know at the time that he wanted Fergie to come in for him
-
Not odd, know at the time that he wanted Fergie to come in for him from Forest for his last big money move, but they didn't and Mad Mr Gregory's money talked.
Nothing wrong with that, like I say he was solid enough.
-
Really is this all the right wingers?!
You think the right is bad, the Left is even less choice and that could be for twenty years worth!
-
Merson did play right wing for us, especially towards the end of his career in the early 00's, his legs had gone and would often come on for Hendrie if I remember correctly.
Stone was also a solid right sider, but lets be honest he was only here for the money.
Would be Merson or Milner for me so by default..
-
442
Because we only had three central midfielders to pick from really, so I hope we can muster a choice of four for each of the wings and a few decent forwards to pick from.
-
Now that I think about it I wanted to vote for Berson and Bakke instead please...
-
Taylor and Barry for me
Merse should be a shout for right wing maybe

General Sir
Our thanks again to Randy et al re the RV tickets, another gesture which I'm sure some will take the wrong way as usual. I wish these fans were about when Doug Deadly used to shaft us watching dross as season tickets went up 20% per annum!
Anyway, we are on the Stadium tour on Sunday for my Twin brothers birthdays, and they/me/we are really looking forward to a good day and the usual nice food, which it always is down VP. Could you pass onto MON that my MOM is from Derry too and she's coming to stalk him, in a nice-ish way!
-
I can't believe MON is prepared to let him play in his chosen position for the last four games, I mean how is he supposed to get really confused if this carries on?
I'll say this, he's short of pace for the Prem, but he'll more than make up for it with his courage and timing, said it before...
Legend waiting to happen
-
Edit - Not the place for discussion. Trent
General, I must apologise for our lack of support last night, it was a shameful turn out, and a poor performance by the "12th Man" where we couldn't muster a song for toffee. Thats the absolute joke. Too many people waiting to Boo I'm afraid, perhaps rightly they will argue but hardly helpful...
-
MOD's help required on this one.
When it started oh so many years ago, Tubby said he'd keep track of the songs. This seems to have failed.
Can't fault him for running away cos our support is 5hite my lord. This thread is dead and I DEMAND we start a proper thread called Villa Tunes.
If you take no heed, fine, but it really will mean we are deeeed on all levels!!!

Evening General
Just like to share a couple of thoughts prior to the BIG day on Saturday, thankfully this summer (well 3 sunny days at best) has flown by!
Squad - Can see improvements in quality. Quantity is where we fell down last season so before the shop closes lets rectify that please
Stadium - As ever you guys continue to improve our surroundings, a truly admirable effort, looking good :notworthy:
Tickets - Hopefully we can nudge towards full houses, but given the economic climate I doubt it unless we charge upwards for the champions league spots and the glories come out of the woodwork!
Strip - Love the away shirt, I asked for white, so I have no excuses and will get one as soon as the transfer dealing is done, so I can then decide between Sneijder, Pato and Ribery :winkold:
Atmosphere - Fans generally seem on a downer, baying for signs of perceived vast improvements. The frenzy for information on here is amazing, as highlighted by the record log in figure which was broken on the strength of the Delph rumours a couple of days before he even signed :?
The following is there General, they just need some strong leadership - Keep up the good work
Oh ps - if you could ask Martin to log in every night and explain all developments that would really help, thanks
-
Hi General
Hope you are well.
Obviously we are going through a sticky patch at the minute, and I honestly can't see that improving with the fixtures we have coming up.
There is light at the end of the tunnel though, as our last 6 games are all winnable. We just need to keep the faith, the boys need to keep believing and Martin needs to make sure their confidence doesn't fall through the floor by then, or those 6 games will become impossible.
Looking forward, this will stand us in good stead, because as the saying goes when the going gets tough....at least we will know for the future who can hack the pressure at the top, and who isn't cut out for the job in hand.
See you at VP soon

Fair play general, can't knock the points you raise, but like many I am disappointed.
I guess being this close to the coal face means you have to listen to the good times and the bad, and I respect you for that.

General Krulak here:
3. Season Tickets: I hope most fans recognize the fact that their Club has tried very hard to understand and take into account the current economic environment. Everything from the payment scheme to the "price freeze" has been undertaken with the fan in mind. My strong recommendation is to renew or get your Season Tickets as soon as you can.
General Sir
Could you send my thanks to all concerned with this latest initiative. When you consider that the quality of the football we are watching is on the rise, a price freeze on tickets clearly represents another great fan focused benefit.
In reaction to the Lower North Stand price rise, I can only assume that this reflects the increased demand across the board for season cards. The fact that the entry level adult price needs to go up is therefore obvious, it is just unfortunate that it affects one stand in particular.
Moving on from season card prices, will the (anticipated ) additional revenue from our Champions League foray make any difference to the plans for stadium re-development?

General Krulak here:
2. Season Tickets: Tomorrow the Club will be announcing the new Season Ticket pricing and policy. I want each of you to know that a couple of the initiatives are a DIRECT RESULT of comments posted on this site and others. I doubt if any other Club or any group of Fans has had the impact that you all on these sites have had. My sense is that you all will understand and like what we are doing.
General
Weird timing this, I was just thinking about my season ticket renewal last night. We got told by work on Monday that a 10% pay cut was being introduced, and I am naturally having to examine all my outgoings, sign of the times unfortunately.
In other years this may have been a no brainer as the quality of football hasn't matched ticket prices until you guys all moved into town. Now I'm obviously hoping to be able to find the funds from somewhere, depending on costs, so it is eagerly awaited!
Regards

As ever thanks BOF, good stuff, I'm thinking:-
Che, MC, Tot, Liv, MU, Eve all 1 point max = 6
Stk, WHU, Bol, Hu, Ful, Boro, New all 3 points, some generously, = 21
51+27=78 max, less 2 for the drawn games total on ave and 4 off the won games total, will give us 72 min, 78 max.
Good enough to finish 4th, and with the points totals being so low all round 3rd is a distinct possibility. 78 would surely put us 2nd?

Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidel rolls the ball to Barry,
Barry back to Davies and on to Ashley Young,
Ashley Young down the wing like a torpedo,
Puts the ball in the Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir,
For Emile Bruno Heskey.
Nice one, old school song, what about:
Brad Freidel rolls the ball to Luke Young
Luke Young passes onto Barry
Barry out to Ashley
Ashley Young down the wing like a torpedo
Crosses the ball in the aiiiiiiir
To big Emile Heskey
-
Al we specifically sang for Birchy was:
Birchy, Birchy, Birchy
Otherwise same as those above, its My Old Man
-
Good shout lol
And in reference to the Champions League place
Hand it over
Hand it over
Hand it over Arsenal!
-
The words are:
There's only one Emile Heskey
One Emile Heskey
He played for the shite
But now he's alright
Walkin in a Heskey wonderland
But they were sining He used to be shite, not happy about that personally

I can't trawl through this thread again, but has there been one for Friedel?

Evening General Sir
I see another promotion is afoot with free flags for the CSKA game.
Excellent initiative again by the way.
Could you have a word with Randy for me and tell him I'd rather have his scarf if thats ok by him. At £50 a throw I'm struggling to justify a purchase to Her Indoors!
Thanks in advance

An iconic player, eg average but unforgettable. Oh and had one great season.
In a team that won nothing in the ENTIRE decade, but had a few decent seasons.
It just seems to fit really, quite sad.
Unless THIS is the year?.....
