for another year.

BEComing the next Leeds is not something we want to become.

If we go up we can do better than Snodgrass (and Johnstone).

Snodgrass for Hull in PL has a very good record. Johnstone is very good and will only get better. I’d sign both straight away. We will need to add quite a few if we go up so buying positions that’s are already decent in is pointless. We will need fullbacks, midfielders and a centre forward to start.
