  1. James Chester has snubbed Aston Villa and Newcastle to sign a new deal with Hull - THE SUN

Didn't even know we were interested in him? Wasn't that impressed by him last season I think Baker and Clark are better.

I think next few weeks going to be very interesting indeed !

  2. Barry has had good few years with City and hasn't dropped in skill or performance, if he was willing to drop his wages to fit into the new structure were trying to build then yes I'd have him back in a heartbeat, but if he wants 30k + then I'd take a miss.

  3. Would love to see Cheikhou Kouyate of Anderlect..He can play central defensive and central defensive midfielder, fits into what Lambert is doing perfectly!!

Not heard of him only thing that would worry me is the DMC part, having way to much competiton and holding each other back, competition for places is brilliant but when you have to many you start to rotate a lot and teams need to gel and feel comfortable with each other.

Looking at the way this is panning out we are exercising yet another sell to buy policy which confirms to me that Lerner is not going to invest what is needed to get us where we need to be anytime soon.

I agree with that policy, why would you want to have a huge squad of players with 5/6 who won't get a look and soak up wages? We move them on have a slim line squad and use the wages and funds to develop further, it's not a one in one out kinda system we brought players in that PL knew he needed and then shipped out those who didnt fit the ethos he is trying to establish, it makes sense to me.
  4. According to the Sun

    It's bye-bye Mbia

QPR's Stephane Mbia, 27, is poised for a quick return to the premier league.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to sign the Cameroon midfielder and inject some experience into his young squad.

    Also the Daily Star

Aston Villa could offer £4m-rated midfielder Stephane Mbia, 27, an escape route out of relegated Queens Park Rangers.

What are your thoughts on this?

I like Mbia but would be worried he would want to much money to join us, hope lambert doesn't get sucked into paying silly money on wages again.

A large batch of QPR players seemed very disinterested and that's why they were relegated. They definitely had the talents, but the players seemed content just to get their paychecks. I'd be worried about getting any QPR player.

Also alot of them are on extortionate wages! I'm not sold on Mbia I'd like to see someone like Banega instead of Mbia who plays the same position.

  6. Don't think any of the lads would let him lace their boots let alone cut oranges hah

I think he will be off to Palace/Hull or one of the championship teams looking for promotion.

  7. The problem with Bannan is he thinks he is better than he is, tries to play ping a 40 yard ball rather than make short simple pass, when he makes the simple passes and plays direct in a game he can be effective but unfortunately for Bannan his ego rules his head, he drinks in my local sometimes and he is so obnoxious, he's been in there with Matty Lowton, Andi Weimann and a few others he just puts over a very egotistical persona, much like his football IMO.

  8. I never thought he was moving anyway. Good option from the bench, albeit an expensive one. Hope he's not out for too long.

He doesn't bring anything different, he has one good game in every ten he plays, enough is enough of these players sitting on a nice wedge not giving their all.

Are his wages really that high? I would imagine not since he only came from Wigan, who aren't exactly owned by some arab sheikhs...

He wasn't but I believe a few clubs were after him and at the time we signed him we were throwing big wages at players I'd expect him to be 50k+ easy mate.
  9. That injury will make it harder for him to move on, heard few French teams were taking a look at him.

Thing with Zog is that he has a good game every 10, so 1 out of 10 isn't consistent enough he needs to be moved on or released hes on too much money and he has never recaptured the form he produced before he joined us.

  10. Hey all, long time follower only just decided to take the plunge and join the community, born and raised in Birmingham.

Been a Villa fan all my life, first villa game I went to see was against Wimbledon we won 7 - 1 with Tommy Johnson scoring hatrick, my dad was a season ticket holder for years traveling all over the world watching the Villa so was only natural I'd follow in his steps.

Had a season ticket for 3 years during the Gregory era >.<

Thinking of getting one this year, haven't been this pumped up about start of the season for a long time.

So yeah that's a little about me, cheers
