Wrong and very presumptuous. I wouldnt champion Allardyce if all he talked about was Villa favourably. See that Bristol goblin who used to manage Blackpool too. Speaks highly of Villa now. I still think he's a fool.

Not really, we all thought Collymore was talking sense when he was barracking Lescott?Richards and co. If you like someone's opinion and it matches your own, 'you'll' (as in the royal 'you'll) believe it more. If you think someone is a cockwomble but still accept what they are saying,  you'll listen with confirmation bias and others, you'll dismiss because they don't share your view. It's part of life. It's not really an issue is it?

Anyway, peace be with you, and back on the Happy Bus

I don't think your sources really help your case.

On the contrary... they are all quite credible sources in real terms. As a general collective on here though, we just choose to dismiss it and ignore it as noise. Had the three sources been more supportive of the approach we have taken and blown smoke up our arses, I am sure that there would be a virtually polar opposite of our collective view and we'd be more than happy to say they were all talking sense. The only dissenters in that case would be those who were feeling it was a risky situation.

Sometimes, we only listen to what we want to believe.

It is a risk that we are taking into the new season. But one worth taking in my view. The club, the manager and the players have my support come what may in May.

Peace be with you all as we ride the Happy Bus into the new season. 👍

  3. I'd like us to sign him (but I think a second striker is our bigger priority right now) and I hope he regales us with a new range of underwear in claret and blue... I quite fancy owning a pair of 'Kalvins...' for those special match day nourishments of the romantic sort.

  4. There just has to be space in the Holte End song book for this guy next season utilising some re-arrangement of words in the Lightning Seeds song 'Marvellous...'

Oh, these are the days... this is the life... etc

Easah alright. He was actually my top CB and Capt. Plus he had the big guns all sniffing round trying to buy him.

He's still got 2 seasons to achieve this in real life.  :D

    Nice... I'll try again :)

It would be a Shamen if he didn't fulfil that potential in real life...

Is Easah a geezer who loves to muscle in?

How do you steal a house?

House-boat... and maybe... a luxury caravan off Bullseye? 😉

I've never quite forgiven Sturridge for doing his crypto-botic celebration into a group of young fans sat in the Lower Trinity after he scored at the Holte in our 2015-16 raping at home to Liverpool.

Not keen myself. Massive step down from last year's effort imo. Hopefully the 2nd and 3rd kits will be better.

The blue. It's way too light.

I feel the same. I am glad that we've gone back to what feels like a more traditional claret shirt with blue sleeves. But that blue is just so pastel-puff and washed out as it ever was under Macron. Would have liked to have seen a shade of blue the same as 92/92 Umbro lace up, or the 95/96 Reebok home shirt. Those shirts looked S.E.X under the lights at Villa Park.

It's a no from me, sorry.

  8. Welcome back Tyrone... I liked the announcement as it seemed to follow on from his voyage back to Bournemouth after the Play Off final still in his kit. Everything about the guy seems to point towards being a good team player, good for morale and helping with the cohesion whether we win or lose.

I like the guy... and I'm proud to appreciate that he plays for us.

I do not know a thing about the player but going by you three chaps and your comments I would sooner we took a punt on someone like him than be fleeced a rumoured £30m for Phillips.

Many of us have said it. There are a plethora of hidden gems out there for unbelievable prices.

    Get in there son...

Very much in the corner of those that say loans are still acceptable, so long as there is a reasonable option to buy... I wouldn't want to commit to £30m right now for Axel at the end of a loan. That's just my opinion based on natural worrying.

Webster would be a much better investment than Cahill. It depends on our predicted FFP ceiling as to whether we have to look for a free (with huge wages) or an investment who will also bring more fitness and mobility to the role.

We still need five more players, so even though money's no object to NSWE (within reason) FFP may be a limiter as others have said.

If FFP is a restrictor I'd be looking at someone like Schindler from Huddersfield on a two year deal.

A fine addition to the 'list?' 😏

    Technically used it wrong though.

Plethora is 'too much' not 'lots of'.

i.e. you can have a plethora of dog shit but you cannot have a plethora of naked 20 year old swimsuit models.

    Noooooooo! Not having that! 😉

From the Cambridge 'on line' Dictionary...

    plethora

    noun [ S ]
    uk /ˈpleθ.ər.ə/ us /ˈpleθ.ɚ.ə/ formal

C2 a very large amount of something, especially a larger amount than you need, want, or can deal with:

There's a plethora of books about the royal family.
The plethora of regulations is both contradictory and confusing.

Does not have to be in the 'negative' sense of being too much. I did GCSE Geography and one of the tasks we were set one day was to create a 'choropleth' map to show GDP variances of nations... A choropleth map (from Greek χῶρος "area/region" and πλῆθος "multitude") is a thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on the map.

In other news... any further developments with signings? With Manchester United reported on BBC as having bid for Leicester's Maguire, could Leicester turn to Webster or Mings and scupper us? At least with Mings, we seem to have a 'matching' clause, though surely that will have expired now, no? Not sure how crap like that  works to be honest...

Mate don't worry, I'm seriously hoping a plethora of signings still happen on a Wednesday so I can make you a victory meme! (Everything crossed)

Earned a 'trophy' just for using this word...

I remember watching that and thinking it reminded me of my state grammar school, when it suddenly dawned on me that the weedy kid was played by Anton Lesser, whom I knew from school - he was THE star actor in all our school plays (and, incidentally, his dad was my local barber). He went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as doing loads of TV (currently the police chief in "Endeavour"). Pretty sure he drew on Moseley Grammar for his role in "...Games". Good film, I'd like to see it again.

When I was in the 6th Form (1992), we went to see 'Taming Of The Shrew' at the RSC in Stratford - Anton Lesser was starring in that production at the time.

He was also in the last couple of series of Game of Thrones - can't remember the name of the character he was though. Pretty sure he was part of the revolutionised Lannister Queendom following her 'walk of shame' and atonement.

    Both mammals.

At the risk of sliding further off topic, it is true... I'm at work at the moment, but at some point, I'll have to google 'whale nipples,' to see what they look like. Just out of curiosity, of course...

Still no transfers... methinks Monday is going to be the day we start to see more traction.

  16. Well, he's still contracted to another club who do not need to sell him.

At least the window closes on 8th August, so if we are left in a quandary on deadline day, if he does get to sign for us, our season won't have started. Biggest club he will have played for and a good stepping stone to the top six for him if he continues to progress. No brainer for him of course... and plucky Bournemouth will hopefully play ball for him. After all... we've been raided enough times over the years by bigger clubs for our good players.

  17. Well what a great day today will be... I can see some blue sky... summer might just be arriving.

I'm not too down about missing out on a Wednesday announcement at the Villa. In other news, there was a Wednesday announcement for the Royal International Air Tattoo though... Turkish F4 Phantoms!! Two in the static... woo-hoo!!

Anyway... back to the Villa transfers... happiness is just around the corner.
