My memories of Baros was he'd get the ball and run with head down not even caring in what direction..

With the money that Spuds have spent so far £25mill on Soldado £30 mill her and there, it makes you wonder whether they was ever in for Benteke.....
They were, trust me.
I just can't understand then why they've paid so much for unproven Premier league players when they were quibbing over peanuts for a proven premier league goal scorer

Blackpool want Ireland and Hutton? For a small fraction of their wages mind. And it's probably rubbish.

They already have Delf on loan and wasn't there another rumour about Bannan going there?
That's the whole bloody bomb squad shifted in one! And we'll get a good price for Tom Ince in return right?
Edit: That was Bannan to Holloway's Palace, got me thinking it was Blackpool.
Hmmm, so Blackpool would only pay 7.5k towards Ireland's 72k/week wages and 5k towards Hutton's 45k/week wages. This would leave us paying over 100k/week for 2 players to play for another club. I hope that's not the only option. Or they knock a couple of million off the Ince asking price.
That would be a good proposition we offer them Hutton & Ireland on part wages and they knock a few million off the asking price for Ince

i believe it could be a Bale type of player (not to his standard of course...yet) what i mean is someone who is a midfielder but is in effect a forward as well someone who plays comfortably anywhere ain the final 3rd of the pitch
-
I wasn't aware there was a 2011/12 season and Mcleish even managed us
-
Look at it this way then, IF Lerner has reduced wages and POSSIBLY funds aren't going to made available like they have been, then are we going to see a reduction in Season Ticket prices going forward?
-
This weekend will be interesting. i think a deal will be done before Monday ie over the weekend
-
i'm hoping with Given possibly on his way to Liverpool that will free up even more wages for another player(s). I'm confindent we will sign someone before window closes. I think Sakho from Wolves would be a decent signing and from what HH has stated would be within our spend remit
-
So in my eyes then his transfer value is worth premiership survival roughly £60 Mill

How much is Premier League survival? That's how much we should value Benteke at. Not saying we're a one man team but i think that this would be a fair valuation at this stage of the transfer window
-
some joke websites are now linking Benteke to Chelsea, just bloody leave us alone!!
-
On his way to being a Villa legend between the sticks

Defensive or Attacking though? after Saturdays game i'm more inclined to go towards defensive as we looked pretty dangerous going forward but my arse-hole was going 50p-20p whenever Arsenal went foward
Is that 50p size or 50p shape?
Both!!

Unfortunatley my sister's chap is a big blue nose and he informs me that the attendance is that bad down Sty that they have even closed parts of the ground on match days... they can't even hang banners as the upper parts are closed off...oh dear
-
My mate bumped into Bannan at the Dogs track a couple of weeks back and asked him why the Blackburn deal was turned down, his answer was the money was not right, to which my mate responded but you will be playing regular football though, and he simply responded with but the money was night right...
what a complete tool
-
Would be nice if we could get someone in before the Arsenal game even if they are not eligible to play it will just add more to team spirit moral around the club with players, fans etc
-
I believe we CAN afford his wages but we WONT pay for them and tbf fair play to the board for changing the policy of paying inflated wages on older players looking for a final pay day
-
I hope we dont put too much pressure on him if he does start a little slow in the 1st three games..if after that he still doesnt improve Lambert should get him in the bomb or loan him out to Small Heath
-
I like the fact that Lambert stated that one of the reasons he turned down Barry was because he wanted only players 24 or under
-
With Heskey you at least know you're getting a player that will give everything for the team, and he suited MON's tactics. So I thought it was a signing that would improve the squad rather then first team, and given Carew's injury problems at the time made sense! Ireland was NEVER going to be a replacement for Milner that was clear to me! Milner was the heartbeat of the team, with him we could have challenge for a champions league place, without him we were lost! Given was a quality keeper still is, if it wasn't for Guzans rise he would still be our no one. Zog as a replacement for both Young and Downing well that was never going to happen!
Agree with most of that apart from Given, he probably was just about worth the £5mill we paid..just. but the length of contract and salary was a big mistake on our part, he had one season maybe 2 best at top level and it showed in the Euros and especially the Bradford game that he is way past his best now
-
Heskey for me was probably one of our better players under that infamous Mcleish season
-
I never wanted Given or Hutton or Ireland in fact the only one i hold my hands up to is Zogs
