  1. Agreed. Ranking them is all down to taste. Vai with DLR was superb, but I find his recent album pretty inaccessible. I saw Satriani last night and he was on fire, (definitely one of my top 3), but again, his latest album hasn't grown on me yet.

I also agree with the opinion that a great guitarist is one you can hear and immediately recognise. Malmsteen, George Lynch, Satch, Vai, May, Hendrix, Rothery, SRV, Blackmore, Schenker, Knopfler, Clapton, etc etc. Others are not to my taste, but the fact you know its them is just plain brilliance on their part.

Oh, and SurreyAV too of course :? :winkold:

Edit: I just commited the cardinal sin and listed fave guitarists without EVH in the list

  2. I live near London and would hate Spuds winning it more. Manure have had more cash than anyone for the last xxx many years aside from Chelsea now. How they got the money is immaterial in my eyes - you could say they've been buying a lot of trophies for a while. Chelsea may have less history, but they're bigger than us right now, (you know what I mean), and I would see it as a fitting level of achievement for them to win the CL. Manure supporters are largely plastic, whereas the vast majority of Chelsea fans that I know were with them at least from the 80s onwards.

  3. ACDC just edged it, and SurreyAV: saw satch week ago on monday at birmingham symphony hall. Truely epic, far better than Vai

I'm seeing Satch tonight. I agree. Vai is technically awesome, but hard to relate to his music. Satch just rocks.....there's another poll right there!!

  4. Wow, this is a hard call. Angus and the lads just did so much and groove is definitely the best word out there for them. But Maiden are just too epic to be beaten. Their latter day stuff is not quite there for me, but I just don't think there's a better stage set or gig than Live After Death. I weep as I vote for these are two of my fave bands, but smiley Dave Murray pushes me into the Maiden camp. Just. :notworthy:

  5. You know what I want to know

Same as my question I'm guessing - who the flop dunk are Nightranger?

Same here , is it possible they are worse than fookin Foriegner though? I hope for there sakes not, that'd put em on a par with Queen

Actually I wanted to know what love is...

I hope you don't want me to show you

  6. Rush. All the way. Any band who can survive over 30 years, change their musical sound yet still be recognisable, play live with perfection and have lyrics that actually make you think deserve respect, even if not to other's musical taste. Simply one of the best bands ever IMO.

  7. I'd boo him till I puked up. Players left in the past because of the club's lack of ambition. There's seemingly not that issue now. If he was going to Man Ure, Chelsea, Arsenal, I might be able to understand it but Liverplop are the least secure of the "Big Four" and not even Stevie "where's my forehead" G plays week in week out. Not ideal if you're looking to nail an England place in the one position where you've got some competition...

I notice loads of people suggest Liverpool are far weaker than Arsenal and say it’s a big 3. Don’t see it myself.

Liverpool actually lost less games than Man United this season, there fault was throwing so many points away drawing games at home. Since 2005 they have been to 2 European Cup Finals of which they won one, a League Cup Final and an FA Cup final they won. They’ve been in the Champions League every season and before this year had finished above Arsenal for the past two seasons. When you add onto that their history, past successes and expectation I think we underestimate what a draw they could be for an ambitious player.

I’ve said a million times I’m not sure it’s the right move for him, just I can understand it if he goes

I'd clap him, but be a tad miffed if he scored against us!! I think AVFC1874's points are interesting and even though Wenger always seems to pull a rabbit out of the hat in terms of a class player, I think a little more consistency from us could put pressure on both Liverpool and Arsenal. Saying that though, if Fat Waiter does have cash and spunks it well, (debatable if he can), they could be a force to be reckoned with.
