Bolton's Marcos Alonso 'at wheel of car involved in woman's death in Madrid'

Bolton defender Marcos Alonso will appear before a Madrid court this morning to face charges over a crash that left a female passenger dead.

The former Real Madrid full back could be charged with involuntary homicide after a breath test at the scene showed his alcohol levels to be almost twice that permitted under Spanish law.

Paramedics fought to save the woman after Alonso's car spun and overturned on Monday morning. She was not breathing after being pulled from the wreckage, but treatment by the road revived her. However, she was pronounced dead 30 minutes after arriving at hospital.

Three other passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries that were thought not to be life-threatening. Alonso, 20, who had returned to Madrid for a break after Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Blackburn, was unhurt.

He was said to be so shaken, however, that he had an anxiety attack which left him unable to take a follow-up breath test. Magistrates will this morning confirm the charge against him and decide whether to keep him in custody or release him on bail ahead of his hearing.

Very, very sad. He tweeted about going out and having a drink w his friends in Madrid just last night. The accident was at 7:30am. What a waste.

Was out last night w Carlos and met Kyle Walker, Curtis Davies, Gonzalo Jara (WBA) and Carlos Vela (On loan at WBA from Arsenal). I obviously begged Kyle to stay (well not quite beg). He said he'd like to, but doesn't think it will happen. Really cool guy. I learned that you CAN get into Mechu wearing trainers IF you're a footballer!! Jara and Vela are funny as hell. 2345346 sets of fake boobs/ only way is essex wannabees etc. My wife went to the bathroom and 3 girls started hitting on me....and no, I'm not THAT good looking lol.

Nah, didn't really talk to him. He was at the next booth. Was thinking about a cheeky comment to say when I was introduced to him, but kept my mouth shut about the fact that he's a crap defender. I'm a Madrid fan...but Messi is amazing. Clearly better than Cristiano. He also seems like a really good person (follow his example rooney!). Only in the news for the right reasons.

I think there are certain players that if coming off an injury are 100% GH still rests them for an extra week or two. This in theory isn't a bad idea, but it only applies to some players and not others.

I asked a mutual friend of ours "What happened w Fabian yesterday? Why didn't he even make the bench?" and he said "Fabian was 100% fit."

Delph was 100% healthy and still dropped from the bench last week.

Ah, I called sky a month ago to cancel my Sky Movies because I don't watch them really. The nice (shock for a call center) woman said "why don't u keep the movies channels and we'll give you a 10 pound discount on your bill for the next 6 months". Sky paying me 3 pounds essentially for keeping the movies channel. Result!!

I love Sky. Just watched some Spartacus (prequel season). Wow. As if I wasn't obsessed with Sky Atlantic already...

The great thing about sky atlantic is that they have old eps from great shows like Sopranos and 24. No, I do not work for them!!!

The only regret I have is not having Sky for internet as well, I can't access the sky anytime + which is USA style on demand shows.
